Those booing RND

Don't know where you sit, we were all singing at 2-1 down, convinced we'd beat them 3-2...

If I want to leave at 4-1 down I will, we weren't playing Real Madrid were we?

Seles can go now for me, incredible mistake hiring somebody whos got no idea, all my positivity completely gone in one game.
After one game? Maybe grow a spine. Just a suggestion.

All this woke nonsense , bleeding hearts for a shot pro footballer drawing a wage is just nuts.
Can't you realise that the booing is not directed at the player himself but at :
1.the stupid previous manager for giving him a sympathy contract , never intending him to play.
2.the stupid club for leaving itself in a position of having to play him because they now have literally NO CENTRE BACKS who are actually oven-ready for a promotion challenge.

How else can the supporters show their disgust at such decisions and clueless strategy ?

Jesus Christ , he must know himself that he got an undeserved contract in circumstances where most other clubs would have just moved him quietly on by not renewing.

They earn big wages coz it's a tough & risky career and some of them have bad luck.

If you think concern for someone’s mental health is “woke nonsense” you need to take a good, hard look at yourself. And having money offers no protection at all. As someone else has mentioned, look at Gary Speed. He’ll know as well as anyone that he’s no longer good enough. It isn’t his fault, nor was the 3 year contract. Booing always makes people look and sound ape like and moronic, booing someone in his situation even more so.

Some people were directing abuse towards him.

He got the contract likely because the club messed up his recovery. The state of the conditioning of players prior to this season has been shite. Wilder corrected some of the muscle injury issues but players were still blowing after 70 mins.

RND needs loaning out.

I think it's wrong to boo our own players. At the end of the day a player doesn't make mistakes on purpose and it's a fairly futile response to boo them. I doubt it will motivate them to try harder - more likely to undermine their confidence and make them more likely to repeat their errors.
Can't you realise that the booing is not directed at the player himself but at
If the booing starts immediately after a player makes a glaring mistake it's fairly obvious who it's aimed at

Anyone that boos or jeers our own players, when they've just "played badly" in my opinion aren't proper fans and don't have the best interests of the club at heart.

I get it for those who Boo'd Devlin, or Marlon King - where their morals or effort to the cause is clearly not at the standard. Or maybe if a player kept putting himself ahead of the team (e.g keep shooting when he could pass)

I remember the abuse someone like George Long got and it's just not necessary.

I didn't clap RND off, but I certainly would never boo him. I just don't get what it achieves?

Sorry have i missed something that says RND has Mental Health problems ive seen a few comparisons to Gary Speed here and may have missed something?

Also, controversial view but if Mental Health is a reason not to "boo" then this should apply to ALL not just when it suits, so to give an example, Marlon King was booed does his Mental Health not matter?

Nick, that's the sort of post from Mr 'Keen' Blade, I'd expect.
I've never blocked anyone on here in the 16 years I've resided, but his post sometimes has my finger hovering on the block button....
Total cnut.

Without being all Delia Smith, I feel fans should be another team mate, should be supporting and encouraging, not them and us. Also whilst circumstances may cause people to leave early the empty ground is akin to players giving up to me, we should be a team mate putting effort in to the end. It's a difference between being part of a club or watching a show, and we pay to be part of it rather than an audience member, or at least thats what footy used to be for me. Seems there is a mentality change and ego change of you are here to play for me, not we are here to support our team, thus people leave or boo the entertainment.
I'll leave when I want

Arrrrrrrr. Poor lad. He's signed a fucking multi year deal when we all knew he was nowhere near fit or good enough, but yes. let's not "blame him"! Poor little thing.

He's absolutely done and has been for a while now. But he's still taking great money from the club for being crap, week in, week out. Bollocks to all this "oh, we shouldn't criticise him" shit. We aren't a charity and he's a professional footballer.

I'm not saying 'make him a scapegoat' but let's not make excuses for him or anyone else either. if it's not good enough, it's not good enough!

