North Sheffield. NOT South Barnsley.
We wanted to be tested against the very best. We wanted to be seen as equals by the cream of the league. Tomorrow is our first REAL test (Chelsea are an average team these days). Make your honest, non-Bladey predictions here. Liverpool are a league above anything we've faced since Lord CW arrived. Do we have a chance? Or is it just a case of damage limitation in terms of GD?

Personally my prediction is 1-3. I think we will score, but I think they will just have too much for us.

Tough to call this.
Liverpool should have had too much for us when we beat them 1-0 when Hamson scored. Likewise in the League Cup semi at BDTBL.
I'd be the most surprised if they gave us a hammering.
1 goal in it either way for me.
Would I take a draw now if offered?
Naaaaahhh. Let's end their winning streak by getting all 3 points :)

The reigning European champions, at Bramall Lane, playing us in the top flight of English football as equals.

Let that sink in.

That’s where Wilder and his team have brought us. After Weir, Adams, Clough, Adkins, and the often turgid fare we had to endure, we are playing against the best team we’ve faced in years, and it’s not in a cup competition where we got the luck of the draw. It’s in the league. Three points are available to the winner. Hopefully that’s us, but if it’s not, then so fucking what? We are in this league on merit. We have the manager and players to stay in it, and to compete with the very best.

Hope we take any chances that come our way and don't make any daft mistakes if we manage that we have a chance, we could still lose 4-0 but if we're fluffing chances and giving them away against the form team we'll get battered.

As long as we give it a reet good go and give a fully passionate committed performance and effort then I will be happy regardless of the result .

Unfortunately I can see us losing 1-3 . I think their quality will show through . Bash with our goal

I’ve made honest predictions in the past, nearly always predicted that we’d lose

But it’s weird how when ever we play Liverpool at home we always either play really well or are really lucky.
In the last 11 matches played at Bramall Lane. We’ve won 6 matches, 4 matches were draws and Liverpool have won only ONCE.

So logic suggests we’ll lose probably 1-3.
However due to past battles I always feel an inner confidence playing Liverpool, so it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s 1-1.

They’re not all that, used to playing the usual Euro style nonsense. Wilder 1 - Klopp 0

My son said tonight would I take a 1_2 defeat, I said, after some consideration, no I wouldn't, I have to say we are in the pub, but at the time I wasn't tooooooo pissed, 1-1

Unofrtunately I think we will get a hammering 0-4

I remember a Blade being interviewed on RS before the Liverpool game on Boxing Day 1993 and when asked what he thought the score would be, said exactly what you said, 0-4.

The interviewer asked him why and he said “because I’m an optimist”. We got a 0-0 out of that and a similar outcome tomorrow would be decent. Don’t think they were on a 15 match winning run mind.....

I’m a realist, and manage my expectations in order to manage my in-game heart rate in the knowledge that what I think has absolutely no effect on the game!

One shot on target v Everton suggests we’re not likely to get many chances. Billy and Goldie missing, can’t see McB getting much out of VVD or our Robbo being physical enough. Our chances of scoring probably rely on a Moose moment again.

At the other end I can’t see them not getting a pen, with the footspeed of Salah and Mane. After that we’ll be scared to hang out a leg.

So reluctantly I would say 0-4 or 1-3 at best. What I fear most is Jack or Flecky or Lunny having a red mist red card moment and missing games that we really need to get something out of.

Far more chance of getting something out of a dodgy Citeh defence.

Magic to be here though

It's a long way from League 1 days, when unfashionable clubs would come to the Lane and play their socks off for a result against mighty Blades.
We have yet to play to our strengths at home this season, despite decent attendances and vociferous support.
The team owes the fans a great day at the Lane. Hope Wider has them properly fired up for it.
I fancy Didsy to break his duck today.

Maybe the beer talking, but I'm convinced of a banana skin for them / we will play out our skins tomorrow. 2-1 blades and a massive hangover Sunday. UTB

I don't think this team owes the fans anything.

Most of them are well in credit.
Just my personal view from afar, trying to separate optimism and mythology. My view is that, for all the great things they have achieved under Wilder, a strong, stand out performance at the Lane in the EPL, is one thing thats missing. :)
So far. :)

1 - 1

Got a feeling they will get a dodgy decision late. A penalty, foul in the buildup, us a disallowed goal and they score after...

Yes, it's what we've been dreaming of for years, and building for under CWAKs expert hands.
Like Wilder says, we didn't get in the Prem on a raffle win or to be the whipping boys.
At the same time we all now this is double the test we have faced this season.
I'm so proud to be a Blade today, I'm bursting to see us do our thing on the big stage. Whatever happenss, it's going to be rocking today, and should be a celebration of how far we've come.
COYRAWWWWWWW.

Absolutely. No time for Warnock-esque "we're just happy to be here" bollocks. I fully expect us to go at them today and give it our best. They MIGHT be too good, and beat us on merit, but I expect all of our lads to be fucked at full time, whatever the result, and who knows, maybe we can pull off a shock and give Garth Crooks and all his cronies something to think about!

UTB!

Clearly the obvious outcome is we will lose, they have a world class side and brilliant individuals
But how fantastic is it that we are playing them after the last 12 years of being out of the PL
Enjoy the day, make it a hostile atmosphere and give it a real go

As long as we finish with 0 red cards today depriving us of players for future games, then I'll be happy.

Realistically anything better than that would be an amazing result.

No red cards and no injuries, just go out and give it a real go.

If we score just one against them, it will be fantastic. A loss against Liverpool is expected, a draw would be great, a win would be incredible.

Billy Sharp to come off the bench, 10 minutes to go...........

No matter what, let's have a noisy, hostile, BDTBL, let Liverpool know that we are not here to make up the numbers.

UTB.
