Sheffield the biggest village in the UK were most always look for a reason why something can't be done, not hard to see why we are 50years behind other places, no airport the only mainline railway in the UK that is not electrified, an east west railway that is not worth the name and probably the only large UK city without a complete ring road, but not really surprising seeing the anti car council we have voted for in the last God knows how long. Another one here who was glad to move out of town the only time I return is to watch United, I find it distressing on Saturday lunchtimes to see spice zombies on High st slumped in their own piss and a council worker going round shovelling human excrement out of shop doorways. Years and years of Labour councils have turned a great city in the 70's into something akin to the third world.

In terms of attracting investment and vision, it’s annoying but understandable how we have dropped behind all these London satellite towns in the south east, given how much they dominate the economy over the last ~30 years.

But I can’t really fathom why Sheffield has also lost out to the likes of Leicester, Burnley, Leeds, Wolverhampton, Stoke, Newcastle, Nottingham, Birmingham… why have they all got big investment? what do they have that Sheffield doesn’t???
Pigs found it initially with Chansiri who invested big money.
We are still looking for some, it's amazing really we get took over by a Prince the only one we could find who isn't bankrolled by the Saudi billions.
We need a money man who is willing to invest money who is not in it to make a killing, other clubs of a similar size have found it we still looking !!!

In fairness that’s not a problem exclusive to Sheffield.

I’ve lived in Leeds and also spent a lot of time in Manchester. Both of those cities have a bigger homeless spicehead population than Sheff I reckon.

Both clubs have huge support but no serious investment .
Blades are used to sell young talent on. Wednesday have no young talent.
Both clubs attract approx 60k a week home games , what other clubs or city without success could achieve that ?
We are solid loyal supporters not glory hunters . The day a football loving multi millionaire wakes up sees a club attract 32k a week supporters without a major trophy is the day he got lucky .

100%. You speak to any outsider who comes here, and they love it. You’re either us or them. Other than Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool. You’re not seeing a city with an us or them attitude. I live in Manchester, I see 80% Man U shirts, Liverpool its 70:30. Here it’s around 50:50. That’s what i love about this city. It’s a football city, 2 teams, 2 similar sized clubs and 2 similar stadiums.

You seldom see top 4 supporters in Sheffield. Compared to places like Stoke, Nottingham, Bristol etc.

With regard to the cities surrounding Sheffield, their celebrated status and perceived grandeur does largely emanate from having successful football teams, either currently or in the past. We’re all aware of the investment pouring into places like Manchester, Liverpool because of the global reach of their football clubs, and the romanticism that Leeds still evokes in the media and beyond. But take Nottingham for example, if you visit the city it has become an absolute shit hole. All that “Queen of the Midlands” stuff, when it was a shopping destination is all down the toilet now. But yet…because people still get misty eyed about the past achievements of NFFC, the perception of Nottingham being a major city are largely upheld.
So with Sheffield forever being tagged as the forgotten city, it sort of begs the question: What have perennial underachievers United or Wendy ever done for perennial underachieving Sheffield?

I was in a pub in Nottingham yesterday, when Liverpool got the winner a large percentage of people were buzzing, news passed threw pub quick. Stood watching ssn and got talking to a young lad, Man U fan, desperate for Forest to lose. When Bournemouth went ahead so early you'd think I was in Manchester. "Typical United" "sack Hag"

Very Veryan weird

I think what doesn't help is the continuous comments from loads of Sheffielders who support United and Wednesday

"We don't want to play in the PL because it's corrupt and we have no chance"
"So would much prefer to be in the Championship, that's proper football/ proper fans and more our level".

You even see comments like "would hate to be like Man City....it's just not us"
and "if we ever moved to a fancy stadium like the Spurs stadium I'd stop going"
Sheffielders prefer cheapness (best value) over quality in almost everything.

Often wondered if the above are the reason that put off anyone with ambition buying either Sheffield club.
It's because they don't believe the Sheffield fans have the same ambition to match there's.
Nothing wrong with any of the above. I watch football for my own enjoyment.

I don't enjoy seeing opposing players feigning and diving and refs buying it which you get in the PL. I don't enjoy the blatantly biased refereeing in the PL. And I certainly don't enjoy VAR as it interrupts play, means you can never celebrate a goal, and the VAR refs are even more gutless and biased than the on field refs

I wouldn't want to lose the stadium for a flashy, soulless stadium. Can't see how you'd redevelop and keep it on Bramall Lane. Who'd swap the cauldron atmosphere of a rocking kop for a half empty 50,000 seater, probably somewhere "accessible" like bloody Catcliffe.

It's not cos I prefer cheapness or cos I've got no ambition. It's because I want the experience to have passion and soul. Premier League needs sorting out before it turns into NFL

I honestly find shit like this hilarious. But also a bit sad.

If you go about a place and only have eyes for the bad stuff, you need an attitude adjustment. It's like going to Barcelona or Paris and choosing to moan because the drains are a bit smelly in the summer heat.

Went to a wedding in Sheffield yesterday. Got ready in the groom's room at Kenwood Hall. Beautiful view of the lake despite the weather. We drove through the city to Whirlow for the venue. Gorgeous place.

If you only ever look for the shit you're only ever going to find shit.

And that says more about you than it does the city.

As an aside the author of this mess has quite clearly taken the idea from StuntPegg (Youtube), I didn't watch her 2 videos on this and I'm not going to read this plagiarising wankers musings but at least she went to matches in Sheffield to back up her assertion.
OOh look Sheffield had 2 clubs with barely a win between them, let's say it's miserable! Fuck off you prick.

You have to look for shit on High St or you might step in it, it says more about you that you don't care if you walk in shit.

^^This.

You have to feel for the miserable fuckers who hate it and yet still stay here.

I’m forever meeting people who’ve moved to the city and love it. So do I.

I’ve lived in Sheffield, London, Bristol & Cornwall. All have lots of positives. If I try, I can also find negatives in all of them, but it is always much healthier to focus on the positives - apart from anything else, negative people tend to die younger, apparently.

I settled back into Sheffield out of choice. I am very happy here. Having said that, I would also be very happy living in other places because I don’t waste my life by dwelling on negatives.

If folk don’t like living here, move. There’s nothing really stopping you but yourself. Head off to where the grass is greener.

If folk have moved away and made a life elsewhere, good for you. It’s a big old world. But if you then spend time whining about how shit Sheffield is you shouldn’t be surprised if people think you’re a sad, boring cunt. Because you are.
