I am sure Roy is working hard on the view from Walsall but as I think it's unlikely to make enjoyable reading I thought a look at the thoughts of one of our rivals who probably had a worse result than us in the grand scheme of things...

Bollocksy bollocks. Big swing in points with us letting those goals in and scunny going ahead

All of a sudden we're 5 points off second place

With a game in hand. But, despite Sheff U's defeat, it does look as though we're struggling to keep pace with the top two at the moment. That said, there are still 20 games to go.

Games in hand don't really mean much when you're not winning. What worries me is that our defence seems to have lost its ability to keep a clean sheet. The last few weeks we've been needing 2 or 3 to win games which is a problem when we're not big scorers.

I don't care what shit I get from the vicars on here, I'm quite annoyed after that shite today, and I'll be honest I am not paying to watch that utter dross again this season....fecking disgraceful performance, Swindon deserved it IMO

Got away with it a few times at home so I guess there was always going to be a game like this at some point. Will be interesting to see how they respond. Tough away trip to Southend will test them

This team if promoted by the play offs would come down with a record lowest number of points - we probably play the worst style of football in the top half of League 1. We just don't look like a football team, absolutely no movement in midfield - the opposition work harder than us, run & move better - many of our players come off the pitch having not broke sweat.

We didnt play too badly imo. We are too pedestrian at times breaking out from defence and too often the opposition have all eleven behind the ball by the time we're on the attack. Something they did very well today to be fair.

Seems most are rather more despondent than we are after today...

Cheers zablade

Great reading. I can see Southend giving them a good going over as well.

Imperative we bounce back at home though, that's first and foremost. Work to do this week to put today behind us but Wilder has been here before and in a much worse position.

Makes for good reading unlike what's about to come from Walsall... most sensible blades aren't too worried about today anyway, general feeling seems to be one bad game on a terrific run of form against a bogey side.... let's move on to gillingham who've picked up 4 points out of 6 games

Gawd bless yer, zablade. :)

My worry with Bolton is that they remind a lot of that hoof ball team Wednesday went up with. They will never play good football but grind out results usually. I just hope it's not a case of deja vu

Unless they make a move quick they can't get an Antonio type in on loan, that's what got Wendy promotion.

Wish we would make that sort of ambitious move in the next two weeks.

I like that Wilder said we were in a rush to make signings as I believe that means we have deals close to completion. I imagine one will be Riley from Man U. I'd have said O' Shea for the other but he played for Chezzy today so who knows?

I thought it would be scunny who dropped off the pace but after reading that I think it might be Bolton.

An objective Bolton mate of mine is just glad that they've stopped the rot this season. As recently as last night, so before today's defeat, he's expecting play offs at best. I haven't spoken to him this evening......

Bolton fielding their best available players at Palace tonight. Long journey back home tonight and a few days later they have another long journey to Southend

They may even stay down there?

Dave Bassett used to make a holiday on the south coast when they had two games in a number of days in the Sourh.

Doubt it they are skint unless they've brought their sleeping bags, wonder if the public will toss the odd coin into Zak Clough's bowl.

Quote was to Harry's game - been a long day.

Good grief, it sounds like they have some pretty tough, straight talking, no nonsense men of the cloth in Bolton!

"....I don't care what shit I get from the vicars on here....."

A Bolton fan has just rang Talksport to praise their manager Phil Parkinson.
He said last season they'd have conceded 5 or 6 goals away to a PL club like Crystal Palace
But Parkinson has made them so organised and defensive solid.
Said Bolton are a lower PL, upper Championship club and Parkinson will take them back to where they belong.

He said their only problem is attacking options and scoring goals
But he said there are strong rumours they are getting Adam La Fondre, Lewis McGugan and Sammy Ameobi.
He said if they bring in them 3, they'll not just get promoted but definitely finish top of the league
Because no other team will be able to stop them.

Then he said "going on Twitter the biggest club in league 1 are Sheffield United but we've already
beaten then twice already this season and I'm so looking forward to playing them at Bramall Lane in a few weeks because we will be beat them again".

Not sure what to think about Bolton.
They've played relatively poorly many matches this season, but have a good/ organised defence so get results even when not playing well. The Bradford fans say it's typical Phil Parkinson, his teams never look good but knew how to scrape results. If they go 1-0 up then they sit back and defend it Clough/ Adkins style.

I think the success of Bolton is all dependent on the business they do regards JTW loans.

It'll be interesting to see how Bolton react to last night's defeat.

Bolton have gone 4 games without a win now and that can get into players' heads. Moreover, you would hardly say that they were flying beforehand. They were getting decent results but invariably seemed to be grinding wins by the odd goal on the back of a strong defence. Bradford fans will tell you that Parkinson has previous for fading in the second half of the season.

That said, being a big physical side, Bolton may be better equipped than many others have been, to deal with the challenge that Southend's style presents.

The one definite positive from last night's result, though, is that Bolton have the knowledge that a televised home tie with Man City has gone down the toilet, and with it probably c.£1m which they could desperately do with. It'd be nice if that thought put a black cloud over them for a few weeks.

Initially I wanted Bolton to win so they might have a fixture pile up
But then I realised that their failure to meet up with Man City in the next round
Means they have less money to spend in the JTW.

So agree, it was good news for us that Palace won.

It's a massive game for Bolton away to Southend on Saturday and a really tough one.
It's a game they could easily lose, then confidence could be hit even harder.

Have they still got a transfer embargo ? I know they had in the summer yet they still managed to bring in at least five new players :confused::confused:

This nob looks a complete clown now the transfer embargo has been confirmed by EFL.

What a shame.

What a shame.

He forgot to name to 2 players that are leaving first that's all.
Obviously he's also been talking to Cardiff, Wednesday and Newcastle, and knows they are not going to ask for a loan fee or any contribution towards their wages.
