What slightly encourages me that he'll make the right sensible choices is based on this very Adkins-esque snippet below. We'll never know for sure what Adkins had intended with this list, but my sense was that we'd have seen two or three max retained, with a quite significant ditching of the injury-prone.
Like Adkins, Wilder wants:
– "a vibrant, energetic and powerful team that wants to win games of football"
– to be "going after teams"
– to be "positive in everything we do...but it has to be [united] together"
We can't really do any of the above with players whose bodies won't allow them to play more than 10 games a season.
Fuck what Adkins intended. . . . . He gone.
He got sacked because he couldn't fashion a winning team from "43 professional footballers"
If there was a transfer embargo placed on the club tomorrow. I'd wager that Wilder would do better with the same players, than the Scouse headmaster did.
