Would be a decent loan this if any truth in it. He's done well at PNE on loan previously and he was bought a bit back by Leicester for a sizeable fee I think.

Young lad, plenty to prove, wants to ignite his career, and probably too early for him to get much game time in the PL. A season loan might suit all parties and if he does well and we do well....

You're absolutely obsessed with Brewster. I knew you were meaning him
When he leaves I’ll end my obsession.

The annoying thing I found when I googled the signing date is that the £40m by back clause ended in June 2023 so I can’t see Liverpool coming back in for him now!

This threads gone from ‘7 mil is a bit steep’ to ‘13 mil is the going rate’ Stinks of the Brewster signing with people saying ‘just pay it’, I’d be happy to see him come but for a reasonable fee, just really hope we have someone else in mind and are not just going all in on Cannon like we seemed to do with Brewster.

Think it's just different people posting different opinions rather than a collective consciousness

Leicester must be licking their lips, why’s it always us that get into a bidding war? Do rival clubs despise that sight of us signing a decent player?

Personally, I think the £13 million price tag is fine. Let’s not forgot that we sold Osula for a very similar amount. Close in age but Cannon has more professional minutes (and goals).

It’s about the going rate for a young striker these days… providing we get him of course!

I don't understand the love in for this guy, looks an OK player that's all.
£13 million with several clubs supposedly fighting over him seems miles over the odds.

Evaluation of Cannon . What he can be.not what he is . Seems alot see him as a future prolific scorer.

We're a Championship club and could well be next year. Newcastle are a PL club with very wealthy owners.
We're two points down this season because we couldn't pay our bills.
£13m and big wages is a very large spend and risk falling well short of just 'fine'.

Kin ell. Groundbreaking stuff. Well worth the 13M
19 in 57 appearances (not all of them starts) is one every 3 games, all at Championship level. Lad's still only 22 and the definition of a proven Championship goalscorer. I don't really care about his other stats if he keeps that rate up

Burnley entered the race

How on earth can Burnley afford Cannon, haven't they, not only, been hovering close to PSR breaches but also hovering close to having an unsustainable debt that the club, having been bought with a leveraged buyout, can't afford!

£13 million is the going rate for an established Premier league club because their income is so high, but of loose change for Newcastle.
However Cannon isn’t Premier league standard, the going rate at Championship level is 5 mill, maybe a little more.

Regards our finances, it’s not only that we’re not in the PL but also we face a significant reduction in parachute money next season.
If we don’t get promoted then we’ll need to be cutting costs…..not raising them.

The Sunderland bid covers them for failure because their bid is a little like our Cameron Archer deal….failure for them and he returns back to Leicester.

As long as our fans realise that our bid is a permanent one, we are gambling, speculating to accumulate
So failure to be promoted means we’ll need to sell 2 or 3 of our best players next season…..just to balance the books.
If we don’t balance the books then it’s classed as cheating and we’ll face a large points deduction.

How many from open play?

I much prefer a striker to do other things that impact the game, outside snap shots and scoring the occasional goal. If we’re wanting an out and out striker to sit in the oppositions box, I’m sure Sharp would be open to a return. Be a lot cheaper too.

Judging from the fact that we are willing to spend that much on him, we might not be financial minnows anymore
