Tickets for the derby

If we’re on about students, they simply don’t go to football at their host town/city and why would they? If they’re UK students they’ll have a team already (would I have gone down Elland Rd in my uni days? No chance), and I’m not sure foreign students will have the appetite for English football and be the cash cow people think. If so, they’ll be coming in their droves to BDTBL already.

The foreign students have the appetite for English football. If any of the North West’s big four are in action, you can guarantee there will be a load of them crossing the Pennines, getting their tickets off viagogo or Stubhub, and coming back all smiles resplendent in their half and half scarves,

There's regularly a big group in the BL upper tier so I assume the club work with the universities. I was sat near them for the last home game. It's funny watching them pose for photos but they were all on their feet when McG scored.

Imagine how many Chinese students we’d get if we owned a Chinese football club
..... oh wait
Or when the Chinese investors come on board

In the league 1 season under Adkins I used to sit in the Bramall Lane corner stand and also used to see about 20 Chinese students up there every match. One match I was sat next to one and spoke to him, he told me his local team was Beijing Guoan and said he was impressed how high the standard was in the English 3rd tier and thought United were good enough to play in the Chinese top flight.
He also told me his favourite player was Mark Duffy, said he was a lovely player to watch.

You must be making it up........

True but what about neutrals/ football lovers who want to witness a big event.
The Steel City Derby attracts interest from fans who don’t support either United or Wednesday.

No it doesn’t.

Still looking for a ticket for a friend who's a neutral who wants to come to this game. Oh wait, he doesn't exist? Carry on

Yep, I never went to BDTBL when I was at university here and didn't keep going after I left and I don't now have a season ticket, I don't exist, carry on, you're on for a hat trick of bollocks here

Did you go to university, having read some of your previous posts, that surprises me

This season it's changed, me as a season ticket holder can't just buy an extra ticket, I have to give the name and address of someone on the system, last year for the pig game I bought three tickets for mates, and you can't this year, it's a stupid policy!!!!

So did I but some STHs were reported to have bought tickets for Wendy mates for the home stands. That's stupid too.

'Back in the day', young kids were offered free/cheap tickets in the hope they'd return, hopefully for many years. Now it's gone too far the other way, where 'walk-up' punters willing to just pay on the door are actively discouraged. I can't imagine any other business pursuing this 'model'.

Why not register them on the system so they can go to the other big games . ?

So all this moaning boils down to you not being able to get tickets for your mates. If they were regulars they could get their own. If not they probably wouldn't be that bothered if they missed it. The tickets you bought for those ( no customer number, I presume) friends will now go to proper blades.

I might be lone voice but I don't care about a ticket, it's on Sky I can watch it in pub or at home spend £30+ on ale and food and I won't feel I've missed out on anything.

And you see more on telly but you don't get the same atmosphere! ;)

I can't get my head around it either. It's as if the club think they are doing someone a favour by allowing them to buy a ticket and they should be grateful. In any other leisure industry it's the other way around. Crowds are declining at the Lane compared to last year even though our prospects are the best in years and people are asking why. The club don't help themselves sometimes.

what your casual part timers don't think we have 28k of them

Not casual part timers, just people that either live in a different part of the world or a different part of the country.
There are more than 28,000 in existence that won't be in the stadium who if asked "what is their favourite football club" they'd say Sheffield United,
We've apparently got 60,000 on the membership database

So are you saying these Blades who live away from Sheffield haven't bought a ticket to see the Blades to see them play in 6-7 games in total over the last 12 years so they cant get a ticket? Really ?

We still give tickets away to students and school kids for some low profile games. What I am surprised at is that we don't have a facility whereby fans can buy tickets online and they can scan at the turnstile just using their phone. This means that ' walk ups' can still happen on the day of the game

No, my comments had nothing to do with who's getting a ticket or not getting a ticket.
I'm saying that living somewhere on planet earth there are more than 28,000 Sheffield United fans who won't be in the stadium.

Twofootedtackle said we haven't got 28,000 casual/part time fans, I said there will be more people who support Sheffield United not in the stadium than what will be inside the stadium

Well with still 3 weeks to go, there’s only about 1500 left, so heading for a sell out anyway I would have thought

You can. You just have to state their name, address and date of birth.

The s2 4su hive mind is like ever decreasing circles...

I live abroad, due to finances I only make a handful of games a season. Other than pig game, I go to whichever game ties in with me being over so points never been an issue.

My tickets are bought by family & friends therefore I only have 250 loyalty points & cant go to pigs game.

Before moving away I had a season ticket for at least 15 years. But according to your bollox I’m not a “proper Blade”

Ps I agree with away games going to those with the most loyalty points but I disagree with your patronising “proper Blades” post.
