I'm still working on it - but I'm developing the Pompous theme.....
I am not a Football Fan
I am not a Sheffield United Fan
I am a Fan of going to Watch Sheffield United

You can put that on a t-shirt if you like - to raise funds for Project ABCD
Best I can do quickly 😊

anyone know if it's true that there was/is a game today?

Just for balance, most footballers play all their lives without fans (schoolboys and amateurs) and love it.
ALL professionals played for years without fans and loved it.
Obviously having large crowds is great and desirable, but not absolutely essential, it's more like grass roots to me.

Nope. And, that gives me the chance to set the record straight. Football without fans isn't football. I'll naturally be hoping The Blades win every game. But, that's as far as it goes. I'll be back as a supporter once real football is back. Good luck to all who sail in new ball. But, it's not for me.
I've already committed to oversee the Carrier Bag Firm ABCD Project (Access Behind Closed Doors) by "distance working". That's proving to be a piece of piss at the mo'. Hence I was able to relay what eye witnesses were reporting re this "Huddersfield Friendly". What they/we/I didn't know was that it was some mad, multi format game. Hence I shot off early, reporting 2-0, because we thought it'd finished (FFS....).
I expect Programmes, Teamsheets & "Accreditation Paperwork" from the game will be reaching eBay in coming days.

Just out of interest, how do you manage to watch the academy matches and maintain an interest? That must only be watched by parents, coaches, scouts and a handful of fans like yourself.

Hi mate. I'd turn that point 180 degrees. How could anyone NOT thoroughly enjoy watching Academy matches? Kids playing football for United. Putting everything they've got in. Week after week. No contract disputes. No last pay day signings. No screaming in the ref's face. No "have you heard what he said in The Sun?". No Coppers on your case all afternoon. No Stone Island wannabees making throat slitting gestures. "Where's the no. 8 from?" "Have you seen no. 3 before". Oh look here's the manager, I'll ask him (miss you Travis). Jetting around the country. Visiting as many microbreweries as I/we can. Scouring the Guides for pubs we've never visited before. Ticking off grounds I'll probably never see United play at again. Dulwich Hamlet. Southport. Bishop Auckland. Saying hello to Chris Wilder. (He was a permanent fixture at Shirecliffe when he managed Northampton). Listening to the Everton Scout who picked Calvert-Lewin and hearing what he'd seen in him that Utd hadn't. Wanting to see my team win. But, it ain't life or death. No cat kicking. There's always next week. Trophies at the end of some seasons. (Did I mention visiting microbreweries yet?). Gauging. Assessing. Guessing. What can he do? Has he got a right foot as well? Watching a youngster, playing out of his skin, putting opponents on their arse, for fun, turning them all over the shop, scoring at will. And thinking "I wonder, I wonder, maybe this time...." (Miss you Diego). The thrill of the Blag. Millwall away. Behind Closed Doors you say. Will you still go Phil? Hold my fucking beer. That beer purchased in The Star And Garter, Bromley by the way. Have you been in there YES Blade ? I'd thoroughly recommend it. Seeing a kid, seven stone wet through, they can't even find a pair of shorts that'll fit him. What's going on here? Wriggling. Is that ball glued to his fucking foot? I wonder, I wonder, maybe this time.... (Miss you Brooksy). Football. 11 v 11. Beer. Japes. First look at Harry Maguire's legs, Terry Kennedy's arse. Every day out thoroughly enjoyable. I used to say - if you watch Jake Wright Junior play & don't come away with a smile on your face, you're not a football fan. People watch Hallam FC, people watch Chesterfield, people watch Liverpool, people watch England, the World turns. It's not for everyone.....
(As an aside, watching Academy football means I now run the Pre-Eminent Parody Football Firm on the internet - a phrase I never expected to use)

All sounds good.

So it's basically watching on TV that is the issue, not the lack of crowds? If you could get into the stadium and stand on your own you'd be fine with that?

More to the point what's he doing back?

I find they swing wildly between 'I'm bloody freezing, going through the motions' and 'this is actually more enjoyable than the first team' (not for a few years now).

Ah, I've got you now..... You make a valid point. Because I don't think I would be fine getting into one of the upcoming Behind Closed Doors games and "watching the game". I realise that's contradictory with what I put about watching Academy Football. Basically, I'm compartmentalising. I thoroughly enjoy all football at all levels. I've traveled around the world watching England play. I've been to Iran v Iraq. I slog around watching Utd's first team. I'm saying THOSE BIG games without fans is not football. (and, again, good luck to Utd, and good luck to all fans who are desperate to see Utd on the tele, I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying it's not for me.) But, I'm also saying, lower level football, including SUFC Academy, I'm fine watching in small crowds. It's not one size fits all. As I co-ordinate Project Access Behind Closed Doors (ABCD), currently, I'm more interested in helping and advising the more extreme Carrier Bag Firm members on how to get in.

(I once saw Joe Root play in a 55,000 seater stadium, I was the only spectator if you exclude Steven Finn's girlfriend)

I was expecting something about ale, bits of meaningless paper, something about beer, a disclaimer and something about new ale.

Yes, but how do you maintain an interest apart from all that 😀

Simply loveleh 😀

These lower league sides are useful for our fitness and goal scoring practice. Anyone know if Wendy are prepared to help us out or is Barnsley our last one

Nice to see Zivkovic on the scoresheet. Hope we get to see him on the box. I'm not exactly excited at the prospect of no fans football, but I've had enough of Belarusian league and Bundesliga for quite a while, will be nice to watch summat I actually care about the results of. I'm planning on getting smashed as flip for every blades game and hoping I don't notice the crowd situation. Probs just stick some bangers on and watch on mute or summat, who knows. Oh well, we can make up for it in Azerbaijan or wherever the funk we fly our flag next season. UTB

Zivkovic will play a part and his speed is off the scale.
