He's 63 next January (his BD is New Year's day) and United have employed him (I think) since 1987, so he has had the job for 25 years.

We employed him in February 1988 as I remember reading somewhere that it was exactly 20 years after he had signed for us from Watford. Cant remember which day in February it was

You and others like you are constantly telling us that you're finished with the club. Threatening to stop being a fan as if we're honoured to experience your presence. I only said I'd welcome you leaving. I never told you to leave.

But then... isn't this typical troll behaviour? Work hard to get attention, then cry when you're challenged. I suppose I should be thankful you didn't accuse me of being a Nazi or suggest I move to North Korea.
Not me that's crying buddy so don't flatter yourself.

Also, I have to ask why you're incapable of mature debate without resorting to childish nonsense like your "goldfish" remark.
You do take a distorted view on anyone who criticises SUFC and yes I do liken it to the distorted view through a goldfish bowl.
I am still waiting to here where the club is progressing or improving ? if you want to debate fine I look foward to your viewpoint but a forum clearout of posters you don't agree with .......... just who do you think you are ???
I have said all I'm going to say now, the thread is now moving on to the depths of Nazi's and N Korea time to walk away.

Then I assume this will be the last time you post on this forum..?

Why, because you don't agree? You're very hypocritical Tarquers, in one breath you're gagging for me to stop posting and further down the thread you're complaining that folks aren't capable of debate. Hmm, you aren't quite the intellectual that you want to be seen as sunshine, in fact, you're just another clapper :D

Why, because you don't agree?

No, because you said this:

Me? I've given up already, I hate what we've become.

And this:

I finally wised up, this isn't the Sheffield United I knew and loved, this is a rich mans plaything that he got bored with. Big Blade? Yeah whatever.

You're very hypocritical Tarquers, in one breath you're gagging for me to stop posting

I'm really not. I'm expecting you to follow through on your threats and give up already.

and further down the thread you're complaining that folks aren't capable of debate.

I wouldn't call "McWobblegob", "just another clapper", or "You're living in a goldfish bowl" debate.

Hmm, you aren't quite the intellectual that you want to be seen as sunshine

"want to be seen as"? I don't really care how you see me. If you want to link that word to me then that's your choice.

in fact, you're just another clapper :D
Is this you "debating" again?

You do take a distorted view on anyone who criticises SUFC
I take a dim view on anyone who discards reason. I bet I can find plenty of evidence on this forum of me criticising SUFC.

and yes I do liken it to the distorted view through a goldfish bowl.
Right.

I am still waiting to here where the club is progressing or improving ?
Again, find any post where I or anybody else has suggested we're anything other than in trouble.

forum clearout of posters you don't agree with .......... just who do you think you are ???
Aaaand again... I've never asked you or anybody else to leave. I'm not the one with the power (or to be honest, desire) to force anybody out. But then... I'm not the one threatening to walk away.

I have said all I'm going to say now
I doubt it.

the thread is now moving on to the depths of Nazi's and N Korea
There we have it.

time to walk away.
You've said something like that before...

How has this subject stretched to 5 pages!!! **shakes head**

Like i've said before, Currie, is a legend yes. But in terms of his position at the club as a wage on the staff list, he was as vulnerable as anyone. Move on.

I think if we're worrying about an unconfirmed rumour relating to a legend from the 70's that nobody really knows what he does anymore, then we're ready for the season to start. A week to go doom mongerers or alternatively take a look at the Olympics. Apparently Seb Coe is still in a job, that should satisfy those with desires to live on former glories

Poor stuff, this. Not least the tiresome repetition of the ludicrous notions that Kevin McCabe:

a) Doesn't care about United - I know him, though not well. He does, passionately.

b) Has somehow feathered his own nest at our expense. A risible suggestion betraying a complete lack of understanding about running a professional football club. He's literally spent a fortune on SUFC, with no hope whatsoever of ever recovering more than a fraction.

Understand this - Our income does not match our expenditure. It hasn't for years. Who do you think makes up the shortfall? Tony Currie?

Another old chestnut: What's happened to the Walker/Naughton/Jagielka/Lowton/Sabella/Mick Jones money? In the Directors' pockets that's what!

Utter bollocks.

