Ticketing pricing

Another thing to consider is we have a quite lot of tickets that are restricted view and the club doesn’t offer any discount for these.
I noticed that when I was buying a ticket for Leeds away, they offer at least a small reduction in price for a seat with a restricted view
Id have paid double for a restricted view last season.

Whilst I don't agree with the ticket pricing it's quite right that those who find it too expensive just don't go . Ultimately the fall off In demand is more likely to effect pricing than any amount of complaints . Whilst it's wrong and sad that we're are effectively excluding those wanting to go for a while its the only way of making things change .
The amount of tv coverage has changed the landscape , the club will no doubt realise this and hopefully review if attendances and match day revenues are effected.

It's the reason i've pretty much stopped going, oh, and knobheads who snort "coke" (lol).

The reason I don't have a season ticket is due to SKY wanting to schedule our home games at ridiculous times. Yes we've had a run of Saturday 15:00 games of late, but just see what happens if we stay up this end of the league.........

If games were Saturday 15:00 and Tuesday 19:45, I'd buy a season ticket.

I assume you haven’t had a season ticket for about 30 years then, because that’s how long Sky have been moving fixtures 🤣

Nah had one a lot more recent than that, but they seem to be getting worse with it.

I'm not clued up on this. But a very brief Google suggests Sweden has always had highest cases of rape. So when are you suggesting it "became" the capital?

No need to answer that question. We're not in general chat.
Also reluctant to get into an off topic discussion, but don't want to let people spout stuff with no response.

The argument we are similar to the Pigs in pricing doesn't hold any water. Our dearest match day ticket of £46 is well below there's of £54. You have to scroll down to their category D price before it goes below £46. So 3 categories of pricing are higher.

We have over 60's concessions. Pigs have over 65's.

We have a separate cheaper category for U22 students. Pigs charge over 65 concession rate for the same.

We have 3 simple categories of pricing. Pigs have 6.

We have separate U18's. Pigs is U17's.

The only area where we appear to fall down is for the very young. We have a Junior Blades category but its only £2 cheaper than U18's. Pigs have both an U11 and U5 group which is lower than the Junior Blades price.

The club should look at the junior pricing but otherwise it is competitive when compared to others in the league. Fans Advisory Board should raise it but then again meetings have been cancelled as Club continues to play lip service to the principle of FAB.

SUFC don't help themselves when it comes to applying minimum points totals. I get Stoke is considered a high risk game after the trouble they caused last time and 500 points is usually the minimum requirement for this. Yet you get fans asking to borrow customer numbers because their brother only has 450 points and has been refused a ticket! Common sense needs to be applied but the shadow of SAG controlling ticket sales unfortunately continues with no leeway applied until the 11th hour.

The Club help no supporters with this stupid ticket policy one per customer if you have the correct amount of points. If you cannot afford to buy a full season ticket you should be able to buy a mini ticket in the summer and before new years day that is not the clubs policy anymore thats what the person in the ticket office told me. I paid £40 for a membership I am a pensioner I had to pay the same as adults under 60. why no discount is beyond me. They do nothing to help like they used to. The first day tickets become on sale for home games I phone the ticket office I get a paper ticket posted to me. I have family who are all Blades However they do not go anymore because they do have the points required. Why can,t I get tickets for four members of my family who work full time on shifts sometimes. they do not have the time to go down to the ticket office. This is another thing beyond me. I am sure a lot of Blades cannot get to game at Bramall Lane. why are these policies in place. Another thing how many Blades would like to rock up to the Lane on the day of a game. Against policy as usual. crowds would be even bigger than the excellent support The Blades are already getting. I do not expect the club to remove all these policies but it would make sense to move some. sorry for the rant Fellow Blades. Blade since 1966 and I will be untill i die UTB.

Derby at home in the away end upper tier was £38. 38 quid to watch a 90 game of first division football. Absolutely outrageous. I point blank refuse to pay it.
As I always say, it`s the theft of the game from the working man/woman. In addition, United now make it difficult for families to afford tickets (no deals), never mind the difficulty of actually buying them.

ive made the same point on here before about restricted view prices the club are absolutely clueless on pricing how can you possibly expect fans to pay 30/40 quid to sit behind a pillow should be offered at a tenner no more in my mind the high pricing is stopping us getting 30k crowds just doesnt make sense

Maybe they do that because for the majority of games someone could buy a restricted view ticket and sit in a non restricted view seat.

I can’t see why someone would buy a restricted view ticket when there are non restricted view tickets available.

Most games should start at 3 or midday on Saturdays or Sundays, especially when it's winter time, Sky have control of these ko times, but not many (unless we're at the top) are going to turn out on a cold winters evening to see Plymouth, Oxford etc, let alone travel up as away supporters
Too true. I do have a ST and I didn't really fancy Wednesday night. No way, I'd be going and paying OTD.

Sounds pretty comfy

I could have done with that pillow in midweek.

I was definitely nodding off in the first half.

I was definitely nodding off in the first half.
Reminds me of an old gag .

During a very boring night match someone in the crowd shouts
"turn the floodlights off and save some money "

Another guy in shouts in response
" do you mind I'm reading "

(Maybe not the right section for this post but think it needs more attention)

Seeing that Stoke at home is a Cat A game got me thinking, why are we pricing fans out? I'm a ST holder so don't have these ridiculous prices but I have sympathy for the 'pick a game' fans.