Today was a terrible start. Fucking abysmal! Let's call it for what it was. Shit!

Move on and expect better. Much better.

And booing him helps by ...?

When did RND actually become a centre half? As I recall, in his 'prime' he was an exciting, energetic attacking left back who's defending abilities were limited. He suffered a bad injury and never seemed to regain the pace he previously had. He then had a couple of games filling in at left centre back in a three.
Why would any manager offer the guy a new contract let alone think he could play as a centre half in the current system?

I was in BLUt and heard no booing so suspect it was isolated.

That said its 2025 and in the day and age of "be kind" and "it's the taking part that counts" we should have all been giving him a standing ovation.

Apologies to all that were offended I didnt.
I was in BLUT and 100% heard some. I also heard two lads about 6 and 14 screaming W*NKER W*NKER W*NKER at one point so you know, people can be, well, W*nkers.

It will have been absolutely crushing for the lad. He will be devastated. Not only him but imagine what his team mates think of those ‘supporters’.
Exactly. Hardly going to make Cooper and Hamer think - oh I love this club I'd never leave.

Also hard to imagine it makes the owners think, oooh let's spend millions to impress these lovely fans.

Some people really are thick.

A lot of typing when I guess plenty of people stopped reading after the first four words

It's a free country mate , for you and for me.
I didn't hear any booing around me but I did hear the big cheer on his substitution.
What other quick & efficient way is there to tell the manager and the owners that they have completely fucked our defence ?
I've been wondering all summer about whether Selles has actually formed an intelligent view of the squad he inherited - has he actually spoken to people around the club and listened to their views of what's been going on at CB since JoC stopped playing 5 years ago in 2020.
Yesterday provided the answer.

No one is privy to where the stupidity lays between the manager and Bettis (a Wilder man) and the owners
But
Something really stinks about this transfer window so far.
How on earth we haven't had a proper CB on a permanent contract for so long is a total mystery.
I never boo and I dislike it , but as I said in my previous post , I can understand the enormous frustration amongst knowledgeable fans , that the manager appears not to have a clue about our stark deficiency in defence and , having sold Moore , Souza & Anel , our lack of height & strength across the pitch.

I'm sorry that all that got focussed on RND , but some sort of message needed to be sent that we have yet again started a season with gaping holes which we've all recognised for years.

And we still don't have a Director of Football to give the club some consistency in its awareness of what's needed ...
Because managers come & go

I think his best position was left back in a back four. The club playing 3-5-2 wasn't ideal for him IMO.

When I first saw him for the youth team he reminded me of a young Stuart Pearce and I think I posted he would play internationally.

He ended up doing that, but the injuries have set him back. He's been really unlucky.

Don't think I was in the ground when he went off..

Remember Paul Beesley crying on the pitch after his debut against Sunderland (correct me if i'm wrong) so I dont boo any of our players...

Regardless, RND and C3PO have both got contracts that they shouldn't have, Wilder will always get at least 2 cards on his birthday though...

(I was 56 last week...not a fucking card in sight) 😆

Wilder gave him a 3 year contract so he wernt going to turn that down.So as you say he's not to blame .Don't get why Wilder gave him a 3 year contract before he proved fitness after coming back from that year or so out with dire hamstrings surgery.
I think he's good lad ! That was no reason to give him 3 years.
Cos Wilders a wanka

I didn’t boo, but supporters will send a message if they don’t like what they see. Supporters aren’t cheerleaders, if they’re not happy, I’ve no issue with them expressing their anger, so long as it doesn’t cross the line. Booing isn't crossing the line in my opinion.

His overall performance was poor, but the pass he played for their 4th goal was beyond stupid and I think that was the tipping point for him getting booed off.

I think some of the booing RND has been mistaken for the booing of taking off Louie Barry, which happened at the same time. Booing is not ideal, but being 4-1 down at home on the first match of the season is frustrating
