I would imagine that "hands on pulse" Bettis also had a say in that new contract and possibly even Hoyland. That 3 man triangle has been broken but I firmly believe that while Bettis and Hoyland are involved in recruitment and who gets a new/extended contract then these situations will continue. An experienced Director of Football is required sooner than later who doesn't wear "blinkers"Wilder gave him a 3 year contract so he wernt going to turn that down.So as you say he's not to blame .Don't get why Wilder gave him a 3 year contract before he proved fitness after coming back from that year or so out with dire hamstrings surgery.
I think he's good lad ! That was no reason to give him 3 years.
