Is today's match at Derby versus Derby County close enough to Sheffield to be classed as a derby? Just wondering...

No. However, games in the past have added spice and atmosphere due to the relatively close proximity but not a derby nor a rivalry in my view.

Well if your a Blades fan that lives close to the city boundary like in Eckington or Dronfield for example then I suppose it could be classed as a derby match for you as it's Derbyshire and Chesterfield ain't in the pro leagues anymore so it's the next team in Derbyshire which would be Derby.

There are loads of Blades in Derbyshire. A lot of Derbyshire is nearer Sheffield than it is Derby. Loads in the Hope Valley, plenty in Chesterfield and the surrounding areas.

Never thought of it as a derby as such, but geographically similar distance from Norwich to Ipswich, which is described as a derby

I never considered it a derby but back in the day The Baseball Ground was a must do.

Surely that's just because there are no professional teams closer to either?

Shame there aren't any fans allowed, 'Waghorn give us a wave.'
(Yeah I'd like it to be a more meaningful chant but I can't think of anything :( )

Ahhh, was it a joke? I couldn't tell. If it was a joke, could you explain it to me so I can figure out if it was a good joke or a bad joke or a joke somewhere in between? Cheers.
F*****d if I know mate! With all the serious replies, I'm starting to think it's me that got the wrong end of the stick!! 😂

Is Derby a derby?
Do you know how difficult a concept this is for the dyslexic posters on here?

My Derby mates like United. They hate Forest and they hate Leeds so probably feel that we have something in common.

Where you personally live doesn’t make any difference to wether a game is a derby or not. It’s the proximity to the ground, surely?

Otherwise if Hertha Berlin played united in a friendly or Europa league game I’d be talking about a local derby and you’d all be wondering what the fuck I’m on about