The money has gone to the Electric, Gas, Water companies. To painters, decoraters, builders, breweries and hardware stores. It's gone to stewards, gatemen, pie and programme sellers. It's gone to the Council, the Inland Revenue, the Police and Ambulance Service. It's gone to the milkman, the newsagent and the window cleaner. Most of all it's gone to Robson, Blackwell, Adams, Robinson and Birch. It's gone to Beattie and Hendrie. It's still going to Montgomery and Cresswell.

Anyone who wants McCabe out, please let him know the process by which he can leave without totally disabling our club. Give him a clue as to who is in the queue to make as much money out of SUFC as he obviously has. Tell him your vision and how you propose to realise it. He'll be delighted to hear from you.

I'm no starry-eyed sycophant. He's made dreadful mistakes and contributed more than most to our downfall, but for all that, without him we'd be not only down but out for the count.

Moving on:

No-one should be "cleared out" of the forum; but if you want to talk manifest, demonstrable nonsense don't take offence when someone notices!

Now then, about Monty....

Come off it Pinchy !

McCabe has made a bad job of running the Blades!
Don't try and cloud the issue with the usual rubbish of him lining his own pockets e.t.c.

Sorry Tarquers, I missed that little gem. You do realise you just described yourself there don't you? As to message board trolls well again, you fit the bill perfectly so ffs discuss the topic in hand and disagree by all means, but you're cyber bullying is lame and a bit wearing to be honest.

Superb post, factual and well written.

Post of the year in fact.

Quite the best post on here for a long long time, excellent Pinchy. Whether some on here actually understand it is another thing....

Pinchy wins gold for the most elaborate name drop of all time. :D

Only kidding... Agree with it all, though I would add that true judgement will come when he extricates himself from United.

I was a cynic, but now im all turned around. KM has been brilliant, it's energy prices that have been our downfall.

My RAPFA badge is in the post Pinch, give it to someone else.

Well we only spent one season in division 4 after buying players, not loaning players or free transfers..........
make your mind up who cared more even if it was only for a split second. :D

Was the loan system in operation in Brealey's day?

Good post Pinchy but what's with.....

No-one should be "cleared out" of the forum; but if you want to talk manifest, demonstrable nonsense don't take offence when someone notices!

What you posted was your opinion, no more or less valid than anyone elses, and some would say that what you posted was “demonstrable nonsense” so please don’t take offence when I beg to differ with one of your points.
Mr. McCabe is not a massive Blade. Once he binned Robson he sat and watched the club implode, he had pots of cash but didn’t do anything to shore up the team. He simply sat stony faced and watched our beloved club drop without a fight. He isn’t the messiah anymore, he’s disabling our club, it’s being dismantled in front of your eyes and I know that upsets a few but c’est la vie, we’re a crappy third division club with no cash and that’s a fact.

Swiss, I’m confused by your….

To be quite honest TarquinDelouche posts some decent stuff and what he's said on this thread is perfectly credible
Please take your own advice and discuss the topic.

Tarquers got the mardies on because he didn’t agree with my on topic post. I don’t mind you having a pop but please, keep it on topic sunshine.....or better still, ....

I won't tolerate dissent in my organisation. The badge has not yet reached me. You have not yet resigned so I hereby expel you. I'll give the badge to my mate Kev.

Seriously, I did point out his major contribution to our downfall. By far the most significant was his joint failure with Warnock to capitalise on a TEN POINT safety net in the Premier League. What a golden opportunity that January was to establish ourselves in the top flight by recruiting just a little genuine Premiership quality. We know the rest...

He's finally got it right with DW though. As I said when he arrived, however, he's got to raise the titanic and that will take time and patience.

Oh, nearly forgot, it's Mr.Pinch from now on please, Señor Raul.

For the record - I sent it recorded post and it was signed for last night by a Mr Carl Ing.

Utter bollocks.

Now then Pinchy. It's no secret we've disagreed about stuff in the past, mainly Monty, but there's no denying it, you're spot on here. Many people seem to regard Kevin McCabe as the AntiChrist, but have no solution to the situation other than "get rid of him", and offer no realistic alternative.

McCabe has made some woeful decisions in the past, but as Pinchy says, if you think you have a better way to run the club, then tell him.

As far as debate, well, if Pinchy and I can still get on then you others could give it a try.

