The team next year?

Only 2 senior players I'm 100% confident will be back are Robinson and Trusty. Brewster and Davies will be here but expecting more than 500 minutes each from them is ignoring the facts

RND not having his deal renewed by all accounts.

Everyone else is currently about to be out of contract or has a decent chance of being sold
Heard total opposite on RND…

Time will tell how much you get right…

Of the long list of people that everyone seems to want to bin you will probably have to keep half of them, even as squad players.

Just got to work out which of them have the bollocks to take responsibility for turning a shit year into something better rather than those who will go on a terminal slide.

All about character off that list. Add 3 or 4 high quality players and you could be looking at something decent next year.

?
? Egan Robbo
Bogle blaster harmer brooks Rnd
jebbo brewster

We need a few new faces but the core of the team doesn't look too bad.
Get a couple of loans from City or any top 6 clubs in the mould of Macca, Doyle or MGW and we should be fairly strong in the Championship.

Jebbo Brewster lolz
So who are we going to actually play up front ?

Grbc in goal...back 3 trusty Robinson Egan...wing backs Osborne bogle...midfield Hamer de sousa arblaster up front brewster and osula....in other words not much different to this seasons shambles...😭😭
Fuckin hell!!

As a first stab in the dark

Johansen
Bogle. McNair. Egan. JLT. Burrows
Hamer. Arblaster. O’Brien
Cannon. Ugbo

I have the horrible feeling that all the last few weeks have been about is putting Arblaster in the shop window.
Likewise.
No need to play him in PL.
Certainly no need to make him captain v Man Utd.
Launch him as a secret weapon on an unsuspecting Championship in August.
But no.
We have to show him off.
The only sensible reason for this is to sell him to a PL club.
Mind you , there's a crumb of comfort in that we are anything but sensible when it comes to recruitment.
Don't forget.
This is a club who made Diddy David McGoldrick come on trial before we'd sign him.
And yet , gave long contracts to two players with very little recent playing time , in Tom Davies & Gbric , the latter of abject quality.
With our scouting & recruitment committee , anything can happen.

Jebbison
Osula
Trusty
Brooks
Slimane
Larouci
Osborn
Traore
RND
Brewster
Davies x2
Norwood
Baldock
McBurnie
Ahmedhodzic
Souza
Basham
Egan
Wes
Grbic
Lowe

All are either not good enough, will be leaving or cannot be relied upon based on fitness or are returning from longer term injuries to be pencilled in for a place in first 11. Probably not even exhaustive.

Hamer
Arblaster
Robinson?
Bogle?
….

Probably the only names I’m happy to see starting next season.

Big summer ahead.
Yes i agree with most of that apart from Osborn who i think is handy to have around but yes i go along with that .

Looking forward to seeing Davies next year. I’ve been impressed with the brief snippets we have seen from him this season and he should boss the Champ. Get rid of Souza, Slimane, Norwood, Wes, Lowe, Osborn, Anel, McBurnie, trusty and bring in some experienced champ performers with some bollocks.
Would love to see szmodics, o’hare, Worrall, for starters
I’d like to see next weeks euromillions numbers, both equally likely to happen!

Worrell though is a possibility if he’s OOC.

In probably 2 weeks time we will see the retained list. Then these threads can really take a hold.

We don’t know some large decisions on Egan / Mcburnie.

Wilder indicated there’s a few in contract he doesn’t want. Whether he announces that they are available or not.

We are a while away yet. As we know at Blades we work very very slowly with recruitment so be a long old thread.

Plus Brooks,Osula and both (tin hat ready) Trusty (who will fine at the lower level) and Jebbo (if we can strike a reasonable deal)

Would sooner have Captain Birdseye in goal at least he can catch something.

Always good fun these threads. Obviously reserve the right to change my mind about 30 times between now and August!

Ins - Johansson (1m), Worrall (6m), Aisling (free), McNair (free), O’Brien (loan), Delap (loan)

Outs - Foderingham, Grbic (1m), Davies, Amissah, Baldock, Basham, Holgate, AhmedhodzIc (12m), Lowe, Larouci, Norwood, Coulibaly, Souza (8m), Brereton-Diaz, McAtee, Archer (14m), Traore (2m)

Johansson
Worrall Egan Robinson
Aisling Hamer Arblaster O’Brien Norrington-Davies
McBurnie Delap

Subs - Faxon, Bogle, McNair, Trusty, Osborn, Davies, Peck, Brooks, Slimane, Osula, Jebbison, Brewster, Marsh

N.B.
1. That’s 6 signings, 5 of which make the first XI, all of which make the squad, costing 7m in fees.
2. That’s 17 players leaving the wage bill, bringing in 37m in fees.
3. It assumes RND given the all-clear. At start of season, his absence can be covered by Bogle at LWB, Aisling RWB or Osborn. If not then perhaps 3m towards Burrows with a year left on his deal. Aisling can then also move to RCB, Bogle to RWB if needed.
4. No senior reserve keeper to save money. Unless rules changed, can loan in emergency from another team. Wharton still hanging around somewhere as well I guess.
5. McNair to cover CB but also DM when needed.
6. 24 man squad, Some youth in there. Room for a further loan or late deal before window closes.
7. Promising youths out on loan deals.

We would need a lot more than that.

I would be happy with all of those signings but we would need 5 or 6 more.

The Prince's accounts department have apparently enquired as to your availability.. 😉

Right, no idea why... this post would probably make more sense at night after 5 pints but:

Grbic- with a solid defence in front of him and a positive team preseason of changing their mindset might come good....

Trusty- proven at championship level

A fit and fighting Egan back

Cash in on Anel- his lack of fight proves a lot, I am more disappointed with him than any player I can remember

Bogle- going forward he has been really good for some if this season. Might do better defensively next season when not up against PL players wouldn't be surprised if someone came in for him this summer though

RND has bags of potential, could still be a really important player for us

Arblaster- I think we will get one more season with him. I think he would have signed a contract on that basis. Give us one season, show how good you are and we will support you with transfer following summer. Also better for him to get a season playing rather than bench warming at Liverpool etc.

Hamer- will have signed on the basis of either he gets sold this summer (although would argue he hasn't been good enough for an established pl side and not sure where he goes to in terms of the promoted sides either)

Brooks has shown potential, just playing in such a bad side is not going to have helped him mentally. A season where we are more on the front foot and not wasting possession will do him good and let him show the glimpses we have seen so far

Davies- fitness is an issue but could play a big role next season if fit

Overall I see some really good parts to our squad for championship, the only area I am struggling for any sort of positives are up top. At this point I think mcburnie is the best option we have if he signs a contact although I think he will go north of the border and good luck to him.

Brewster isn't the solution

Jebbo had potential but is one of these that maybe it would have been better to cash in on (how many fans would have been angry if we had sold him 18 months ago though...)

Osula- I just can't see it happening. Again, maybe the drop in level. More chances and he will start taking them but other than at Gillingham he's not really shown much

I suspect Wider will get pelters when he announces his retained list. Just like Hecky got last season. The fans on here can’t agree with each other, so Wilder, with no money, has got no chance.

I hope Basham gets a testimonial.

I don’t think he will. Hecky decided to go with Wilder’s old team from 3 years previously that failed.
