A collection of things that have be told to us (usually by Pigs but others too)...

- The Championship is a massive step up from league one.
- We haven't spent enough money to compete.
- Our players only looked good because we were against awful teams in League 1.
- Billy Sharp won't be able to score in the Championship.
- Our midfield will be 'found out' when we play against 'more experienced' Championship midfields.
- Jake Wright couldn't make the step up to the Championship.
- Duffy won't be good enough in the Championship.
- Pigs will be going for automatic promotion :D
- The Championship has been totally transformed since we were last here and is now more akin to La Liga.

Absolutely loving proving everybody wrong. :):)

Early days, but good days.

Must be crap, trying to convince 'the local minnows', that spending millions and not investing in your clubs infrastructure is the right way to go.

Like getting a shit tattoo. You're lumbered with it, so, to save face you have make out the guy doing it is the greatest artist ever. No one wants to look like a plonker, but one look, with an ounce of sense shows them up for the delusion fools they are.

It's a pretty good time to be a Blade

The Championship is a step up from League 1. How big a step up depends on what level of team you came out of League 1 with. If, like Wednesday, you just scraped it with a set of average Joe footballers then the Championship was always going to be a "massive" step up - which is exactly what they found. That's why they were nearly relegated in the first two seasons back in the Championship. We left League 1 under different circumstances. We didn't scrape out -we smashed it. Playing some excellent standard football that would not be out of place in the Championship. This is why I've always believed that we could be pushing for the top 6 with the addition of one or two quality players. This is why I've had a pop at folks on here for suggesting that "survival" and "consolidation" is the main aim this season. Not when you've got a team and manager as good as this one it isn't. And as for that dense twat on Radio Sheffield, who has mentioned the word "relegation" all summer when talking about Sheffield United's prospects this season - I hope he's enjoying eating some fuckin humble pie because there's a much bigger slice of it heading his way soon.

Don't a lot us say the same things after we lose? :)

Exactly this, at the start of the season the chap I sub for (Newcastle fan) bet me £50 we would go straight back down,,,, I SNATCHED HIS FRIGGIN HAND OFF.
Although to be fair he'd not seen us play and has quite a few pigs working for him.
He went to the game yesterday and afterward told me''' that's my £50 gone then .
Said he could easy see us top six if we play like that this season.
Pity he wouldn't listen to me before hand haha.

its already a great season for us, but my goal has always been survival, unlike the pigs we haven't sold a premier league return ticket and don't get above ourselves, solid season building a proper team and consolidating on this division, anything else is a bonus... remember we're supposed to get our arses handed to us every week...;)

The Grunting snortbeat 10.000.000 Rhodes Scored 2 goals last year Billy Sharp won't be able to score in the Championship. No he's Just scored 4 in 5 games

The Championship is a big step up from L1 and survival and consolidation is still the aim. One great win doesn't change that.

^^^^ This.

Though it's the nature of folk - after we lost to Cardiff we had people on here wondering where our next win would come from and saying we can't compete at Championship level. Then 2 wins later the Championship is easy and we should be looking at top 6.

The truth, as ever, is somewhere in the middle. What yesterday has shown is, at home, we do have the ability to play like we did last season and beat good sides in this league which is a great boost. I still think we need more pace away from home though as we won't control matches nearly as much.

The aim must be to stay up still and I think we will comfortably - I just don't want people thinking finishing somewhere like 15th will be a bad season because it won't.

Some do get above ourselves. Read this board and instead of just enjoying the ride, some are already wiping their cock on the curtains.

Agree, one off results mean nothing and don't change a thing.
It's performances and consistent performances that are a better clue regards what we can achieve.

It wasn't the 3-1 result but the manner of the performance that impressed me yesterday.
Our midfield schooled their midfield and we seemed to have slightly more quality all over the pitch.

Now let that sink in..........any neutral watching that match would say we have more quality and class than Derby.
Last week we totally outclassed Barnsley, it was men against boys stuff and so embarrassing for Barnsley fans.

It's early days yet but it's very likely we'll improve during the season, so it's all very promising.

Completely agree. If we lose the next two the world will be over (again) for some.

