I have long said that Harry won't be going anywhere, when some had given up. But now Hull are interested, he's off. It's a good move for him and they must have been impressed when they watched us before the cup game (or during, although probably not).

I can't say I hold anything against him if he wants to go. He's been loyal to us and if he thinks it's time to step up a level or two, fair enough!

What I will say is as good as he's been for us (very good), £2m is probably best for us and centre halves are more replaceable than 30 goal-a-season strikers. I think NC will invest wisely and it's enough money to buy our way out of the division.

Gutted to see him go, but looking at the bigger picture.

We got a Harry thread

Well he may be but....

Hull just escaped relegation, Bruce probably wont be there all that long and the next manager may think differently. Maybe it's not so good a move.

If I were him I would say Wolves are a better bet than Hull but it is his decision. Wolves are a big club, Hull aren't. Wolves are in the mainstream of football, Hull are like Plymouth, skirting round the edges.

Message to HM,Hull may well go down next season,we may well go up,then where would you rather be ?
Give it another season Harry !

It more depends on if he wants to double his wage or not rather than just play football.

Luke Shaw, another young defender (18 year old) is on the market for £23million - makes Harry's value of around £2million a bit paltry ! Is Shaw that good or is it Harry's just a run of the mill clogger ?

Hes worth far more than 2 fucking million in todays climate.

Remember we dont 'need' to sell anyone now.

Id run his contract down if it was upto me.

Totally agree Mr Gee - we would probably get more than that in compensation if he went for nothing at the end of the season !

Don't think we would.

For those who think he would choose Wolves over Hull. Wolves can probably offer him £10k P/W, Hull wouldn't baulk at £20k P/W. Pop Quiz, what would you do?

Choose the premier league club every single time.

Stay where I am, with the proviso my club matches those figures when in the relevant league and leave for nothing next summer if we fail this year.

Not the attitude of your average 21 year old or his agent I'm afraid.

What if he is good mates with Mr Slew and the advice is take money cus you'll get dropped like a red hot poker if your face don't fit but at least you'll have £400K in the bank.

I obviously don't want Harry to go, but if I was him I'd definitely leave to be honest.

He's got nothing to prove at League One level any more so should leave to test himself at a higher level, the fact that he'd be on loads more money is a very nice added bonus for him.

Much as I like Harry, playing in the 1st Div flatters him. He does not have the pace for the premiership, you can train many things into a player to make them develop, but pace ain't one of them. The sad fact of modern footballing life is his agent is probably pushing like mad to get a move and if Dull are seriously interested the wages are going to be multiple times anything the Blades can offer.

However, we will now see if the game has changed or not, if we hold out and hold Harry to his contract? There is the view that Nigel might choose to sell in order to invest elsewhere, some might question if the game has changed, why do we need to sell Harry in order to do this?

I would say him leaving would be to get more money, then, him getting a game would be the added bonus imo.

Obviously there worried about Davies leaving, but Harry premier league quality?????? Yes he was good against better op in the cup but over a full season in the prem, I'm not convinced even the best struggle when they lose that half a yard of pace (Ferdinand for one) an Harry has never had the pace!!

In the cup it was only Hulls reserves forwards as well and they still rinsed him a few times!

The FFP rules limit what we can pay in wages so it's how you balance the squad within those limitations.

And sit in the reserves? A sort of 'Slewrosis'.

Well you're moving the goalposts a bit. If the choice is to sit on the bench at hull or play at Wolves that might be different. However, in reality, 20k at a premier League club or <10k at a championship club is no contest really.

I don't agree. Money isn't everything is it? I expect most players would rather play first team than sit in the reserves. I would suggest first team at Wolves is better than the reserves at Hull, particular when they pass each other next May. ;)
