Appreciate that Linz but they have known the crowd would be well over 20k for over a week ( we could have all worked that out) and they could have anticipated a Christmas rush for tickets. The club could have transfered the away fans to the lower tier over a week ago. The Kop is not the ideal place for some fans especially potential new ones with young kids as it is a shit hole with poor facilities so we shold be acomo dating them as nuch as possible. The club don't get much wrong in terms of crowds and ticketing but I think that have made an error of judgement t this time
 
I can see both points of view.

On one hand I'd never leave it this late to get a ticket, however appreciate some people may not have the luxury of booking in advance.

I do think the club could use their experience in ticket sales to pre-empt these situations better. It was always going to be a big crowd and a plan B for selling additional tickets should have been considered as a possibility.
 
Still quite a lot of spare tickets for the kop "extremities" according to the club website.
 
Phoned up last Friday for ours....glad I did now! Was only Kop tickets available then, (for three together) Not looking forward to the queue to collect them though!
 
Lets hope its a sign of things to come and the club (and some fans) learn a lesson.

yes it has, but then no one knew then we would be about to go top of the league.

In reality, the club has a shortage of "quality" seats - made worse by the whole 6K of seats being for families only in John Street.

The club could (with forward thinking and wisdom) have foreseen the potential and put Oldham in the lower tier leaving another 3K seast in BUT for Blades.

What I mean by quality seats does NOT apply to the kop - for anyone over 6 foot tall they are bloody useless - you cannot sit square on with legs out in front.

I am a great supporter of the Blades in many ways, but at times our organisation lets us down.

Last week Bert sat in front of his computer. He spent 2 minutes clicking a few things, two days later an envelope full of tickets arrived at the Bert residence.
 
I appreciate that some people can't commit until the last minute, but to me, it's like leaving the turkey buying until Christmas Eve and then it being Tesco's fault they've sold out. The tickets have been on sale for weeks, available 24 hours a day online.

I'm not sure of the ramifications, but I'd imagine the away fans seating would have to be agreed with both the league and the away club in advance of the tickets going on sale. Perhaps even run by the Police and Safety Groups. I don't think it's an arbitrary decision that could be taken quickly by the club in the week running up to Christmas.

Coupled with the fact that many of the staff (both stewards and Compass catering staff) are students and may be away from Sheffield for Christmas, thus not easily recalled at the last minute, I think some fans ought to be a bit more understanding and take a little bit more responsibility for getting themselves organised.

Yes, it would be wonderful to have the ground full obviously.

Hopefully the decision will be made in ample time for most games next season....

If only we lived in a perfect worldin. Unfortunately we are a 3rd division club and we should be accommodating every fan who wants to go to the game. However I suspect all other areas of the ground won't sell out so that won't be an issue.....I hope

Splitting the away end is not easy but is doable. Theres all manner of stupid and very dull regs on escape route capacities and segregation to consider. It requires more stewarding and police and therfor cost; so aside from the organisational side of doing that, there is literally no point at all until such time as the other areas are sold out because wed just have a bigger bill and admin headaches just for the sake of it.

When the club are totally sure of a demand for the tickets, therell be Blades fans on the lane end but thats a call that can only really be made when theres a good chance the rest of the ground is full.

They are already segregated. Sat on BL upper many times.
 
They've had long enough to get in a few staff to open the lower tier. No excuse if home fans are turned away. Given the extra revenue and attendance they could've got a few more stewards whether the lower tier was to be opened or not, and move them there if needs be.

Good. How many extra quid did Bert pay? And why does hello feel United couldn't organise a pissup in a brewery?
 
The only flexibility the club has is BLUT and BLLT

BL stand is already split and has been since PL days and was split for Preston - PL semi final as a prime example.

I despair at times at what should be but isn't and it really isn't difficult to have a contingency plan ready

OK, not needed a lot of the time - but that is a reason why organisations have contingency plans in place - ready for all eventualities.

Whilst having a minor rant - corner stand between John St and the kop was designed by a 12 year old who had probably had a mecanno set for Xmas - amateurish.