Great start and we'll be strong at home, but make no mistake teams will improve as the season goes on. No easy games at this level and we can't afford to be complacent as a team and as fans.

I think Sun'lan will be in for a shock.
Teams with little heart are going to really struggle against us.

Norwich and Sunderland coming up. Two teams who are shipping goals all over the place and whose confidence must be shot to shit.
It's as good an opportunity as any to hit some momentum from here on.

Defiantly going to enjoy the Blades winning again, but I think most of our fans realise that staying in the Championship is the first target, and finishing higher than the pigs, and/or a push to the play-offs would be a huge bonus. It is good to see comments from the fans of other clubs writing us off, it then means that they will be putting pressure on their own team to beat us, and as we know ourselves been expected to win against "lesser teams" does have it's own pressure.

The Championship is a huge step up from league one and mistakes are punished, we've seen this already.

Away from home we've come up against two sides who've managed to suppress our style of play and it's a concern that we've not had any answers. Yes we could've nicked a draw against Boro and perhaps got more out of the Cardiff game IF like Wilder said, we'd been better at both ends. I also disagree with Wilder that we competed in those games in midfield, we were overrun in both and I'd suggest both sides eased up in midfield once the job was considered done for them.

At home though it's been a very different story, dominating Barnsley (absolutely) and Derby ( from what I understand as this is based on reports), but much more of an even contest v Brentford. In these games we've been able to get the lead and work on it. The home test will come if we go a goal down.

The strengths that we possessed in league one are really benefitting us in this division - hard work, fitness, organisation and not wasting the ball, although the latter we've done away from home a lot more

We still need to be more clinical with fewer chances and perhaps more aware in front of goal ( Fleck yesterday when he could've squared to Ched), however I think that will come

We're over coming the nerves a lot better and those two home games will have really helped the team.

Sunderland will be a really interesting one after the break

It's good, the games ahead will be tough but winnable. I think come mid sept we should have that momentum and be growing in confidence

Opposition sides like Derby will already be under no illusions about the threat we pose

Absolutely. Plus every team we've faced so far with the possible exception of Barnsley have realistic expectations of finishing in the higher positions of the division. So it's been a good workout already.

The club missed a trick here, our season tickets should've been marketed as 'League 1 Return Tickets.'

Its been a good test so far, its one of those where you think teams like Derby and Brentford are out of form because thats the place they're at or are we just a better side, only time will tell, but we've also beaten Barnsley in between two big wins for them. So perhaps we're a tougher challenge than we even believe.

Definitely. I've seen the term "unknown quantity" used to describe us twice this week, and that can only be an advantage. I hope we continue to be underestimated for as long as possible.

Middlesborough and Cardiff were a big step up. We never faced opposition like that in league one. There will be more games like that, many more, but I am confident we can finish mid table.

It's been as good a start to the season as we could reasonably expect. Two losses at clubs that will probably continue to do well this season. Three home wins against decent sides. Can't praise Wilder and the lads enough.

The reason some of us are saying survival is the 'aim' is quite simple; we have the best manager we've had since Warnock, at least, and we don't want to lose him by putting too much expectation on him. If Wilder wants to perform another miracle, great, but it's not fair to demand another miracle. We should treat him like Exeter does Tisdale, it should be his job for as long as he wants it, as long as he feels he has something to offer.

The Grunting snortbeat 10.000.000 Rhodes Scored 2 goals last year Billy Sharp won't be able to score in the Championship. No he's Just scored 4 in 5 games

In fairness, a good number of people on here periodically pipe up that Sharp isn't good enough. They'll be quiet today with his record so far as it is, but next time he goes two games without scoring rest assured they'll make a swift return.

Realise my OP sounds a bit like I'm getting carried away - Id agree with most that survival is the aim, but we've played 5 good teams (in my opinion none of them will be relegated) and we've taken 9 points. Got to be happy with that

This survival and consolidation bollocks is getting on my nerves. If you suggested it to CW or Billy they'd tell you not to be so fucking ridiculous. I've seen three home games plus the Boro' game on TV against a fair cross section of what we are up against and Blackman's yet to make a fucking save. Survival my arse, what's up with you lot.

More than happy to repeat it if it's getting on your nerves.
