My expectation level for this season is now a mid table finish. I don't expect everyone to agree with that but that's where I'm at and I've come to terms with it. I'm now thinking about how soon we can start to rebuild, moving the existing dross out and bringing proper players in.....

We have a goalkeeper, central defenders and central midfield players to replace. All key positions with quality in those areas in relatively short supply and highly priced across the 92 teams. The aim of this thread is to work out a realistic timescale to get shut of what we don't need and bring in what we do.

I'm also interested to know whether anyone agrees that we should start thinking about next season (I'm talking about the fans, not the players and manager) and whether Adkins should and will be afforded that much time to see it through.

Thoughts?

Adkins will turn you around, playoff lottery most likely I reckon. January will be key for you to get a couple in. As for building for next season, it's too early to throw in the towel, there are plenty worse teams in league one this season and if you can put a couple of wins together this doom and gloom will soon be forgotten.

GET OFF MY FUCKING CHIPS!

was told its worth the wait by a preston fan who had sat through 9 failures
eventually its got to happen
law of averages
Pah!
We've had 8 failures and still the most defeats in finals with 4 - (no goals scored to boot )
Lost finals at three different venues, an' all - wankers.

Preston hardly ever got past the semi's in their campaigns - it's far worse losing in the bloody final than bombing out in the semi - less bloody expensive too :o

Besides, I don't think it will be worth the wait - the pain is so engrained I think it will be just a "meh" moment - "winning" a League one play off final? Should have pissed the fucking league like any self respecting club has done.
Scraping through the fucking play offs - it's a disgrace in itself.

scraping through ,,,, who cares
preston fans didnt complain when they kicked off in the championship

so weve lost a few
how come people only think the bad things from the past can re occur

we have won promotions too
but they dont count ,,,, why

dont get why failure is seen as the only option

when you went out on the pull , did you give up after 8 " get lost creep"
or did you try again

Because the only time I can recall us winning a division is the old 4th division.

You can add semi finals of the major cups to that as well - 6 of those bad boys too in the last 25 years

10 games bottled tells you all you need to know

Play off relegation scraps? - Nope - shat that too.

it's a compelling series of events that make up the pattern

A pattern that tells us, specifically, that bad things from the past always reoccur.

i can cope with league 1 football, i can cope with bottom end of championship football, what fucks me off, is the same old bollocks that the club or board come out with every fuckin pre-season when they want my hard earned brass to watch these twats masquerading as professional footballers,i.e. "game changing investments" "trying to get a couple of players over the line" to name a few sayings or bullshit from where i come from o_O

lets look at it differently
we as a out of the prem league team have reached 5 major cup semis in 20 years
theres 14 of the current prem thats not had 3 semi appearances
losing 1-0 to arsenal , newcastle and in extra time to liverpool and getting 5 minutes from holding spurs is not bottling it, its nigh on heroic

Oooh just feel the bulging trophy cabinet

We will come good, I still feel we will go up automatically, think we will have a good run through November and December, and then in the jtw we will consolidate our position with a couple of additions. IMO

A few more performances like the ones of late and I'll not be attending for the rest of this season.

If the club aren't going to give a shit, then neither am I.

Do you honestly believe the club don't give a shit, I find that hard to believe, I would like to think Adkins and the board want the best out of everyone concerned. UTB

we all have off days
we do seem to like failing at the bottom clubs
but promoted sides always have lost to strugglers I recall

whats indefensable
are you saying your entire blades following years have been utter failure
you have no good memories at all

Other than one season, yes that pretty much sums it up.

I'm just trawling through my memories of SUFC now.....that little shield was nice for finishing 2nd.