Sorry but Stoke at home just isn't an exciting game you want to pay 40 odd quid for, i certainly wouldn't be paying that. I always thought we were good pricing and encouraged new and old fans to attend? People just can't afford it these days and 2 home games in 3 days is alot at our prices. Crowds aren't that high and we're winning games with a good feel factor creeping back in.

As Tuns25 said in another thread, whatever happend to the offers we used to have?
  • The new students £10-£20
  • ST bring a friend for a tenner
  • Buy a ticket for Swansea get Luton half price
  • Quid a kid
I dont really know the route to go down but personally I think this needs putting out there to the club. Bettis and Co.
Good point, the club seems to have lost it’s way as “THE FAMILY CLUB”.

My children used to receive Birthday cards but now they send my Grandchildren emails to my account saying:
“Your present is inside” and when they are opened they offer 10% off in the club shop.
Fortunately I don’t pass them on.
When I made the point that this marketing ploy can be very cruel in these tough times I was told that everyone got this gift. That’s not even true or I’d have used it for my youngest granddaughter’s shirt, just ordered.

Still can't get my head over Stoke at home cat A. Should want as many fans in as possible, full away end and important game obviously.

well its not working up to now must still be at least 1500 left for the kop most down gangway a where most kopites seem to avoid

Whatever happened to the fans advisory board? Seem to have had one meeting and then it’s died a death.

The problem is due to increased prices they are probably still making more money even with fewer people going.

I have effectively been priced out of most home games at this point and I'm not the only one. Football is gone.

If they were called A, B and C instead of A*, A and B, and people got in their head that:

  • the bottom category is effectively a promotional tier (admittedly extremely piss poor) used in an extremely limited, mainly midweek number of matches
  • the top category is effectively milk a touch extra out of the 2-3 biggest games against rivals

Then maybe it is perceived as the "normal" price it de facto is, and that charging the normal price for Stoke is, in fact, a normal thing to do? People may still think the price is high, and that's a perfectly valid opinion to have, and I wouldn't disagree with it, but I don't know how much cheaper people expect things to be in a division where gate receipts are a much more significant percentage of revenue than the Premier League and in the context of Stockport feeling justified in charging £24 for their game with Northampton in the division below last night - which is on the cheaper end for that tier

When people say our prices are similar…what they mean is that SWFC have received alot of negate publicity about rip off pricing however ours isn’t that much cheaper (generally 10% cheaper in all categories). Also their rip off highest pricing is in their south stand but it’s not compulsory to go in that stand…my brother has an early bird season ticket in their north stand which is slightly cheaper than our south stand.

Regards the points system.
True story…I have a family member who has just arrived in Sheffield after living in Kuwait for many years. He’s a massive football fan and supports Liverpool but he’s keen to come to most Sheff Utd home matches and is even talking about getting a season ticket next season.

I’m meeting him before the match on Saturday and went on the web site to buy a ticket for him sat near to me on the Kop. The website wouldn’t let me buy one due to restrictions, so I added him to my account and still restricted due to not enough points.

So I drove down to the ticket office. They explained that Stoke is a high risk game and no tickets can be sold to new customers. Asked them if I appeal on Facebook for someone else’s customer number then would that be OK. Also explained that surely as a ST holder for decades then I should be trusted to buy 1 ticket under my name.

The person went around the back to speak to I assume the manager and thankfully they came back and agreed to sell me a ticket. Made me laugh how trying to buy a 1 ticket has so many hurdles.

At least common sense prevailed in the end.

Why is Stoke a high risk game.

I’m clued up enough to know they have have had their fair share of hoolies over the years but I’m not aware of any major disorder more recently.

Not wanting to turn this into a hooligan debate but a couple have mentioned in this thread that it’s been deemed as a high risk game

There must have been some serious shit gone on behind the scenes for United to effectively ban all new fans from buying a ticket; if they’re under restrictions why can’t they say? Derby Country was 300 LP restriction as well.
I’ve only ever heard of this happening for Pigs matches before, maybe Leeds possibly at a push, but no mark Stoke and Derby County? WTF?

Last time they came SYP lost track of their naughty boys and panicked. They bullied the landlord of the Lord Nelson into preventing anyone from drinking outside and threatened to close the pub down if he didn't. SYP had been told in advance Stoke were looking for trouble but were incapable of monitoring their hoolies. I blame Durham constabulary who haven't a clue where the ground is and no doubt directed them to the Sty. :D

Very embarrassing for SYP who will not want a repeat and so will lock down Sidney Street and Arundel Street this Saturday. There was trouble before the last game when a group of Stoke fans walked up Shoreham Street and one young scrote started throwing coins on John Street at Blades which led to confrontations.

SYP's barometer of high risk seems to be based on whether there are incidents outside the Nelson. They keep referring to Florist who threw fireworks at Blades during the play off season and the response of those stood outside the pub. As a consequence Stoke are now in the same category as Florist, Weeds and the Pigs.

I can well accept that, but it really doesn't remotely explain why the Club are not selling any tickets to any "new" fans at all. What is the likelihood of Stoke fans getting onto our Kop?
I can only assume the partial Kop closure came with a number of caveats of "any hint of trouble of any variety and no new tickets sold" - but then that was more an overcrowding & standing issue so I'm mystified.

By the sounds of what Sheffsteel said, it is possible for new fans to get a ticket, it’s just not as easy going on the website and buying one.

I’m sure if someone went into the ticket office and made a decent enough case, they’d get a ticket.
