I would give this up and support Man City and if they’re not doing so well there’s always Livepool
Really, thanks for the advice, why I didn't think of that?

There is always someone in life with advice.

.Worry about it when it does not when Boro have only made up one point on us in the last 10.
Good post and a good point made, however I try to never look at the past, I just keep moving forward in life, that is the only thing that we can change.

I know we are a pessimistic bunch but some of the comments on here. I know we've ground out results recently but we've not lost and maintained the gap?

Boro, Luton, Watford and WBA all have to come to the Lane. They all need to come to win which should be in our favour. We've only lost 5 games all season.

7 or 8 more wins should do it.

Yep, good post, not sure about the 7 or 8 though, could likely need more?

We've got to the point where saying we are 10 points clear with a game in hand and are in great form is just fans trying to reassure themselves. That's how well things are going. People are literally trying to dismiss facts so they can remain pessimistic.

The performances have been average and we may well come unstuck against better teams. We might blow promotion. Nothing is pointing that way but we may collapse. Nobody is saying we are up. The pessimism of our fans though is currently completely unfounded based on every available statistic.

Boro have brought in Aaron Ramsey, Dan Barlaser and Cameron Archer. Thats 3 very good additions.
That’s a matter of opinion.
AR no longer as he used to be, DB previously with Rotherham (!) and CA has never really produced despite his talent.
They could turn out to be great additions, but they have each replaced someone, so it may be a backward step.
In 11days we may well have a better idea !!

Christ there are some right bedwetter's on this thread the chasing pack are on good runs but are not catching us, on our last six games we are on 2.30pts per game the best the rest can do is 2.40pts per game. As we are it will take them another 10 games to make a point on us we keep doing what we are doing and they ain't getting near us. We just all need to hold our nerve there will be games we lose there will be games the chaser's lose but it would need us to drop to relegation form for us to be caught.

I think like most fans, we are just hoping that we don't blow away what we have with a whimper.

I totally get the concerns. I'm just trying point out that there is currently nothing to suggest we're going to blow it outside of us being Sheffield United

Depends on how many we draw also.
8 wins and 5 draws would leave the chasing pack needing 39/40 points to collect in 16/17 games: big ask.

Naturally many are worried Boro will earn 11 more points than us between now and end of season.

Equal chance we earn 11 more points than them!

We haven't been scintillating of late, but we very rarely don't deserve the results we've got.

It's not the Aaron Ramsey formerly of Arsenal, it's a youngster from Villa with the same name.

We’re performing how we did on that losing streak in Oct, even though we’re getting results, as we say it’s fine margins, I just can’t shake that we’re going to blow it.

I’ve put £50 notes on Middlesbrough for automatic prom just in case we blow it. It won’t make me feel any better but it will soften the blow…

Chelsea, Wigan, Mind the gap, I was at them all……

My mistake. I guess he doesn’t strengthen very much otherwise Villa would keep him in their squad.

everything league based is on that Middlesborough game, we win that game & we should be good, 13pts clear with a game in hand & physiological advantage

The trend suggests that the gap will increase further.
The fact that we are’nt playing great and still maintaining a gap is reason for optimism.
I said before todays game that I’d be happy with a point.I thought the performance was better today.
Rotherham defended well.We are in a good place but even a 10 point gap can’t lift the cloud from some folks.

Boro and WBA could that, this is my big worry TBH. Like others have said though, we play them both at home, and providing we can string wins together in between those games, it's still with us to lose.

I agree with the point you are making but venture to suggest that there is some trouble brewing for our future.
I believe that the chasing pack will find it difficult to maintain their form over the second half of the season. They have tough fixtures too.
United will struggle for only one reason. We will be playing against teams who have already faced us at our best, and at our worst. The side we can put out has barely changed, so our opposition will know exactly how to approach us from a player point of view, and from a tactical point of view.

Something has to change and that is down to PH. He will continue his present approach until we get to our last 10 fixtures. Depending on results between now and then, will determine how radical we must be in applying those changes.
We might continue our unbeaten run, but that might not be enough against teams who have added players in the JTW, or found a chagrin of management has added to their form.
Boro are an excellent example of this. Carsick has done a great job energizing a useful team, plus new additions to add some variety.

My view is that we can carry on scraping a draw or a win, but those last10 games will provide the real challenge. Injuries apart, we have the squad depth to change the starting line up, or the tactics if necessary.
I respect your thoughts and opinions, and look forward to hearing them on Blades Pod.

I’m trying to remain optimistic. 😇

we{boro} were very good again today, same as last week. totally dominated a weaker team. having pace in the side and a stronger bench will only help us to maintain the high ppg ratio. looking forward to cardiff game next week. i'm hoping we can beat them. all we can do it keep winning and hope you guys hit a wall or something. once the gap is closer and games start running out the pressure will build and funny things can happen. i just hope we are within 6 points or something with 5 games left. couple of defeats and we could sneak in there late on. if not. i'd still fancy us beating anyone in the playoffs they way we as playing right now.
