These are them - New Kits 20/21 - 'leak'

Maybe they just aren’t aware how important the tradition of stripes on our shirt is.

If they didn’t, they should

the majority of fans don't give a shit and the ones that do all have a different view on how the kit should look

That type of viewpoint was probably the main driver for me starting that poll. While I’d never say that this forum is fully representative of Unitedite views, “the ones that do” have an interest in the issue are pretty united on how the kit should look.

Can only assume most of their fans are not prissy fashionistas
the majority of fans don't give a shit and the ones that do all have a different view on how the kit should look

It'd a fucking football shirt for fucks sake ,its for kids and as long as its not horrendous then no grown up should waste energy worrying about it
Try not to get too worked up about it. Not going a thread entitled 20/21 kits might help.

I'm over it now. As someone who is pretty interested in new kits and designs etc, I was a bit disappointed when the back had the white panel, but that went pretty sharpish. To be honest I don't really care so long as it's not full white like 18/19, the way I see it, I really like the front of it, and that's the bit I'll be seeing most, so I'm happy enough. It's a bit worse than last season's but it's still a very smart kit and doesn't embarrass us at all.

I can never understand how the club decide the design of the shirts?

The club expect fans to purchase replica shirts and yet allow them no input into how they look

Someone sits at the top table and agrees to a particular design and as that choice is personal and very subjective, how the fk can it be deemed to be the right choice and one that maximises revenue into the club?

Surely, as supporters are expected to buy these shirts, then does it not make sense for supporters to have an opportunity to pick the design?

It's happened in the past. 6 kits stuck on the Blades website and allowing fans to cast a vote.Ii may not agree with that vote choice, but as it's democratic and it's a majority decision I would certainly accept it. Surely it's not difficult to allow season tickets holders access to our website and securely vote without outside plebs (pigs) interference?

Problem is, the design needs to be changed sufficiently enough to warrant a change in the first place. In the 60s/70s we had the same shirt for years. We had it with a collar, without a collar etc. But the shirt remained pretty much identical.

If that was the case today, they wouldn't be able to sell a new version of it in high numbers. Good thing back then is the shirts rarely changed and weren't readily available to purchase anyway.

It's always difficult to please every fan, impossible even, but I get why we are changing styles dramatically. End of the day, there's only so much you can do with red and white stripes.

Without having a dig at the pigs, I'd be more disappointed with their new shirt than ours. Not because it's horrible or anything, but because it looks exactly the same as last year's and will cost another £60 to purchase. At least ours have been dramatically different each season.

It is though. It’s got blue stripes next to the white ones for starters. And a pretend sponsor, like in Roy of the Rovers. It’s a fucking abortion, and no doubt when our resident (squatter?) pig finishes sucking his dad off he will be along to tell us how great theirs is, despite it being a fucking abortion just like all their other blue tainted shitwipe offerings have always been.

Unpopular opinion... Blues a nicer colour than red 😬

Not me. I was digging at half the people stuck in the 1940s.

I'm waiting for the pink release. Looks great

Maybe they're just trying to flush out the bellends on Facebook.

I bet there's a decent overlap between people who think pink is "gay" or for girls, and various other twats like the all lives matter brigade for example. Take down two lots of twats with one shirt haha

Seen the new home kit in the flesh today down the road, pulled up and told the bloke wearing it that it looks better than in the pictures. Think its gonna be one of them that grows on you

So, if you don't like the choice of pink for the new kit, you're stuck in the 1940's"? I wasn't born in the 40's, so I don't have the experience you refer to, but 'thanks very much' for telling me what I should be thinking! And 'thank-you' again for appointing yourself as the one responsible for "digging us all out". 😂 I'm sure the club will be very grateful for your 'moral crusade' against the 'anti-pinkists'!

For the record, I don't have any issues or hang-ups regarding a person's sexual preference, skin colour, or religious beliefs. As far as I'm concerned we are all born deserving of equal respect and consideration.

Personally, I just think pink is a poor choice of colour, I think it looks crap, and I don't think it will sell well, making it a poor business decision. It's my opinion, just like your opinion is the opposite. Neither of us 'know' what is going to happen, sales-wise.

Wow. You took a personal issue with that post didn't you. If it was directed at you particularly, I'd have quoted you.

Read back through the thread. Many people don't want pink because it's pink. One person I know said "we'll be laughed at walking out in fucking pink" 🙄

I get the argument that Pink is the colour of a Pig and considering our city nicknames for eachother, it could be a risky move.

Most of the comments against the kit in this thread is more to do with the fact that it's pink, not that it's the same colour as a pig. The only logical explanation for not wanting it "because it's pink" is because the posters still reference pink to be a girl's colour.

Pathetic isn't it ?
In fact don't know what's worse being frightened of a pink kit because you so backwardly homophobic or because you're scared what a load of fat middle aged men think who support Wednesday

But people aren't "logical". Football isn't "logical".

It's about the passion and commitment of a whole fanbase. A lot of that fanbase are following United because of history and tradition. It, therefore, follows that there is going to be a lot of people who have a traditional way of thinking. 'Pink' is to many (I'd actually say 'the majority') STILL representative of feminity. Football is still largely regarded as a masculine pursuit and it's to be expected that a pink kit, especially with a traditionally, proud, working-class' fanbase like ours, will be met with significant resistance by lot of people who are very proud of their club's appearance and perception.

You might not like it, you might think it a regressive mentality, or counter-productive to how football is trying to attract inclusivity, that's ok. But people are different and they think differently. They shouldn't be vilified for thinking "pink is a feminine colour' and that they don't want their beloved United running out in a pink kit. That's what they've been brought up to believe and perceive.

I've worn pink before in social circumstances. I don't have a problem with it. But football is different. Yes, things will change over time. They always do but I don't think this is an educational thing. It's football. It's 'tribal'.

I just think it's a terrible choice for us.

You took offence that I said fans were stuck in the past then proceeded to counter-argue that by saying our fans are "traditional" and still see pink as a feminine colour.

What you've done there is agree with my original post that you took offence too

There's a big difference to being 'traditional', and being 'stuck in the past'.

Being described as the latter is generally regarded as an insult. The former is a good thing, surely? You know that. It's obvious.

Whether you meant it or not you implied that people who don't like pink for a United kit are 'stuck in the past'. I was trying to point out that that isn't necessarily the case. It may be that there are supporters who are rightly regarded how you describe but that doesn't mean we are all like that. I don't agree with your generalisation.

I don't see your confusion?

No problems with the shirt but it makes more sense for a team who's home kit is blue, Leicester had one, but not so much for us.
We'll be wearing a 3rd strip against Liverpool, Arsenal and Man United. Unless we are keep this years white shirt as next seasons third kit.

Well that confirms it then...

Our best kit this season is the goalie kit.

It might be a modern twist, but if you're Adidas you can't do your homework on the footballing culture of this city and the proceed to kit either side out in pink.
