till after the Coventry match as I think Oxford will be so deflated and knackered after losing to Coventry that they will struggle against Fleetwood. Not sure how Coventry will react but lets hope they were all pissed afterwards

No fault in our stars this week , don't you worry , we'll beat SISU and Fleetwood won't win at Oxford.

Hard to predict how Wednesday will pan out tbh. I think we will play Cov off the park but still may not win. Fuck knows how Oxford and Fleetwood will end up.

They won't be deflated. They'll be resurgent because they have the play-offs to fight for. Losing in a daft trophy will only spur them on.

And besides, the laws of irony state that Oxford will be the team that gets Wilder promoted.

In a way i think a draw between Oxford and Fleetwood would be the worse result for us.

This is because if we then beat Coventry we will be in the weird position of being all but up, but not mathematically. Do we celebrate/ have a pitch invasion or not? It would feel strange to do so without it being confirmed, and perhaps Wilder & the players would feel uncomfortable joining in.

If (when) we get promoted I want it to be nailed on, no ifs buts or maybes. Then we can really celebrate as a club.

It's very close to certain that one or more teams will be knocked out of contention by Wednesday night (especially Scunthorpe, but also possibly Bradford and Southend), but I agree with the others; it's not fully in United's control as to whether they clinch automatic promotion by then. I think the Northampton Town game is more likely to be the clincher for the Blades, to knock Fleetwood out of contention.

Still, one hopes for the United-Southend-Oxford trifecta, to make it happen sooner, than later.

Have a pitch invasion fuck it call it a rehearsal for when your at our place

I don't care as long as it happens at Northampton. I really do need to get that 'Exeter' game. I feel I am owed a moment in the sun!

I'm of the ilk that we are more likely to win promotion on Wednesday than not.

Fleetwood lost to relegation fodder at home and now have a fairly long midweek trip to a side with a point to prove.

We've got bottom of the league Coventry at home who'll still be parading the trophy around Wembley in their minds.

It's on.

Seem to recall that the other two occasions we got promoted out of this league were both midweek ?
83/84...by default waiting for the Burnley v Hull result to come in and 88/89 at Wolves, as good as job done barring something ridiculous like a 13 goal swing in the final match.

Think we'll absolutely batter Coventry. Can feel the biggest win of the season coming along. However the other game could go either way

I reckon we'll beat Cov, but I can't see Oxford beating Fleetwood. Not saying it can't happen, just a feeling it won't.

Finishing the job away at Northampton, although not ideal for the fan, seems somewhat poetic with the Wilder connection.

This was my thought too and then I thought 6 years stuck in the pub league if we do get promoted on Wednesday no one will notice due to the high profile premier league games on the same night! Sheff utd the proverbial eternal mushrooms!

I know many Blades are predicting that we'll win at Northampton but what are your thoughts NTFC, do you fancy it or do you think we'll win?

Interestingly Fleetwood are unbeaten away in 10 games so may not be finished on wdnesday night but I dont mind when we do it as long as its done and the sooner the bettter

Coventry. New manager - on a winning streak.Three games on the trot. Let's not count any chickens? I feel a tough game coming on. We'd have drawn at Coventry without the time out of a pitch invasion as I remember. Sorry miserable Blade - Monday morning.

Not miserable , just common sense . No doubt Wilder / Knill will be saying exactly the same . Viewing Coventry as a nonentity walkover at our peril IMO .

Hopefully you do it at our place wilder and knill will get massive respect from our lot. Good luck either way, you been in wrong division for far to long
Hope that respect extends to the sufc fans , as I will be sat in the middle of them on Saturday , courtesy of Northampton based family!

I think anyone who imagines that Coventry will be a pushover should think again.
3 wins on the trot now (?) including a morale boosting underdog win at Wembley!
They'll be bouncing and be a sterner test than an enfeebled Bolton were!

and whilst there maybe some truth in that Harris, the simple fact is we're a better team than they are. We have better players and a far superior manager.
If we're "at it" we will win.

Obviously if Trevor Kettle rocks up as ref it's 50/50 with all our natural advantages wiped out at a whistle, so lets hope he's engaged elsewhere.
