If we had enough points come the end of the season to be promoted, but the football league turned round to you as an individual and said "Your club can go up as long as you pay us 'X' amount."

What would be the maximum amount of money you'd go up to?

We have enough points to have gone up ordinarily, but must pay on this occasion for the promotion to be granted.

So you wouldn't pay anything at all? I guess the question is what would be your best and final offer.

What would I pay? I could probably afford £20 but would resent giving every farthing of it. I'd also want assurances of it guaranteeing what was promised and I'd also mug the recipient in the darkest part of the car park to get it back too.

There are, as far as I'm aware, 24 hours per day in which to consider everything that life throws at me. Given the workload I currently have, I think this should be filed in the less than interesting section of whatever's considered unworthy of my time. It seems to be a thought shared by other reputable posters.

Another foolish mistake Barneykins, why oh why do you imagine it took me some time to reply to you? If all you have are your own sluggish standards to compare other posters by then you must readjust your sense of what's possible. Thus, no irony, instead just a factual expose of something relatively unimportant, a bit like the OP really.

You'll have heard of thinking outside of the box? Well stop counting as if a reply begins when you think it was composed. I'm just filling in those few moments in between what's truly pressing.
