The worst one yet

Huddersfield the worst for me, just cos it was penalties which is the biggest lottery you can get in football, and it always hurts for ages when you lose on pens.

Game came down to 2 key moments in the end, Brooks save and Watson goal, anything else happens in either of those 2 moments, it's a whole different story.

I'm older now so while the others were emotionally damaging, this one has been more destructive in terms of being disgusted that a french geezer in his first season has out bottled the guy who just bottled the league

nah, Hopkin 90.

1993 was the worst buy some distance but that wasn’t a playoff…imagine that train journey back..

I think you may be right. I turned to my brother and said this is the worst just before the whistle. Wolves was awful but it's receded in memory. This was our tenth play off/semi final in recent memory? Lost every one. I was quietly confident we might do it. Wolves we were awful from the start. But today we dominated the first half. Sunderland were awful. We were basically there. The VAR was a blow. But still Sunderland didn't lay a finger on us until the equaliser. And then we collapsed. I feel like I'm done with it.

This one is the worst (all though this is very much a shortest dwarf competition).

For about 30 seconds we were 2-0 up. I thought at that point that there might be a possibility of us actually doing it. I let myself believe. I saw the glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel.

Unfortunately that light turned out to be a fucking massive train with a tactical nuke strapped to the front.

The closest feeling I can think of in the 3 other PO finals is when Hudds missed their third penalty. But this is worse, because we were 2 up. Because we had hope. Then we weren't 2-0 up. Then we missed guilt edged chances in the second half. And they weren't creating anything. Then they get a goal out of nothing. But it's 1-1 - we can still win this

And then. AND THEN. We were kicked in the bollocks in the last minute. AGAIN. No time to respond.

Fuck the other 48 games we have played. Fuck the fact we were 14 points better than them. It means nothing.

YOU LOSE! Good DAY Sir.

The Palace one is the worst for me. Fucking worldie of goal that I thought wasn't even going to go in.
Cracker though wasn't it? A worthy winner of a goal. And a brilliantly loyal player going on to play for the best large team in the world

Most of the country will be pleased. I mean let's face it, even 90% of the city of Sheffield will be elated. Since the massive own the City.

Footnote. Fucking bollox. We are shit. I want mid boring table for us. Then a more boring forum

Wolves for me. Was physically sick at half time. It was probably the most fun season I had watching the Blades. To completely shit the bed at the end was horrific.

This season has played out almost exactly as I anticipated. I had us losing in the playoffs, after missing out on promotion by two points. I am surprised we made a fist of it after losing Arblaster and Souttar

The palace one was one of those things, really painful but it happens. Today we’ve just fucking given it away. This will never be topped.

They were all worse at the time but today was different. We started strong, took the lead and thought we had gone 2-0 up. Apart from pens vs Huddersfield, This is the closest we’ve been to winning at Wembley in a PO final.

But, we’ve finally seen a goal, we might win by the time I’m 50. Small steps Blades..

The ball from Simmo's penalty is still out there somewhere.

Has to be right?
Agree, worst because we were winning (a first in a Play-off final), comfortable and then an iffy VAR lifted them and walloped us. Almost every team drops deep when in front but the stats suggest it doesn’t suit us - 4th worst points lost from 75th minute in Championship.

Others also mention the Palace game. That was another we were expected to win having beaten them twice that season. I’ve been to all the Wembley ones and the pain does get a little easier. We’ll be back!

Surprised nobody has mentioned Burnley in 2009. We just didn't show up . We probably had our biggest ever following that day as well at around 39k.
