Not really a reasoned debate. You cant accuse fry of being a lier and then fail to point out where he lied?

He said he wasn't for sale, clearly he was.Not really a reasoned debate. You cant accuse fry of being a lier and then fail to point out where he lied?
He said he wasn't for sale, clearly he was.
But my argument is about a club taking a firm stance. In that statement he's clearly indicating that it will have to be over £5m for them to be interested. Hence he leaves for £8m. Out of interest, was it you who said we could get him for 'around £2m'? (Again, I can't be bothered to trawl back so apologies if not). Everyone has their price in football, that's a given, but it's about the clubs' approach in the transfer market. Last 2 seasons Peterborough have made £16m on 2 players from league 1. Bet we haven't made that in 5 years of sales.
If they sell, it's on their terms. We have gone back to hull after rejecting an offer, what sort of stance is that? It's about the way the club is run. I don't give two f***s about that nobhead Fry, but at least they know how to get real money for players.
No it wasn't me. I laughed the rumour off along with the Claytin Donaldson one.
Where are you getting this £8m from? The fee is listed as £5.5m (forests record).
I've listened to the audioboo of Frys interview, he sounds very "Harry Redknapp" like. You know that Assombalonga is going to be sold and Fry is just pretend he's not. https://audioboo.fm/boos/2180230-barry-fry-on-assombalonga-and-olejnik-20-05-2014
Transfer fees received by us- we got £3m for a League 1 RB and £2.5m for a League 1 CB which isn't something to be sniffed at. Strikers come at a premium so I'd say we're about on par there.
If Ched Evans hadn't got locked up, do you think he'd still be here? I don't. He finished 1 or 2 goals behind Jordan Rhodes who was sold for £8m (Huddersfield even got promoted and still sold). Evans would have gone to a championship team if we hadn't gone up and now he's "in debt to us". No he isn't, we're his olive branch.
Well said, I can already imagine the uproar from a number of blades when we've got promoted then gone and splashed 5m on a league 1 striker. Silly money for most championship players let alone league 1Forest may well get lucky, but this is bonkers. A third division player who was dropped for our fixture for not being able to last 90mins? £5m? And it's a second division club buying him?
Crazy Kuwaiti money, Psycho at the helm... What could possibly go wrong?
He said 'even if they offer £5m, we're not interested'
They've just accepted £5.5m rising to £8m. Where's the lie?
There's a hefty fee due to Watford I understand. So Posh didn't actually get £5.5m and talking with a Posh ITK the £8m is unlikely to ever happen, unless he turns into a world-beater, gets a few international caps and moves again for more than £15m. Not quite the deal it appears at first glance!
It was me who mentioned bidding 2million to test the resolve of fat bastard fry.Don't get me wrong,i didn't see 5 million coming, way overpriced, but atleast i can admit getting something wrongBut my argument is about a club taking a firm stance. When you look at it like that your right, thank you SEB for rescuing me from a catastropheIf you take off the £2.5m that Watford get from the £5.5m, you aint far off Wizster!![]()
The only time I could argue we got above market value was tonge, and that was maybe 500k-£1m more than he was worth. Other than that, it's been a pathetic showing. That is hard to argue against when we have been on constant decline since the prem
Naughton - £6m
Walker - £2m
Both way above what you would expect. Naughton isn't worth that now and Walker had played around 12 games.
I very much doubt itIf I'm ever wrong, I'll admit to it wiz![]()
Tottenham will get their money back for naughton near enough. They had our pants down with walker, doesn't matter how many games he'd played, he was clearly a real talent even then.
Kyle Walker was a gamble that has paid off surely?
We got a very substantial amount at the time,so we got our rewards for our players if you ask me.Spurs then took the gamble and if sold now they would get their rewards for taking that gamble, good deals all round for me, everone's a winner.I can never understand why people have a problem with selling both Kyle's in a joint deal. I imagine we got the full 10m by now. A sale can never be fully evaluated until you have seen what you have done with the money. That was always been our shortfall.
SPeaking of Walker, I am sure I will be corrected, however I didn't think his stock was that high in the academy. It was only a short stint at Northampton that he found out he could play and the rest is history.

I don't like to speak on behalf of people, but i think sheffielder would say your agreeing with him,so i don't get this point. My problem with it was it contributed to us missing a top 6 place the following year and relegation the year after that.
And reinvestment - don't make me laugh. When was the last time a big transfer fee was used to fund the signing of better players? Nathan Blake?
