I think it's been less to do with fucking about, and more to do with easing him back after his illness.
Agree that we need to use him as much as possible for the run in though. Him and Duffy behind one striker would be good to see, as would 4-2-3-1 with the 3 comprising Brooks, Duffy and Holmes. Although I can't see Wilder going with that from the start of a game.

Really like the sound of Duffy Holmes Brooks and a striker. Did it in the second half last night and didn't look any worse at the back than in the first half.

Let's just go for it.

Beat me to it there ;)

Wilder needs to change things not sure where Holmes fits in seems like another one of his misfits

Agree with a lot of this . We score one more the the oppo: it' a win and cracking football to boot .lets not end the season in a whimper let's go for the throats !!

Just start Thomas, it worked last time against Ipswich... oh wait

Holmes is just like a last gen Brooks from what I've seen so far. Tries similar things, just not as quick or nimble.

Positive player though, will try to go through a defence rather than around it.

A better creative option than Carruthers off the bench.

Plan A - 3-5-2, Brooks next to the striker
Plan B 4-2-3-1, Basham off, Holmes on

Would seem good options.

Agreed, but also (possibly) the best free kick taker we have. This is why I would like to see him start more.

Plan C...in the summer buy 2 proper quick strikers who take their chances...difficult and expensive but scraping around paying 50k for Donaldson and signing Manure never will bes on loan has cost us dearly this season

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours in an off-hand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say

Only if Wilder agreed with your silly, knee-jerk ‘Brooks must start every game’ nonsense. Luckily, he doesn’t. The lad has a lot to learn, as do you.

Ironside... Ironside...

Did I say for Brooks to start every game?
I agree Ironside great detective

Yup, three games in and he's a misfit.

I'm sometimes amazed at the far sighted footballing judgement that some of my fellow Blades possess. IIRC Clarke was a waste of space last year, Stearman was rubbish and Lundstram won't make it.

Positive player though, will try to go through a defence rather than around it.

Agreed.
Holmes has been unlucky in that his only start was Wolves where we were on a hiding to nothing. When he's come on as sub, we've been chasing the game and he seems to be getting blamed for not turning losing positions around all on his own.

You did indeed. In from the off, starting Saturday is much the same thing.

Everyone knows better than the manager when we lose a match. Our fans would walk any ‘jerk dem knees’ contest. They really ought to grow up and realise that in any competitive sport you win some and you lose some, unless of course you have a chemical turbocharge like that cheating, lying fucker, Wanker Wiggins.

Think I might have this read at my funeral. Very true, especially the last verse :(

Not a fan of tennis given your earlier post, and now apparently not a cycling afficionado either?

You really do offer us a wonderful service, by concentrating your great gifts on our beloved Blades then?

Tennis I can take or leave but I do acknowledge excellence. Any list of the greatest sportsmen of all time that doesn’t have the legendary Roger Federer at or near the top is not worth the crayons used to compile it.

Cycling is no sport at all. Bent from top to bottom. Jiffy Wiggs is but the latest in a very long line. Then he insults the intelligence (only amoebae in Lycra will believe a word he says) with his transparent lies. Track and field (I used to watch it avidly but don’t even know the names of the cheats now) is just as bad.

Corruption everywhere. I’ll stick to Football, Golf and Cricket on the basis of ‘least bad’ and that no drug can manufacture talent. I ❤️ boxing too, but that’s another story.

I only said seems Coco thats first impressions the other three did.

To stop fucking about and get Brooksy in from the off starting Saturday
Is he 100% to start?

Wilders post match comments suggested that he wasn't there yet (i'm guessing because of the illness) but it was nice to have him back.
