Those booing RND

Wilder gave him a 3 year contract so he wernt going to turn that down.So as you say he's not to blame .Don't get why Wilder gave him a 3 year contract before he proved fitness after coming back from that year or so out with dire hamstrings surgery.
I think he's good lad ! That was no reason to give him 3 years.
I would imagine that "hands on pulse" Bettis also had a say in that new contract and possibly even Hoyland. That 3 man triangle has been broken but I firmly believe that while Bettis and Hoyland are involved in recruitment and who gets a new/extended contract then these situations will continue. An experienced Director of Football is required sooner than later who doesn't wear "blinkers"

RND was a left back not CB who before injury looked to be more than good enough
i would imagine he was given the 3yr contract because they believed he had a good chance of him eventually getting back to where he was
Re yesterday he played poorly in a poor back 4 where none preformed well but he didnt hide

Did you not see RND in those few matches he played last season ( not league matches)he was struggling then ! the injuries have done him.
He broke down under Heckie who said he had been over played and was running on empty which had a bearing on the injuries (hamstrings) he suffered.
Maybe Wilder felt we owed him one!
Who knows! But he wasn't up to speed when he got the 3 year contract.

It's a free country mate , for you and for me.
I didn't hear any booing around me but I did hear the big cheer on his substitution.
What other quick & efficient way is there to tell the manager and the owners that they have completely fucked our defence ?
I've been wondering all summer about whether Selles has actually formed an intelligent view of the squad he inherited - has he actually spoken to people around the club and listened to their views of what's been going on at CB since JoC stopped playing 5 years ago in 2020.
Yesterday provided the answer.

No one is privy to where the stupidity lays between the manager and Bettis (a Wilder man) and the owners
But
Something really stinks about this transfer window so far.
How on earth we haven't had a proper CB on a permanent contract for so long is a total mystery.
I never boo and I dislike it , but as I said in my previous post , I can understand the enormous frustration amongst knowledgeable fans , that the manager appears not to have a clue about our stark deficiency in defence and , having sold Moore , Souza & Anel , our lack of height & strength across the pitch.

I'm sorry that all that got focussed on RND , but some sort of message needed to be sent that we have yet again started a season with gaping holes which we've all recognised for years.

And we still don't have a Director of Football to give the club some consistency in its awareness of what's needed ...
Because managers come & go
Measured response and some valid points there.
I'm holding off until the window has closed and then judge whether some of the points you raise are what it is.
The fact we were in this position for the first game doesn't sit well and we paid the price royally.
I'm looking at the system Selles seems to favour and the players he fitted into it yesterday..... For much of the match it didn't work (despite the stats), whether or not we get in the players that he sees as fitting into how we want to play remains to be seen.
Priority is athletic, strong and pacy defender(s) as well as other areas where we need upgrades.
My gut feeling is we won't get what we need to be serious challengers and I really hope I'm badly wrong....
We shall see in the coming weeks on the personnel bit and a few months down the line whether this guy goes the same way as a few other managers...

Personally, I wouldn’t boo any Blades player or Blades team

Sorry, just don’t get it. If it ever comes to that for me then it’s time to stop attending
Not a god given right when you wear red and white not to be booed, boils down to effort and willingness to try and achieve what the manager wants them to do even playing out of position. RND simply not up to it but he is a highly respected pro who played for his country and missed a major tournament through injury. I don’t boo managers or directors either although if the board don’t invest after appointing Selles it will be galling as why would you appoint Selles if you don’t back him but booing isn’t the answer.

All this woke nonsense , bleeding hearts for a shot pro footballer drawing a wage is just nuts.
Can't you realise that the booing is not directed at the player himself but at :
1.the stupid previous manager for giving him a sympathy contract , never intending him to play.
2.the stupid club for leaving itself in a position of having to play him because they now have literally NO CENTRE BACKS who are actually oven-ready for a promotion challenge.

How else can the supporters show their disgust at such decisions and clueless strategy ?

Jesus Christ , he must know himself that he got an undeserved contract in circumstances where most other clubs would have just moved him quietly on by not renewing.

They earn big wages coz it's a tough & risky career and some of them have bad luck.
A pre-requisite for a pro is a thick skin and psychological fortitude that the vast majority of the crowd would never be able to imagine. They’ve gone through making it as a footballer (elite group of boys doing absolutely anything to succeed as if their life depended on it) setbacks, injuries not being chosen in the squad, loss of form, not scoring and booed by own fans, successes for promotion and failure relegation. They’ve worked hard to get where they are and get paid well but a short career, that struggle to get on the pitch at this level from a young kid playing in a back garden is unbelievably rare. RND probably feels worse than all the fans today for obvious reasons. When he comes out on the pitch he deserves a bigger applause than any other player on it.

Yes it's but nice but some players have egos so big they don't think they have played poorly so hopefully a good booing can make him know it was a poor performance.

And booing him helps by ...?
It doesn't. I never mentioned booing him or any other player. It's something I've never done.

My point is that he shouldn't be exempt from criticism. He's in the public eye and taking a great wage. He shouldn't be made into a scapegoat but we shouldn't be making excuses for him or any other player.

Has anyone in this thread suggested that he shouldn't be criticised?

Some people were directing abuse towards him.

He got the contract likely because the club messed up his recovery. The state of the conditioning of players prior to this season has been shite. Wilder corrected some of the muscle injury issues but players were still blowing after 70 mins.

RND needs loaning out.
Doubt it, not my clubs going to take him on, sadly really, before his serious hamstring injury at Coventry, he looked a great player for us and Wales, will never be the same player.
