53.03 is one for fans of the 70s box, if we had full stripes, the number would have to be on a solid colour, so no black numbers directly onto red/white stripes like we'd normally have (but the Milans and Barca don't need boxes as there's less contrast between the stripe colours).

Palace are proving that Red/White stripes will offer enough contrast in the PL. I guess this puts an end to the debate that we can't have stripes on the back

Think it's oreyt mi sen.

The peach away will divide opinion more than this one will

I agree. Not the best and not the worst. Middle of the road IMO.

The amount of grown men on here and Twatter getting their knickers in a twist about a football kit really is quite pathetic.

It's red and white stripes and has our badge on, the players will wear it 19 (more if cup games at home) times and then the season will end and we'll have another one next season.

If people don't like it then don't fucking buy it but don't come across as an absolute bedwetter over a kit!

What do the yanks know about our heritage ? Too much white, no stripes on back - burn it! ;)

TBH though. Anybody who doesn't put the Man Utd and WBA kits as the bottom two kits, shouldn't have an opinion
Man U's is a beauty

These are them what made the new shirt.
Hopefully they'll win the lottery and clear off before they start on the away shirt.

It's fucking pink!

Not 'peach'. Not 'bubblegum'. Just fucking pink. It's a shite colour. It looks shite. It's our worst kit ever and it's not going to sell well.

Whoever is responsible for approving the thing at BDBL should be sacked and fucked off out of the club with immediate effect.

It's fucking putrid.

The home kit's not bad, though. 🤔

It's still better than the knock off Norwich one.

Let me ask this, then.

At Norwich (famously) CW had the pink walls covered in white paper. It was said that the dressing room walls were painted pink in an attempt to gain a psychological advantage over visiting teams. 'Small gains' they call it, don't they? Does us wearing pink give the same 'small gains' to the opposition? Either way, our management didn't like it and took action, even if it was just a 'fuck you' to Norwich.

Now, we are going to be playing in the bloody colour! I know it's 'only a kit', but CW being the 'old fashioned' type of bloke and Manager we know he is, what do you think he'll think of it? Do you think he'll be proud to send his team out in that shit?

Tin hat on.

I don't know if it was Wilder specifically, but certainly his staff did. Psychologically who knows, but teams have worn pink before and suffered no ill effects so I'm sure it'll be reyt. There'll be a third kit I imagine if it goes down like a used needles and diarrhoea cocktail - I'm not so sure it will to be honest, plenty of people will buy it.

I'm sure the players and management are consulted at some point along the way anyway, he might have a little laugh at it in an interview but to be honest I doubt Wilder gives a shit.

I prefer the (not yet confirmed) away shirt to the home shirt (which is pretty shit), but choosing that colour when both teams in this city refer to each other as The Pigs is an odd one. That said, I'll probably still end up buying both........

I reckon that pink shirt might go the way of the purple one. Wilder won't like it and we'll never play in it.

We actually only wore the white kit two more times than the purple, 5 aways in purple, 7 in white, and the purple kit was still in use all through the season - our last two away games were against Barnsley and Bristol, and we wore purple and white respectively.

Homes worse

It not rocket science! surely we had the opportunity to use that design when Adidas and somebody at the club got their heads together. It looks super especially the back and looks 100%better than ours !

Yeah, ours isn’t terrible, but that’s way better

I agree.

Sadly I am not sure you get much consultation with the bigger firms. They'll probably give the club 2 or 3 of the templates and say choose one. So we wont even get chance to ask them to put stripes on the back or little things that would make it better. I think that's the cons of having a big company. They won't produce anything bespoke in most cases. The pros are the shirt quality and all the other leisurewear merchandise is good stuff too if a little over priced.

The smaller companies do produce better and more innovative designs that are more unique but then equally can get it wrong badly too. Adidas and Nike are generally a bit lazy as they make so many kits for teams do just shoehorn teams into designs. The club knew this when they signed with Adidas. They are a bit safe but you know you won't get too many shockers but too many out of this world ones either. The 17-18 home was superb and a couple of the white ones away been nice but generally the kits have lacked individuality/ adventure since we teamed up with Adidas. However, conversely you could argue in having pink and purple away kits they have tried things we have not had before and the all white home was brave too.

