He's done what he's been asked to do. Wilder certainly believes in him when putting him on towards the end of a game.

He's not a Coutts or a Fleck and any comparison to them is a bit daft.

No I wasn't implying that he was Coutts or Fleck.

I am not convinced that he has done what he's been asked to do when he comes on late, but then again its very hard to get up to speed when coming into a game late and your team are under pressure.

However, I'd be interested in his pass completion stats when he comes on, he's does seem to give it away a bit.

Can't comment on QPR game as i didn't see it, but Forest he was ok, but that was all.

Absolutely. He comes on to hold the line shoring up midfield so it's fair to assume CW emphasises he needs extra defensive muscle. This doesn't mean he isn't capable of more positive play, but that isn't why he comes on as sub so he'd soon find himself getting bollocked if he came on all gung ho.

Again, I have to agree.

His biggest 'problem' is that he hasn't had enough game time to get used to La Liga. 20 minutes here and there are a start but to judge him fairly he proabably needs a run of atleast 3 -4 starts. At the moment, injuries aside, he won't get that.

Oxford fans that live near me (I live in High Wycombe these days) tell me that Lundstram is best as an attacking midfielder ala Duffy. He can play anywhere across the middle though.

They say he possesses a great first touch, good technique and a few fancy tricks. They are gutted he's left them.

Some have gone as far as to say he is one the best players they have ever seen in a U's shirt!

If what they say is correct (and I don't know) then a run in the side could lead to us actually seeing the real John Lundstram and then we can fairly evaluate. I'm prepared to give him time and the benefit of the doubt. Wilder knows a player and he's worked with him before.

teams need a safe go to player to fill in gaps

hes doing whats asked of him and as such is very much part of any success we are enjoying

What Duffy does is obvious , but its based on the fact he can rely on those behind him

Its a squad game now and we often play 14 players , if people are too stupid to see how important these roles are to our game plan thats not my problem

For me he's been steady and gradually improving without being spectacular. Seems a safe, reliable squad player to come in for the odd game for Fleck our Coutts when they're out. He doesn't give us as much as they do but let's be reyt, such a player would probably cost £5million or so.