Poor stuff, this. Not least the tiresome repetition of the ludicrous notions that Kevin McCabe:

a) Doesn't care about United - I know him, though not well. He does, passionately.
I think he did care to start with but maybe his ego took a big whack with relegation from the premiership, by the time the world cup bid failed he had lost all interest and wanted out for sure.

b) Has somehow feathered his own nest at our expense. A risible suggestion betraying a complete lack of understanding about running a professional football club. He's literally spent a fortune on SUFC, with no hope whatsoever of ever recovering more than a fraction.
Not so much feathered his nest but by stripping the club of the only assets it had left he has ensured he will not lose out should he walk away tomorrow, strange how the value of Bramall lane closely mirrors our current debts. If anyone betrays a lack of understanding on how to run a football club they would be advised not to ask our Kev.

Understand this - Our income does not match our expenditure. It hasn't for years. Who do you think makes up the shortfall? Tony Currie?
And who's fault is that ?

I can assure you it didn't go to the programme sellers PMSL or any of the other things all 92 league clubs have to pay, Robson, Birch etc Beatie, Hendrie etc on the other hand took a massive amount of money from SUFC with very little to show for it. McCabe hired em and let them ruin the club so the buck stops with him. Maybe the club would be more viable if we didn't owe McCabe over £3m per year in interest charges.

Anyone who wants McCabe out, please let him know the process by which he can leave without totally disabling our club. Give him a clue as to who is in the queue to make as much money out of SUFC as he obviously has. Tell him your vision and how you propose to realise it. He'll be delighted to hear from you.
Unfortunately he has run the club into such a state that it is now unsellable, who is going to buy a club in division 3 with over £50m debts or a division 3 club with no ground assets or training facilities. It has Rotherham Utd written all over it, of course he could just move us to the DVS and build more offices, hotels or student flats if he so wished.

I'm no starry-eyed sycophant. He's made dreadful mistakes and contributed more than most to our downfall, but for all that, without him we'd be not only down but out for the count.
Now there is a contradiction................... so which is it has his dreadful mistakes contributed to our downfall or is he the new messiah ?
I posted earlier in the thread that it is a weird way of thinking that accepts he is the root cause of most of our troubles yet at the same time he is the only one keeping the wolves from the door.
I have real trouble understanding why I should be thankful to the bloke who's choices got us in this mess in the first place.

Moving on:

No-one should be "cleared out" of the forum; but if you want to talk manifest, demonstrable nonsense don't take offence when someone notices!
Don't take offence, nicely worded post but I have noticed a fair bit of it is manifest, demonstrable nonsense but that's just my opinion at least you do debate even if the fitness clubs, the hotel on the car park, the enterprise centre where fans should sit and the host of foreign football club disasters which were to have helped finance the football side and provide a stream of talent have been conveniently forgotten.
Mistakes ??? yes of epic and biblical proportions McCabe could well go down in history as the worst we ever had.

Now then, about Monty....

Well Shoreham .........................IF

TC has been shown the door Mr McCabe should have reached an 'amicable' conclusion with TC and the pair of em should have made the announcement together. I don't disagree that cuts have to be made because of how bad the club has been run but given that TC is such an iconic figure to Sheffield United and lots of Blades IF he has gone it's just another bollock McCabe has dropped.

As for running the club better in general my advice to McCabe would be to think hard about the way forward, reach a decision then do exactly the opposite !

Tarquers got the mardies on because he didn’t agree with my on topic post.
No I didn't. Go back and read. You said you were done, I asked if you were going to stop posting. I then went on to say that I would welcome the end of your time here. You plus others. I never "got the mardies". I never tried to force anybody out, I never tried to enforce a clear out. I merely said it would be a good thing if certain people stopped leaving their messages. I bet I wouldn't be the only one to notice a positive change in the atmosphere if you did. You, as is your wont, overreacted.

Also, at the risk of being called a Nazi or communist, you said you weren't going to post in this thread any more. What happened to that?

Oh dear .....................as usual the BDTBL management have fooked up yet again.
A simple club press release was all that was needed !
Any news from them yet ?
They held the last of the consultation interviews yesterday. As yet, they have not told everyone who is affected by the potential redundancies who is leaving. Yet you want United to make a statement before this happens?

No fuck up by the management, just a process being followed and rightly so. Why should they make a press release about which people are losing their jobs ?
