Top 4

Ok, I was trying to have a reasoned debate as you suggested only 2 blades players make Covs 11 which is farcical. You seem to only be interested in the 5 games of this season and not a players whole career so I'll probably bail out at this point.

Good luck for the season and I hope you'll find time to pop back on if things go a bit better for us over the next few months. Had a lot of fans from other teams come on here when things are going well for them then melt away when it goes a bit South.
I'm hoping things get better for you. Have stayed away because of your start but came on because of you finally getting rid of Selles. My previous post was saying he had to go.

My view sounds very short term but I think Selles reign has proved there’s a bit of accuracy in it.

Wilder has to win his first game, it will reinstall the feel good factor. Fans will believe we’re back & players will regain confidence.

I think if Selles had managed to beat Bristol then we’d have picked up a few more points in the other 4. I’m not saying it would have ever worked out for Selles because after watching his football I don’t think it would, however, I think that first game killed everything he’d tried to build

Whats your point? You drew 1-1 and had 4 shots on target all game, we 'battered' Bristol on the stats opening day and look where that has got us 🤣
15 blocked shots that don't count as a shot on target. Worst time wasting we've ever seen. 2 yellow cards before HT for time wasting. Their GK was one of them. Went down 4 times in the 2nd half still as though he had been shot.

Happy with our season so far. Just need to sort out defending set pieces 😂

Getting away from the deluded SISU intrusion the biggest decision CW will have to make is who to appoint as Captain now his culture carrier is no longer with us. It needs to be someone respected. With experience of playing at a high level and a born leader. The players morale is on the floor.

The worst decision would be to give it to one of his old boys such as Hamer or try to be radical and let Peck take it. For me there is only one candidate and that is Ben Mee. Mee is also left footed a hole that was never filled during CW's last tenure. With Mee in the side it provides the option of going with a 3 at the back which in the short term may be the best formation with the players we currently have.

Just looking at the current top 4, as that is surely the target for this season.

1st: Middlesbrough - 13 pts, +6 GD
2nd: Stoke - 12 pts, +6 GD
3rd: Bristol City - 11 pts, +8 GD
4th: Leicester - 10 pts, +3 GD

Is that going to be the top 4 come the end of the season?

Even so, 13 points behind Middlesbrough with 41 games left is more than doable, providing we get the right manager in.

Whoever it is, they should be saying to those players.

"Right lads, first we're going to get you playing as a team, then we're going to go and catch that top 4, 1 team at a time"

Maybe it is a bit premature to make a statement like this when we haven't got a manager yet, but it's not over yet.
The hunt is on.

Nothing remotely special about any of those and Leicester should be punished before the end of the season.

Once we get past the rhetoric of "getting back to winning football matches", he'll see the squad and think it's decent.

Right back remains an issue, but centre back, where we were weak in the second half now has Tanganga and Mee as well as Godfrey and McGuinness. Far better options than the latter part of the last season. He's got a very reliable performer in Ogbene coming in to fill another area he couldn't totally solve. He's lost Moore but Ings has had a far better pedigree. That's not to mention he has Chong now as well as well as more depth.

I reckon once he gets going we can go on a run with these players. Some would have been seen as really good additions on last time, even if the way we went about it was disorganised. I mean, what he wouldn't have given for Mee and Tanganga last season!

People seem to suddenly think we are destined to now go on a winning run… I don’t think it’s gonna be quite that simple.. we could easily lose the next 3

That's true, but we could also win the next 3. No one knows. All we can do it get behind them and try to do our bit.

I do, because the team (wrongly) threw him under the bus a bit, he contributed to that, publicly bollocking players game 1

But, with this squad last season, we’d be in double figures for points, wank watch, but guess we’ve been taught to suck it up in last few months

I think Cooper is probably one of the best keepers in the division.

Tanganga is in the top 2-3 centre halves. McGuinness we’ll see but Ben Mee should assist. Burrows is a top young LB.

Ogbene is a good addition as is Matos. And I rate Campbell on form as a very good striker at this level.
Cooper has looked anything but one of the best keepers in the division so far this season.

After reading this thread I checked the championship table to see how Coventry were doing (not been keeping up with football this season for obvious reasons🤣). Expecting to see them in the top 2 with 4 or 5 impressive victories.

They are 6th. Drew with Norwich, Hull and Oxford. Steady start for sure but I wouldn't be mouthing off on other teams forums about how good we are after that 🤣
I genuinely had no idea where they were in league although I know they had a big win the other week

Think I might go and spam their board about how fantastic we are now

Unfortunately recruitment has been poor and we're miles behind. Parachutes have been blown. Getting to Jan with sixth not totally gone is my hope. Hopefully then a few of the wrongs can be put right in the transfer market and we can push on.

IMO we have a squad capable of top six . We should be aiming for the play offs even with -9 start . Will it happen? I don’t know but momentum is massive and if we can pull off a victory Saturday……
At least our best player won’t be warming the bench !
As ever UTB !
68pts was enough for the Play Offs last season.

That's 1.66ppg from now on in

I agree. But not all over the pitch. One of if not the best midfields in the Championship for sure. But elsewhere very average at best.
One of the best centre backs in the league and one of the best goalies, our left back was one of the best in the division last season until Selles wreaked havoc on the team, formation and tactics, Campbell in a Wilder team is capable of 15/20 goals. You come on here last pre season saying what a bad season we’d have until we ended up with 92 points and within twenty minutes of promotion and as the season progressed you crawled back under your stone. Here you are again saying how weak we are and so I understand your confidence at the minute but why come here when you can argue with your rivals? Do you go on the foxes site? Much as it is not a problem having opposing fans views on our site your views are the same shit going on about how inadequate our squad is. Now we have a more successful manager than yours we’ll see. Your shit attempt telling Blades fans your knowledge of our players by saying we have approx 3 or 4 players who are good is nonsense. All the pundits at the start of the season had us as a promotion or playoff team but had reservations because of Selles being here. Those odds and pundits forecasts will change again tomorrow.

For the record I don’t go on our rivals site and so I definitely won’t go on yours to talk about only having 4 players that are any good. The truth is your team and your view is insignificant to me and your squad should be the same to you but we all know why you are here and what it is you want to point out. Go on the Foxes site for gods sake.

Dasilva is our LB who starts off our attacks. Burrows is a LB who has done what so far this season?

I didn't say Cooper is poor. I said he looks poor. That goal he let in from a tight angle was poor. His positioning a lot of the game was poor. But other than Tanganga he didn't have much of a defence in front of him.

The loans you brought in with only League 1 experience are certainly a downgrade.

10 to 12 games is a good barometer but given your start yes 15 games would be good 👍
Now your out of the closet

Mid table will be a good finish this season
We’ve got a very average mid table squad.
This is nonsense. It’s not a mid table squad and most of the league would take it if offered.
There are large holes in it for a Wilder team but they can be resolved in Jan.
Anything less than a top 6 finish will be failure and I fully expect him to get it.
