The worst football sides in English history - where we may rank

Not sure that holds.

If we're still winless at the fag end of the season the teams that we're left to play won't want to be known as the only team to lose to the worst ever PL team.

However personally, I think we will win a game soon and some level of confidence will return.

Mind you I've been saying that for a couple of months now.
It would be talked about years later. "Remember that time we were so shite we lost to Sheffield United?".

Decent bet on Sky bet. Think it's 40-1 us not to win.

I've had a tenner.
I’ve had the same, also had £20 on us not to get 10 points a few weeks ago at 40-1. I figure that I’ll be happy enough losing the cash if we achieve neither 🤷‍♂️

Last night's win ensured that we will at worst tie the worst ever points tally in English football!

We also passed Derby and Loughborough's record low of one win all season and the record low of zero PL away wins held by a number of teams (most recently Hull in 2010).

Derby only got 3 away points in 2008, and we have surpassed that.

I would be very surprised, given our last few results, if we do not pass 11 points at some point: we have a great chance to equal it next week (but who's to say we will get nothing at the Etihad after last night?)

A massive local team are about to enter the fray at the top end of this list. They'll almost certainly top it too.
I pointed out elsewhere the ppg record (assuming 3 for a win) is Loughborough in 1899-1900. To beat that Wednesday need to get to 13. So basically 6 wins and 2 draws from 18 games.

Well, yes, but their failure will carry a big asterisk because of the points deduction. It’s a bit of an artificial comparison.

I think the lowest points in a 46 game EFL season with no deductions is 20 by Doncaster in the 4th tier in 1997-8. W4 D8 L34. Will Wednesday get a better record?

The fewest wins in 46 games is 2 by Rochdale in the third tier in 1973-4. They drew 17 games and got 21 points (which would be 23 now)

I know. But its still a fun stat :-)

I'm sure if you asked the Loughborough team of 1900 for their excuses they'd have just as legitimate a reason for their points total.

Think it was 4 wins 4 draws and 16pts. Pretty sure they lost 36 games.
