Before the Forum divides into moaners, knockers and Specsavers (i.e. those wearing rose and white tinted spectacles), please we are all Blades.

Like thousands of others I am bitterly disappointed. Yet again United have screwed it up. I have little time for those who say we don't always screw up because err we do. For a club that seems to get away with it look at Barnet, like Coventry for years total garbage but when it matters avoids relegation. Indeed the Pigs have a similar tendency. The seasons they have skirted with relegation and always seem to pull it off. I can only think of two seasons when we really pulled it off, both under Bassett’s era, though you could argue Warnock saved us from the clutches of Heath's disastrous start.

What really bugs me is United's love affair with failure. Surely there is something endemically wrong with the club that never fails when it matters to screw up. So here we are at the play offs yet again, largely because of Ched Evans' penis. Had he not been convicted I doubt we would have failed to beat Stevenage and Exeter. We would have done it.

I had hoped a 2-1 win would have lifted the team but oh no we go and let Exeter back into the game. The win was important for rebuilding confidence. And now it must be shot.

United must do something they have never done. Win an away game in a play-off fixture. Personally I don't see it. I see a repeat of the league fixtures, Stevenage to win there and a draw at BDTBL. Wouldn't it be great to be proved wrong? My forecast is Stevenage v MK final with Stevenage going up.

But what is needed is some deep-rooted analysis of why United are such bottlers. I remember as a lad that for 20 years they never got past the 4th round of the FA Cup and until Bassett I think (?) they hadn't won an away FA Cup replay for 50 something years (away at Brighton?). It has been so painful with this club and I want to know why. We are just utter garbage. After MK we should have been up for Stevenage but no DW couldn't motivate his players. So today was academic. Just imagine having beaten Stevenage last week conceding to Exeter and gifting the blue bastards promotion. Yes it could have been worse.

I want to know is the club intrinsically nesh? Why are we so crap at even getting success just some of the time?

I blame Darren. He said Ched would get off and he was wrong. He argued that we don't bottle it and again, he was wrong. I blame Darren.

Danny will be revving them up as we speak

DW, "Look lads we have had this worse, remember the Semi-Final loss at Wembley, that were worse wern't it ?"

Lads, "But you won Boss"

DW, "Agent Wilson to Hillsboro, cover blown, cover blown"

Whilst the footballing Gods have had to go to new and incredible lengths to fuck us up this year, it's true to say that the season we didn't crack under pressure in 05/06 was the season we had players with experience of handling promotion race pressure and coming out the other side - Short, Unsworth, Shipperley - still smiling.

If we have to go round again next year, it might be worth looking for something similar to stiffen the squad up with.

True, that. Everyone thought we would though, with Leeds being right behind us it seemed like a car crash waiting to happen.

Just looked at the table from that season. Guess what? 90 points.

I am amazed everyone is being so constructive and balanced. 5 points ahead with 2 games in hand and we blow it to the pigs. In the immortal words of the Sopranos, as far as SUFC and I am concerned

'Fuck this Shit'

Did we blow it against Forest ,Preston , Ipswich ?

Ah Sitters but really out of all the play off finals we should have won that one. Pretty drab match if I recall. Wasn't Tuttle or someone Hutchison injured? I know Ned was but I seem to remember an outfield player didn't make it either.

Against Wolves they were on a run (and it has come to haunt us again) and I went out ofthe ground when Brown screwed up the spot kick. After that I went back to Newport on the train and threw the scarf in a bin at the station in disgust I was that mad!

We do seem to get kicked in bollocks a lot. Had a bit of a discussion about it at the beamback earlier. We never have one of those 'bringing it back from the dead' moments, or a bit of luck - when it really matters. Probably more the latter.

Both of our relegations from the Premier League were bizzare. Our defeat in the FA Cup Semi Final 2003, was under unusual circumstances (Poll incident, then THAT save). I could go on, but you all know the score. I'll always be a Blade and try to be optimistic, but there's always some niggling thing in the back of your mind saying, 'what next'? If something will happen, it does with United. We're a nearly club and I don't know why. Everyone at the club has changed over the years, so it's nothing there. Some fans could be blamed to a certain degree, maybe in recent years, but again that's a result of what's happened in the past.

Next up - 'Pigeon Denies Blades' Last Minute Winner Against MK Dons In Play Off Final'... A stray pigeon swoops down as Williamson plants one in the top corner. The ball hits said pigeon and deflects out for a goal kick. Bugger!

could have sworn the pigs neshed out against Palace the other year.. however i do understand what you are on about. like i said in another post, just who have we upset?? like we didn't run over a cat but bulldozed a cattery with a tiger tank.. we did upset West Ham and the FA though.. hmmmm..

Think maybe a lack of experience and leadership has cost us automatic this year. Compare with 05/06 - Paddy Kenny, Short, Morgs, Monty, Shipperley, Akinbyi. Contrast with this year with only maybe Cresswell, Collins and Doyle as leaders on the pitch.

Also the left back problem should have been addressed, nobody has pulled up many trees there this season with the exception of maybe Jean-Francois but he's hardly a safe pair of hands for that position.

Anyway, we've a game Friday. We usually win play-off semi finals.
