The pressure might be off good ol Woolie, now his dad's been sacked.

Where's the £3.5million figure come from?

Maybe by 3.5 million down he means it'll be 5 million?

Hopefully.

£4.5m to £5m is the right sort of wage budget for us in this league.

Christ knows how the club allowed an £8m wage bill to be run up for last season, if true. It's just staggering.

Nope it's apparently £3.5 million, but as I say to give him some leveridge can see us trying to offload the high earners with the exception of sharp.

3.5 isn't enough to take advantage of the size of club and gates we get in this division compared to the rest.
I can't see it being trimmed all the way from 8 to 3.5, that's nearly 3x less budget.

Can see us transfer listing
Brayford
Done
Scougal
McNulty
Coutts

Wilder needs to trim the wage bill and in the process raise funds for his type of players
Apparentky our budget is 3.5 million down from 8.5 last season
This still allows 3.5k / week for a squad of 20 players, although obviously it has to be teamed and ladled to accomodate the higher earners like sharp
Sorry could you clarify that?

Do you mean the budget or the wage bill?

Is it down from £8.5m to £3.5m or has it been reduced by £3.5m?

I was looking at the squad list on the back of a programme from a month ago & counted up who I would either release or not renew their loan & I got 12 M Howard, K Freeman, B Harris R Flynn, P Coutts, M Woolford, C Sammon, J Mceveley, J Campbell-ryce, T Kennedy, C Mcfadzean & D Hammond

Now I know its controversial to keep Wallace & Culivelier. But genuinely think that if we can keep them fit these 2 players can be class of league 1

If that was correct that the budget has dropped £5m, then I'll stick mi neck out and suggest the Prince has definitely took his bat and ball home

The reported wages Wallace and Cuivelier are on some of the highest in the division. Would be shipping them out pronto....

Your not referring to James Wallace are you, surely?

Cuvelier has shown nothing, I'm as disappointed as anyone. I'd rather persist with Whiteman than him, he already has more assists in a United shirt.
And Wallace, my my. No chance. Cya.

Agree, the lad has skill but has somehow lost his way

From the first paragraph you forget to mention that Jose Baxter will also be off the wage bill, and he would have been on an hefty salary.

The second paragraph is wide of the mark though. James Wallace has had 2 years to prove his fitness, it hasn't been proved, and Cuvelier, he has been on big wages, made minimal appearance and has been absolute shite. They would be 2 of the first I'd get shot of, and good riddance to them both as well, as they have been fucking parasites

I no Idea about wages. But if so then then the risk /reward would be skewed

HeCanDoMagic in the cameos ive been able to see of both I thought Wallace was great in possession & culivier was good at final 1/3rd creativity

Yeah I avoided Baxter. I know idea what they going to do because he was an idiot & still dont know if he been suspended yet

I really don't get how anyone could say they would keep paying James Wallace to play football at SUFC. How many games has he managed for us? For Shrewsbury? Its ridiculous.

I havent seen Cuvelier create one chance in his cameos this season.

Both players are incapapable of playing 40+ games a season. Which is what we need.

I would say to anyone who advocates offering new deals to J Wallace or Cuvelier - would you spend your own money on them? I wouldn't.

I just dont get the desperate rush to publish the retained list. We have a new manager who has been here only a matter of a few days. It would have been easy to have just gone ahead with Adkins retained list, however CW appears to have ripped up Adkins list and is being allowed to keep or release who he wants. This will take a few days to do, as new meetings with players have to be undertaken. I would sooner Wilder takes a few days and gets things right. Its a positive that the board appear to be allowing CW the freedom to change the retained list, without interfering in this.
The decision by the board to get rid of Adkins before he did his retained list and to then appoint CW straight away was inspired. This allowed Wilder to do his retained list, instead of having to work with players Adkins wanted to keep. It shows that for once the board have learnt from their previous mistakes, when they sacked Clough after allowing him to do the retained list. The extra bonus is that as a fan Wilder will already be aware of most of the players. I for one cant wait for the new season now Adkins has gone and we have a manager who knows what he's doing..

Where's the £3.5million figure come from?

It's pretty much the average L1 wage bill...perhaps someone has simply put 2+2 together...or perhaps that's the figure we'll be starting from after the cull?

Who knows though...bear in mind Burton got promoted on an alleged budget of around £1.5 million!

..I do seem to remember McCabe quoting this figure/other L1 teams budgets before Princey, when he was going on about playing 'kids' last time...Can't find owt though, so perhaps not?

Yep, Flo and Wallace should be on their way - there's little reason to keep either. It's a bit sad for Cuvelier who I was certain would be a hit for us but the injuries seem to have ruined him good and proper.

Wallace. Just no. Don't even consider it for a second.

The problem is, we're not starting from scratch. I'd guess the wages for just Brayford and Coutts are close to £1.5m per season.

If we could miraculously get rid of all our senior players at no cost, then a wage budget of £3.5m would probably be sufficient.

We were almost down to a sensible budget when the Prince turned up but then the club decided to gamble again. Just like we did under Robson, forgetting that if the gamble fails, you're stuck with unsuccessful players on high wages for another two years.

Please, no more gambles. Let's have a proper three year plan, realistically costed and with an acceptance that we might not get promoted with some idea of what we will do if we don't. Remember, a Brayford isn't just for Christmas.

3 players who featured against Scunny and still have another year have been paid up.
