If you can’t criticise you can’t move forward and become stagnant. Now this is pretty hard to do because we currently sit 5th in the premier league (still can’t get my head around it)

If we were more clinical in front of goal, this is a big case of “if’s and buts” .... if we turn 3 draws into wins by being more clinical that’s an extra 6 points which would put us currently 4th and 4 points infront of Chelsea in 5th..... I mean imagine that !! It’s not far from happening either. That’s what we should be looking at moving forward in my opinion. I think we all know it and Wilder will be thinking the same too. Moving forward it’s taking our chances and living the unthinkable.

To be fair I think we come out pretty high in chances converted, and it may be 'chances created' that we need to improve, but I get your point.

I think some times we seem to get done by a simple long ball over the top and fail to deal with it leading to a goal. There is room from improvement in quite a few areas which gives me hope this journey isn't at its final destination just yet!

No complex Xg here, just percentage of shots on target converted to goals scored, we’ve only scored 2 from headers this season but from memory we’ve had plenty of headers on target. Maybe something to work on.

I've seen a few teams try to recreate Newcastle's first goal against us. The centre forward runs toward the centre circle to drag Egan forward, the ball is flicked into the space behind for the runner. Can't remember who it was that scored a similar goal to it against us.

The main "criticism" of us is that we need to hold more possession. We're probably up there for chances converted and we still play a lot of good attacking football. The big difference between this season and the last, unsurprisingly, is that we've seen far less of the ball and so chances are harder to come by.

We're doing pretty much as well as can be done with our current resources and imo we don't have a problem where the solution isn't to find better players. That's going to be a tall order looking at our budget relative to our position in the table. It's one of the reasons that sneaking European football would be so good because it would make us such an attractive prospect for any other Sander Berge's out there wanting a Prem move.

‘If you can’t criticise you can’t move forward and become stagnant.’

Whatever we discuss on here will have absolutely no bearing on Wilder and Knill’s thinking. It’s a message board and there’s nothing wrong with discussing how we can improve but let’s not pretend what we’re typing is of any benefit to anyone but ourselves, or get upset when CWAK see things and do things differently.

There is no way we are going to finish 5th or even 6th unless we start having a lot more decent shots on goal
Another 12 draws will keep us safe from relegation but won't win us Champions League places

Sorry about rattling your cage

I’m gutted now, I’ve been living my life safe in the knowledge that CWAK are eagerly awaiting my next post so they know how to play this week.

You could have let me down gently 😭.

False position we have only played 5 teams that are above us so far we will get found out YHIHF ;)

My biggest criticism is that we never play 🙄.

We've got 3 games in February. A mate of mine is an Oxford fan, they've got 9 !!!

I'm getting bored waiting for the next game

I'm loving this season but it's that good I'm now counting the days down to the BHA game, having done the same for the AFCB game. Glad it's not Saturday Tuesday Saturday, Fleetwood, Walsall, then the big one V Bradford though

My biggest criticism is the GAP between us an‘t pigs is to close  Wilder out

Headed efforts are generally low quality chances, though. Isn't that a bit like saying we should work on converting a higher percentage of our 25 yard volley attempts?

From a not very forensic high level view it seems to me we have gone from playing very well and, through var etc, not getting the results we deserve, to playing much less creatively and nicking a few. I hope the return of Didsy can get us back to playing better but also getting the points. What a fantastic end to the season that would be. headers on target by our defenders at corners / free kicks is one notable area where improvement could pay real dividends.

But we're currently 6th 2/3s of the way into the season...... So why do we need more shots to stay there?

The teams around us are certainly gonna step it up a level and we have to do that too, we need to be more clinical and if we are we'll finish well. It's a blessing that Son got injured, they're without 2 main strikers now and that could be the difference

Our defence mean we don't concede many so we are hard to beat. But without scoring goals, it's hard to win. So we grind out 12 draws, another less consistent but higher scoring team lose 7 but win 5 and overtake us.
Time to rediscover the fearlessness of the start of the season and really push on.

We have spent time finding the right combination of strikers. Their goals to games ratio is too low because of this.
The midfield is ticking over nicely with contributions from Fleck and Lundstram, but the strikers need to start putting chances away.
Is Didsy really so influential that our strikers are missing him?

I get your point, but not really.

We’re not the kind of team to regularly make 25 yard attempts, when these shots are made they’re usually speculative or the result of a loose ball dropping in the right place.

We do set up to play down the channels and cross into the box, I would think that scoring from headers is a skill to be perfected when playing this way.

I feel like we played better football at the start of the season, but as teams have adapted and tried to mitigate our offense out wide we have had to mix it up with being more direct with long balls of late. I feel like some teams in the top half are scared to play the long ball especially out from the back/keeper as it doesn't look pretty or they don't have the aerial ability up front. Mcburnie has been amazing lately using his strength and hold up to win the second balls in our long ball game. We seem to know how to get results regardless of how we play so long may it continue!!

In the last 4 seasons our points totals have gone 100, 69, 89, but this season we are on course for 57.

That people are struggling to find anything to criticise is staggering, the trend is clear to see and I somethines think people are a bit blinkered when it comes to Wilder.
You do know what leagues these points were accumulated in don't you, were in the Prem now .
