Ok this is seriously beginning to piss me off now, you have everyone saying that the rule is wrong not VAR, so how can the correct decision be the worst decision ever? It makes absolutely no damn logical sense what so ever 🙄

We have people using terms like "know nothing about football" when we have so many clowns claiming the correct decision is the worst decision ever and completely ignoring the mountain of WRONG decisions made by VAR 🙄

It honestly begs believe what these idiots are harping on about, the fucking integrity of our sport, I mean wasn't that ruined long before even the bloody Villa game 🙄

They hate that we're an unfashionable, scruffy northern club, having a damn good go at gatecrashing their little "elite" party, hence they have to dislike everything that goes in our favour. See also: how quickly the villa incident was forgotten because it helped out "traditionally big" Aston Grealish FC.

Fuck them. Fuck them all. We'll do it on our terms.

I agree, I have gone away from football because it is too top heavy bias and I can't stand it anymore. If it isn't the Blades I'm hardly watching because of shit like this when I do 😂

Care to explain the situation with Burnley?

Which situation? I'm not sure if Burnley have had a decision against them like the one we got at Villa, but if they have, then ok I may be wrong.

Not on a windup here by the way, I genuinely don't see the basis for comparison.

"unfashionable, scruffy northern club, having a damn good go at gatecrashing their little "elite" party, hence they have to dislike everything that goes in our favour".

Burnley fit the same description.
And are right at the very top end of the VAR table.

Leicester are a northern club, compared to the 'elite' lot in London you're talking about.....How did they win the league?
Wolves too, how did they get into Europe last season?
Burnley were in Europe a few seasons back too, as were Stoke when they were at this level.
It was not a million years ago Newcastle were in Europe, finishing in the top 4 too.

It's not even an incorrect decision by the letter of the law, never mind the worst one. Might be the worst rule ever, but that's not what they're saying.

I think a clear goal that is visibly over the line might just be a worse decision

It's worse....

But there was no decision made, it was just missed.

Why pay attention to opinions from people who have battered their brains against a bag of wind for 20 years and then believe that qualifies them to comment on others who are doing the same but better?
The reality is a commercial sports broadcasting company is televising a contest between 2 clubs one of whom has 12million twitter "followers" the other has 500,000. Their mandate is to sell interest in the transmission so they instruct the brain damaged to talk about the bigger following as they think they'll make more money. Even though the smaller twitter following performs better and is far more newsworthy during the broadcast, the commercial broadcast company focus on the larger following as they also have a betting business to fuel and exploit their audience even more.

Why even bother getting upset about it?

It went in our favour for once. We're 7th in the Premier League. Nobody should pay any attention to what pundits say, they're not important, and are mostly looking for attention.

Just chill, relax, and enjoy the remainder of the season.

It’s a complete piss take why couldn’t he ask for camera confirmation when there is shit rules like the hand ball the other day ?
to rely on a fucking beep from a watch is ridiculous !
Remind me again why it didn’t beep ?
mugged off big time and still fuming now
I would chase the decision as far as I could as it’s there for you’re eyes to see

The pundits help to influence public opinion and put pressure on the governing bodies to change the rules. They're asking for this "common sense" approach that is so subjective that it puts us back at square one (and will undoubtedly favour the bigger teams because the officials will be too scared to award against them for fear of provoking outrage amongst the larger fanbases and pundits).

As it stands the handball rule can appear harsh, and teams that fall foul of it can consider themselves unfortunate, but at least it's black and white and not open to interpretation or external pressures. If you gain an advantage from a ball touching a hand (whether intentional or not) then tough titties. If a defender strikes a ball against their own keeper's arse and it goes in the net, it's unfortunate but it's still an own goal.

The rule was brought in to stop incidents like the Henry handball and the Llorente one from last year, and I can't think of a better alternative.
If it happened against the Blades, then I'd be pee'd off, but I'd have no grounds for complaint.

I'll say this again; the man wasn't even fouled he went to ground after being touched, the ball was played against his arm which prevented a clearance. Being touched by the opponent (also see Arsenal penalty) is not an offence unless it is carried out carelessly, recklessly or with excessive force. Spurs gained a massive advantage from the handball.

I'm not sure what you're reacting to here. I was responding to the original poster, who seemed needlessly infuriated with the pundits giving their opinion. I think some people enjoy getting angry about perceived injustices no matter how good we currently have it.

I agree with you by the way, and have expressed the same opinion about the handball rule in the other thread. I think it should stay as it is. It will sometimes give harsh outcomes, but at least it will be fair for everyone. I would echo your concern about opening it up to subjectivity. It will just mean more favouritism to the bigger clubs.

Thank god Wilder is focusing on the football and not this nonsense still.

Are you a pig ?

Why is that the default question/position whenever someone on here is unable to debate them?

No.
As i've stated many times i'm a Leicester fan with a large interest in Sheffield United. Given the time i've spent living in the City.

Pro Sheffield United.
Very Pro Wilder.
Pro the players at the club who I believe don't get the credit they deserve and those who were written off early (McBurnie/Berge).

Against conspiracy theories without facts as well as delusional bias.

You just have an argument with everything mate

You really need to look at more of my posts.

Maybe you just visit the conspiracy threads that keep popping up about some elite power deliberately stopping Sheffield United getting into Europe.
In which case, yes, I disagree with everything in them....
Why?
My argument is based on evidence, not bias.

Take the VAR table which was used as evidence to suggest a conspiracy against Sheffield United.

1 - There are other clubs, like West Ham who some believe on here are media darlings, which are in the same position on that VAR table.
2 - The VAR table is misinterpreted completely anyway.

I was just responding to the bit where you say the pundits opinions aren’t important. I find that the pundits’ and journalists’ opinions usually end up creating a narrative (regardless of whether it’s true or not) that influences the public opinion and how the game is perceived. I agree that they shouldn’t be important because they’re usually lazy, half-baked opinions made on a whim