I agree with John Devlin though..Adidas are poor at stripes. They seem to struggle with the three stripes and getting everything in.

It's frustrating as just putting stripes round the back and a few tweaks and the kit would be great for next year. No issues with the white at the top but it's too much to have it all on the back too.

The pink away I like actually but the obvious connotations prob meant they should have stayed away from. Maybe if its a third kit as I expect as that colour could/will clash with Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal, Southampton etc. So surely we need a more useable away strip?

What's most frustrating is even on here we have seen some brilliant designs. I do wish the club could have more fan involvement but not sure Adidas would go down that route. We will continue to get what we get until/if we move to a more creative company (smaller) but then you might get some horrors (see SWFC away next season) so be careful what you wish for!

I’m almost certain the club will have the ability to make stripes front and back part of the required criteria ahead of designing concepts. There is usually a basic understanding of that ahead of proposed designs being worked up. The fact we’ve ended up with what we have suggests one of the following:
– the club didn’t/doesn’t make it a requirement of design work
– the design with a mostly solid back was considered preferable than other all-stripe options presented by Adidas
– Adidas have simply delivered what we asked them to do

Would be great for the club to communicate how this works and the decision-making process involved. There’s been plenty of Athletic type pieces giving the inside story of how things like a transfer deal or contract negotiation works. Maybe a behind the scenes look at how a kit is developed, based on this most recent one, could be considered by The Star stringer? At the very least I’d promise to read it.

Palace are proving that Red/White stripes will offer enough contrast in the PL. I guess this puts an end to the debate that we can't have stripes on the back
There never has been a debate, just people believing in a mythical rule that never existed. The contrast rule on stripes is a UEFA thing that has never applied to the Premier League. The plain back rule was a UEFA thing until 2018 that has never applied to the Premier League.

More to the point, why are Palace having a kit with blue and red stripes on it as a change from blue and red stripes.

I can never understand how the club decide the design of the shirts?

The club expect fans to purchase replica shirts and yet allow them no input into how they look

Someone sits at the top table and agrees to a particular design and as that choice is personal and very subjective, how the fk can it be deemed to be the right choice and one that maximises revenue into the club?

Surely, as supporters are expected to buy these shirts, then does it not make sense for supporters to have an opportunity to pick the design?

It's happened in the past. 6 kits stuck on the Blades website and allowing fans to cast a vote.Ii may not agree with that vote choice, but as it's democratic and it's a majority decision I would certainly accept it. Surely it's not difficult to allow season tickets holders access to our website and securely vote without outside plebs (pigs) interference?

It's not a massive money maker for the club, so they probably just have a "that'll do" attitude, we sell kits for £55 for 5 months, then they're reduced by £30 about 2/3rds of the way into the season.

I bet we'd be doing well if we make about £15 per shirt at full price, and then next to nothing when we reduce them. Add in being a Prem club and a lot of United fans being quite happy to buy the cheapo Chinese knockoffs that are now available, so that's another reason they probably don't deliberate for too long.

You may well be right. However, I see absolutely no reason to not involve the supporters

It's all part of the experience and involvement for the fans

There are no negatives, only positives and costs the club nothing to keep the supporters involved.

Just my opinion

Who at the club is at the head of the decisions regarding kit design; anyone know?

Maybe they just aren’t aware how important the tradition of stripes on our shirt is. We don’t play in white with 3 red oblongs on the front and 3 red squares on the back.

River Plate fans are now using our shirt as
A base to build their own

Can only assume most of their fans are not prissy fashionistas

the majority of fans don't give a shit and the ones that do all have a different view on how the kit should look

It'd a fucking football shirt for fucks sake ,its for kids and as long as its not horrendous then no grown up should waste energy worrying about it
