the unsung one

I think a minority of supporters expect all our signings to be sensational and hit it off right from the start. Anything else just isn’t good enough. Lundstram has had a solid yet unspectacular start. Given the position he plays that’s more than understandable. Given the last 13 months it would be nice not to have any scapegoats and just appreciate that each and every player will at some point play there part

Lundstrum

quietly just getting on with the job
but what a solid lump to anchor the defence round
cracking piece of business from Wilder and Knill

sort of like a Stancliffe sort but one whos been pumping iron, and can pass
not much if anything gets past him doing all the donkey work for those around him

one cog in the machine that drives us on, steady as a rock

I hope you've got a tin hat ready... I agree BTW.

I would like all these people knocking him to show me what he has done wrong so far.

I seem to remember that Bob Booker received a lot of criticism when he first played for the Blades. Then he scored a couple of goals and suddenly became a legend. That centre-midfield role is not the most glamorous.
Think John Gannon and Bobby Ford...

Anyone got a good enough memory ( or big enough gonads) to let me know what they thought of Coutts 'afore last season ?

While I find it difficult to agree with btl's OP in its odd gushing praise for doing... well... not all that much, I find the converse of that fucking hilarious.

He's done absolutely fine when he's been called upon, but you still get jokers borderline writing the lad off.

At least we haven't got a history at the Lane of writing players off, only to see Wilder entrust them and turn them into integral cogs.

Oh.

He is in good company Basham, Coutts and Clarke all been written off by the football experts on here.
If i was him i would be more worried if they were shouting for him to be in the side.

I'm pretty sure we don't anchor the defence around someone sat on the bench for 80 minutes most weeks, most of the donkey work has been done by the time he gets on, he's just an inoffensive bit part player who has had little opportunity and done little with it.

If you looked up bang average in the dictionary of football there'd be a picture of John Lundstram this season, the most remarkable thing about him is just how unremarkable he is. He might do something worth praise like this when he gets more of a chance. Right now, he just contributes when needed, which isn't often.

Bang average ? coming on and keeping our above average side in front will do me fine ,as for the comparison with Hammond ,have a word with yourself.

The difference is that when a teams playing poorly people will look for the reasons why and that’s natural. I don’t know a single blade who isn’t enjoying watching us at the moment yet some can’t wait to criticise when it’s not called for?

This is where we all go "how can he be unsung if he's hardly played?" and BTL accuses us all of moaning and never happy and even if we win 10-0 every week some moaners will never be happy.

Or something like that.

10-0?

Leon dumped the gloves?

He's a good player. Not outstanding but does a steady job in the championship for the team.

For the outlay we have made he's another decent signing made by Lord Wilder. Hes not my favourite player but he does a decent job.

His game is to keep the ball moving. He did that well when he came on. It's very hard for a player to come in and play 15 minutes here and 1 game to cover suspension or whatever.

Think some could cut him some slack considering Wilder appears to trust him more than anyone else to bring on and close a game down.
