When we lost Coutts earlier in his career we knew what we would be missing.
We would have to accept that we would be lacking in composure, creativity and the ability to maintain possesion significantly during that game or two.

This time around whether it's due to our momentum, lack of depth or the potential length of his absense, it was clear to see that we have lost a lot more.
Nerves started to show. Firstly (or at least visibly) amongst the supporters.
Who would replace him? Can we play the same? Do we need to play a different formation?
For a team mocked for being a group of hardworkers with momentum on their side, the threat of losing that momentum and confidence was scary.

I don't need to remind you about our current form, I don't need to tell you what position we moved up to the day Paul got stretchered off. What some people do need reminding of though is that we have 3 of the most exciting central midfielders that I have ever seen in my lifetime.
This season we have had to make do with losing a lot of key players already and I still firmly believe that we find it harder to replace Duffy and Fleck than we do Couttseh. With Ched, Freeman and Lavery almost ready to return. Numbers wise we are stronger than we have been for a long time- but my main reason to be optimistic is young Brooks still.
Of late the pressure has been on Brookseh. I won't go as far as to say that it crumpled him but I will say he's looked desperate. To be fair to him, we have all been, but he has looked like he has been forcing things, going down a lot more, not enjoying himself as much. If we can some how build that confidence and composure up in our midfield then our style of play will shine through again and I'm sure that Brooks can have free rein to float, dribble and create things like we all know he is capable of.
I don't believe he will leave in January. Wilder wants to keep him and while he's already getting international recognition in a promotion pushing side then why would yound David want to either? Especially after seeing how little big clubs care about your progression like at City. There's a reason premiership clubs are sniffing around him and nobody else at the Lane. He's special and while we might have to alter the way we play slightly now there is no way that Duffy, Fleck and Brooks can't keep us in the top 6 and get us into that lottery that is the playoffs.
Wilder deserves our belief. Don't get me wrong he also deserves 10 million quid in January, but that's out of our hands. We have a few huge weeks coming up (and my God how long does it feel between games after a loss?) but a win on sky, wins around Christmas in front of a sell our Bramall Lane, and a Sheffield double, will seriously put us back in dreamland.

Merry Christmas to you all, a big thanks to Foxy Linz
And UP THE MIGHTY BLADES!

Does Lavery actually bring anything to this team??
I can't see that he does to be honest, he's no better than any player on our bench and definitely isn't a choice over Brooks, Sharp or Clarke. He's like Hanson in my eyes....obsolete.

Lavery is further down the pecking order than Hanson tbh...would expect him to move on come Jan.

Hope both are gone personally, I'd even let Donaldson go if we could bring in 1 really good striker, young fast n proven quality.
Hope the Ulloa rumour has substance!!

I reckon we’ll try and get both out...no idea who’s coming in if not Cole...

Lavery or Cole?

Based on what? His one start?

Jees, there's are some morons on here the past 48 hours.

Thank fuck none of you run this club..

Cole, younger, faster and more skillfull, CW & AK will add the polish.
Fair enough. I understand why people are losing faith in Lavery, I just really like him.

Is lavery back fully fit or still recovering from his injury? I assumed he was still injured..... But apparently we need to get rid cos he's shit and shown nothing.....

He was warming up with the team at Preston last week, and I think he was named on the bench (can't be sure of that though, seems ages ago now!

Ulloas no spring chicken though

But, vast experience in Leicester's rise up the divisions. And he has an eye for goal.

Warming the bench at Leicester - just what we need really. He'll not see much match action now in that team.

pommpey

Yeah because aging players dropping down a division for one last pay day has served us so well over the years!!

Again, thank fuck none of you run the club or are involved with player recruitment...

Based on the fact he's faster and has more skill?
He's faster but wouldn't say he has much skill at all, I only saw him last season and he did nothing except mess Moore about and then capitalise on the EEL/Moore mistake (I think it was).
And who was that on here who had an insider at Fleetwood who said in training Cole got 1 in 3 on target? Yes I know it's only talk but why would somebody make that up when we were interested in him?

Since this is now a thread about Lavery, apparently...

The lad is 25 and he's never really done it anywhere he's been. Scored one in three on loan at League Two Portsmouth, wow. Bad luck with injuries and all that, but he's been with us for a season and a half and done the square root of eff-all. Has anyone seen anything to suggest he'd be good enough at this level? I haven't. Almost certain he's on his way out.

I'd let Donaldson go as well, and Evans on loan, if it meant we could get someone in who could make a real contribution in the second half of the season. We need someone who could get 6-8 goals or more, including off the bench. None of the above mentioned players are going to do that.

I really thought we would be giving Lavery one last shot.
I remember one game he came on, cut in from the wing, stepped of the ball, knocked it around the defender and bent it onto the post from outside the box..m not 10min later he did the same thing again.
Ok, you get sweet FA for that but that summed up his luck with us for me. He's direct, makes some fantastic runs, has quick feet and reminds me of Jamie Ward a bit.

Don't forget Hanson, although he does double as a good wind block for the lads on the bench....

Ugh don't bump my thread, my saviour seems to be missing all the games up until January just as the big bids are coming in.

It's ok mate, the Genius who followed your comment by saying he'd happily get rid of Donaldson is going to take the attention away from you...

2 starts - 4 goals...
