Ross Barkley raised his arms in the air celebrating even before putting the ball in the net on Saturday. Ian Wright thought it was great to see but would he have thought the same if it had been Arsenal that Ross had done it to?

Personally would have loved it had he missed as that would have been really entertaining!
As for the hero or villain thing, Bremner at dirty Leeds sticks out to me as a total hero at Leeds but despised everywhere else and for different reasons as most on here will know. (A vile dirty bastard for our younger fans).

I wasn't a Blade when Tony Currie was playing but I used to come to the Lane sometimes just to watch him. It seemed that every time I came, at some point he would drop a great pass into Woody's path and a goal would follow just as night-time follows the daylight. He was a fantastic entertainer and I have always said, since the 1970s, when my lad and his friends asked me, that he is the best player I have ever seen.

I've always dreamt of doing that. Against those from the sty. Going round the keeper, putting my foot on the ball when its on the line, and saluting the crowd. Then back-heeling it in. Lets hope Billy can do something similar next season. But only when we are already 2 goals up...

I remember that celebration, thought the same as you. Just have to take your hat off to him, fair play. And yeah, he had been getting dogs abuse.

I wasn't too old back then, a lot of those games merge into one - we seemed to Play Man Utd every season in the cup during the 90s! The best one was when Hoyland and Hodges turned it around after an early goal (Giggs I think). Bruce hit the post from the spot!

Whilst I kinds get your angle on these things, I can't let the 'vile dirty bastard' description of Billy Brenner go unchallenged.
Leeds he may have been, competitive, combative, uncompromising, feisty he may have been. But vile dirty bastard? A tad ott in my opinion.
He was one of the finest midfielders of that era and combined the qualities I list above with a liberal dose of skill and a great engine too.
He never played too well at the Lane strangely enough but I'd not have turned my nose up at him playing for sufc in those times.
Apparently a quiet unassuming and very private bloke off the field too.
