Wilder's stubborness

It's going to be his undoing at this club once again and it's a crying shame.

It's Lunny all over again. It's 5 at the back all over again.

BBD MUST play on the right and he must start.

Campbell must come off after about 60 minutes.

We must not play exciting front footed football.

And worst of all, Robinson must start every game despite him being the worst centre half at the club and making multiple mistakes in every game.

It's so fucking annoying.

On the plus side it’s a great result for absolute muppets like you.

Can you explain why?

This one will be sure to get some likes from the North Koreans by the way 👍

Let's keep trying something we know doesn't work because some people said some hurty words.

Fucking pathetic from someone who aspires to be an elite coach.
Don’t know if he even aspires to be an elite coach, think he just wants to impress his mates in his local. Just a drunk gobshite who’s managed to get one of the strongest squads in the league to play some of the most dull football I’ve seen at this level in a long time and scrape results all season. Far too emotionally involved in the club - something that worked the first time around as the club was devoid of any fan/player interaction but the post Oxford press conference was fucking bizarre, at such a crucial stage too.

Chris, If you're reading this, for the love of god stop playing Hamza and Peck in midfield together then telling Hamza to drop back into defence leaving Peck and the rest of the team horribly exposed in midfield. 4-2-3-1 is fine if there isnt a massive fucking gap between the 4 and 3 because its actually 5 at the back.

There you go, I've fixed it for you.

Also, if you could ask the lads to move the ball quicker on the counter instead of passing it to either wing and then back to cooper to allow the opposition time to get back and pack out their half.

I think if we start next season with wilder we can expect lower gates and flat atmosphere (again)

Owners have some big decisions to make over next few months and I hope they are taking advice now from footballing people and getting their options lined up so we can go full tilt over the summer

Yep exactly what we needed back then and not what we needed/need now ….

Never go back it will never be the same

There’s a reason he wasn’t given the Watford job or held his position at Middlesbrough for long

I'm trying not to get drawn into a mass pile-on but when your ego starts getting in the way of clear, rational thinking then you do wonder what's best for the club in the long term. No-one can deny that the manager has done a good job this season getting a disorganised mess into something challenging for promotion but I absolutely cannot stand his ego at times. I can even semi-forgive the performances even though I've been left numb numerous times this term, but when the results don't go your way either then at least be humble enough to own your mistakes. His efforts to deflect any criticism away from himself and onto players, officials, the boardroom and even more amazingly onto the fans again is a sure sign of a narcissist. It's thin ice he's treading on.

Picking up on your first comment, why did we bring in Holding as a possible replacement for Souttar and then hardly ever use him? I agree we seem to be so SLOW at doing anything and so predictable when bringing the ball out from the back that it makes it more difficult for the strikers to do their jobs. Is this instructions from Wilder and Knill or the players or a combination of everything? I don't know but I wish we could be just a little bit more adventurous.

Exactly this. I love how he piled into the fans for daring to question the effort, tactical plan and team selection following a wet fart of a performance against a League One side in Oxford - yet he's more than happy to thump the badge and make it all about him when we're winning and giving 20 mins diatribes about Sheffield Wednesdays lack of an academy....

He's the archetypal bully who loves it when he's been goaded on by his mates, but the minute the going gets tricky he's heading for the back door blaming everyone but him.

When he came back I hoped he'd worked on his self awareness and emotional intelligence, but his actions/reactions in the past few days shows he's the same man-child he always was.

Real leaders take ownership, stare into the face of blame and make changes to put things right. After Satdy, Wilder took a swipe at the fans and picked the same unbalanced side that looked unbalanced against Oxford. As if in 2025 that was going to work.

He got it wrong last night, and i agree it was his stubborness to some degree to say to everyone i know what i am doing. It could have (obvs wasnt) been a masterstroke to say to the players you fucked up, get us back on track.

Easy to say but BBD should bury that header, and JRS too in second half.

No need to overreact, 5 games still to play, win them all and we go up. And i know that sounds daft when just lost two on spin but 4 of the 5 are very winnable games

Do agree with people saying COH needs to start. And ive been saying for a few games we need Kieffer back out on the pitch, especially against physical teams

The two we just lost were very winnable games, that's the worry.

Knowing Wilder he'll now make changes to prove a point, but in the flip side it will be probably be right formation, wrong players. He'll probably play 433 with Hamer, Peck and Choudhury in midfield and Moore, Brooks and Rak-Sakyi up top or something equally baffling. Even then his first sub will predictably be Souza for Choudhury as per usual.

I have to ask a serious question... and very interested in thoughts.

Was Wilder's decision to play the same team against Millwall, an attempt to stick 1 finger up and prove a point to the fans who hurt his feelings... rather than pick the best team for the actual match?

If so, that is absolutely unforgiveable as has potentially cost us due to basing his tem selection purely on emotion.
It's the same team that smashed Coventry in our last home game. He played it because he thinks it's our best team.

Since Covid, he does seem to have thrown out all prior, sound logic, coupled with exciting attacking football. He seems to love creating square pegs for round holes now and has abandoned the front-foot attacking football (Boro and Coventry home games aside...where we actually looked good and unsurprisingly, won).

It's not the first time either, who remember when he labeled us all "just Playstation managers"

Feels like we're going down that route again.

Don't forget when he threw the players under the bus after the Leicester game at the end of the first PL season ....

That'll be next!

He usually changes it when we have a midweek game after Saturday..he didn't ..he was definitely proving a point.

Absolutely superb 👌 and let's not forget he stabbed Heckingbottom in the back to get the job back after previously throwing his "one of our own" dummy out.

His stubbornness is going to cost us big time this season unless he ditches it, and fast.

These 2 results have been coming for a long time. All the signs have been there. Barring Boro and Coventry we've been absolutely bang average for months and have been scraping results. That luck was going to run out eventually and unfortunately for us it's run out at the worst possible time. A couple of months ago we would have had time to regroup but now IMHO it's too late.

This brings me to my next point about him needing to ditch his ego/stubbornness fast. If it's to be the playoffs then we need to at least go into them in some form and with a coherent team and style or we probably won't even get past the Semi. No more of this "It must be working because we've accrued xxx points". See points above.

I know quite a few won't agree with this but with the personnel we have it's crying out for the 352/3412 formation we used to such great effect in his 1st spell.

Neither JLT or Anel are best suited to a 2 and we've got Holding now so why not use him? This would also mean we'd probably see more out of Burrows and Seriki who, let's be honest, are far more suited to the wing back role.

A midfield 3 of Peck, Souza and Hamer feels like a perfect mix in there and quite similar to Fleck, Duffy and Coutts/Norwood in ways.

Up top you could pretty much pick any 2 from Moore, Campbell, Cannon and BBD. Any combination would be more effective than playing a lone striker as there's only Moore who's even remotely suited to that role.

We'd still have plenty of options off the bench as well if a change of formation was required later on in game.

The recruitment in January has turned out to be yet another disasterclass on top of Wilders tactical knowhow also failing to reappear.

There's so much change required at this club, it's far from one mans fault at this point. A overhaul is required.

Maybe they’ll all get pulled up for sleeping tablets!
I was in the directors box for the game and after the game Tony Currie came in to the room and said i was supposed to give the man of the match award to Anell but he won’t be coming as the players are having to take drugs test.
