Wilder's stubborness

I was in the directors box for the game and after the game Tony Currie came in to the room and said i was supposed to give the man of the match award to Anell but he won’t be coming as the players are having to take drugs test.

A few of them certainly looked doped last night. Not on anything amphetamine-based though.

It's going to be his undoing at this club once again and it's a crying shame.

It's Lunny all over again. It's 5 at the back all over again.

BBD MUST play on the right and he must start.

Campbell must come off after about 60 minutes.

We must not play exciting front footed football.

And worst of all, Robinson must start every game despite him being the worst centre half at the club and making multiple mistakes in every game.

It's so fucking annoying.
We all know this, and the moment the teams were released it pretty much confirmed it…But at this stage all we can do is…support the team!

His stubbornness is going to cost us big time this season unless he ditches it, and fast.

These 2 results have been coming for a long time. All the signs have been there. Barring Boro and Coventry we've been absolutely bang average for months and have been scraping results. That luck was going to run out eventually and unfortunately for us it's run out at the worst possible time. A couple of months ago we would have had time to regroup but now IMHO it's too late.

This brings me to my next point about him needing to ditch his ego/stubbornness fast. If it's to be the playoffs then we need to at least go into them in some form and with a coherent team and style or we probably won't even get past the Semi. No more of this "It must be working because we've accrued xxx points". See points above.

I know quite a few won't agree with this but with the personnel we have it's crying out for the 352/3412 formation we used to such great effect in his 1st spell.

Neither JLT or Anel are best suited to a 2 and we've got Holding now so why not use him? This would also mean we'd probably see more out of Burrows and Seriki who, let's be honest, are far more suited to the wing back role.

A midfield 3 of Peck, Souza and Hamer feels like a perfect mix in there and quite similar to Fleck, Duffy and Coutts/Norwood in ways.

Up top you could pretty much pick any 2 from Moore, Campbell, Cannon and BBD. Any combination would be more effective than playing a lone striker as there's only Moore who's even remotely suited to that role.

We'd still have plenty of options off the bench as well if a change of formation was required later on in game.
I am starting to think that's our only hope. The width from the wingers is non existent anyway.

I can't believe it's come to that 😂

He needed to give Moore about 30 minutes today.

It wasn’t working so we needed an option. Yes Cooper is a big lad but so is Moore.

We need to try something different. Not the same with different faces.
It's mystifying, when plan A fails we just switch to errrrrr, plan A.
Tired of seeing decent players signed then underutilised.
We need leadership.I thought Holdings calm nature might bring that.
However it might stand a chance if we had him on the phookin pitch.

Not replacing Souttar has been perhaps the biggest error.

Perhaps we're cagey going forward because the defence lacks stability.
Captain Robinson my arse.

Whatever the "messiah "had is long gone.

Despite many positives, the negatives prove too damaging.

New owners really have a chance to drag
our club into the modern era.
Hope it starts with some entertaining football.

I genuinely don't get Robbo over Holding, Choudhury over Vini, Brewster over O'Hare or even Gilchrist over Seriki formerly. The BBD situation I sort of understand, as he offers much more defensive protection, although I don't agree with this approach personally. Not that this would necessarily have made a difference last night, as even standout performers like Burrows and Cooper were woeful.

Felt sorry for Coops last night.
Can't fill you full of confidence watching that shite unfold in front of you.
He's kept us in so many games.Think we can forgive him for a lesser performance for once👍.
In another post I labelled Wilder as an enigma.
Confuses the fuck out of me.
Maybe some players feel the same🤔

I'm surprised Cooper's not had more games like that if anything

I get that wilder is stubborn, but surely he watched the performance against Oxford… you can’t watch that and decide ‘yes what we need is that exact same thing again’

Based on what I saw, putting the same team out was intended for that team to go and redeem itself, but it didn't and has made Wilder look stupid.

The problem we'll have if we went up is that the club will stick with Wilder and Wilder will stick with donkeys like Robinson and Brewster because they got us there and have "earned the right" to give it a shot in the Premier League.

Sentimentality needs to go out the window and while we can't possibly sign as many players as Forest did, there will have to be players who get put on the outer in favour of new ones who are good enough to start. Oli Norwood was a great servant to us but there's a reason why Fulham and Brighton sent him packing when they went up.

Not many of the January signings have been good enough so the jury's out on whether Wilder or whoever is getting the final say is a decent enough judge because the likes of Cannon and Clarke have contributed nothing. If we have money to spend, who the hell are we going to spend it on?

What will most likely happen will be football that is cautious to the extreme and we'll get rolled over as soon as we concede a goal, akin to the Covid season with the defeatist attitude that we can't compete with such footballing powerhouses as Fulham, Brentford, Palace or Wolves and accept a 2-0 defeat as a moral victory and be figures of public ridicule again.

I dont know why people are so surprised we have got results playing crap football all season bar about 4 games coventry and boro at home come to mind

We are 6th in the Table for XG and are over performing in terms of points to the perormancs we put in according to the XG gods

This is the wilder Boro fans hated so much when its going well great , when it doesnt its not my fault

I hope you didn’t pass up the opportunity to suggest that given the team selection, it might be more fruitful to test Wilder? 😉

Whats heppend to Wilders instructionS. Be winning every header, win your tackles, block all shots, be first to the balls, keep tight in defense, etc.
All of a sudden, the players stopped doing that.. Why? All the hard work they have put in all season will be wasted. We have to win all the remaining games.
Starting at Plymouth on Saturday. We must get back to winning ways, or it will be in the playoffs, and we all know we have a bad record in them.

He was taking the adulation for the derby wins. Giving it large with the fans, singing, talking about the pigs in his post match conferences and it's all very fair. Fuck them.

Then, when his backs against the wall with the Oxford result, he gets so very mardy and hits out at the fans. Which obviously rubs up a lot of loyal fans the wrong way cos he's tarring us all with the same brush. Picks the same team that he said played shite at Oxford, lo and behold we lose again at home to Millwall.
I thought today we might play like we have fire in our bellies. But no.

Wilder has derailed our season with his comments and arrogant 'I'm always right' team selections. A few can come and call me a troll if they want (you know who you are) I don't care. I've seen enough of this shite.

Ur not wrong.

How many was it? Maybe 12 of the couple thousand who went to Oxford.

All his comments have done is create a greater divide between the players, fans and himself.

As a manager he needs to conduct himself as a manager, not as a fan.

Great post. I agree that the performances this last week were not much different to the shit served up all season. We’ve however been sussed by other teams and we are not even able to get our single goal or if we do, our defence can hold the lead. It’s criminal Hamer has not been played in the middle - as since Blaster got injured nobody from the midfield passes or runs forward into the box.
