The ref was an utter disgrace

I’ve not made any comments regarding McCabe or Wilder, but we certainly need better players.

So the reason we aren’t going up is because of poor refereeing?
The reason why we lost today. I think this is the first time for a long time that I have been criticising the ref. Can you find me quoting this?

Jees Silent. You’ve single handily distroyed mi dream.

What on earth was you thinking abaht?

I wasn't impressed with Duffy's celebration to be honest and he deserved a booking. Celebrate in front of your own fans not your opponents!

Bet you weren’t saying that when Duffy smashed it in at Swillsboro

Just got home. Not seen the posts yet but from looking at the title of threads today, the usual suspects are blaming it on Wilder/McCabe/ players etc obviously didnt go to the game.

The ref booked Duffy just after he scored. He then kept giving fouls to Birmingham for little or no reason. Waved play on when Duffy got upended just outside the box. I knew he would make sure that Birmingham would win today's game. Have never known a ref who hated quick free kicks. Is there a ruling against quick free kicks?

Am still fuming!!!

Whilst I thought he was terrible and gave far more against us than we deserved, it is not accurate to say he stopped quick free kicks.

What he stopped us doing was passing the ball 5 yards sideways, followed by passing it backwards, and around the back 3, before O'Connell searched in vain for someone to pass to. When he did finally pass, we lost the ball immediately, as Birmingham had plenty of time to mark our players, who were easy to dispossess anyway.

6 or 7 second half free kicks and at no point did we try to move the ball forward. Pathetic.

If you believe that mate then I'm out.

Brum weren't great but we barely threatened. And a few quick free kicks pulled back and some soft decisions had sweet FA baring on the result.
it does though.. football matches at pro level are very close affairs.. refs don’t often give blatant decisions that would be stupid but giving 50/50’s to one team, missing a corner, missing a foul is the drip drip of water in a bucket that can make a difference
that’s how they do it.. i’m convinced they cheat it’s in every sport .. what makes football any different? so whilst they don’t blatantly allow one team to win they ‘can’ bias the flow.. you’ve watched Man united, Real Madrid? thats why they are against VAR

For me the ref was fussy, especially against us.

We've had afew this season, and some in our favour - that's just how it works.

We can blame the ref all we want, but he didn't cause the capitulation in the 2nd half.

Considering what was at stake we were awful - Birmingham wanted to stay in the league more than we wanted to go up.

poor ref (for us) - shocking performance, which tends to highlight things like the ref.

I was too busy celebrating to see whose fans he celebrated in front of. I am always annoyed when opposition players wind up Blades fans in front of the Kop. I never forgave George Moncur for doing this when he was at Colchester. I've never seen a player booked for it at the Lane however.

The ref was awful (my report to come) but we were worse. Suggesting bribes and the like is a bit odd unless the poster has evidence?

The difference being that even at 1-0 up and doing ok he was giving ridiculous decisions against us. I think we would have highlighted his performance regardless of the result. It’s not sour grapes. The best team won but his own performance was undoubtedly the worst we have witnessed this season

I'm all for booking players for celebrating wildly in front of opposing fans. I think it's inflammatory.
What I am against though is inconsistency in referees. I've lost count of the times I've seen opposition players celebrating "at" our Kop and don't believe I've ever seen one of them get booked

Completely agree Silent.

Bad refs are a plenty.

I don’t think it would need to stress the point too strongly to state this one was biased / bent.

Looks like you didnt go to the match. Plenty in here are in agreement with me. You are in the foolish minority

I was at the game.

You're accusing the ref of being bribed without any proof whatsoever. Stick to the stats and history in future.

If you've not seen us get decisions like that season in some games it must be you who doesn't watch. I doubt you were claiming we'd bribed the ref in those games.

The ref was poor in parts of the game undoubtedly but people like you get carried away on every decision then. Some of the free kicks against were correct decisions.

Man up and accept we weren't good enough on the day. Thankfully we've got a manager who can.

I said I wouldnt be surprised when answering a question by a poster.

I said I wouldnt be surprised when answering a question by a poster. Didnt say in my OP that he was bribed. I said that he "tried to make sure we lost".It was similar when we played at Preston last December

There have been many cases of bribes in the history of football

I thought Duffy was OTT sliding on his knees in front of their fans because he's not had any stick of note from them, but nonetheless he gets booked and no fucker ever gets booked for goading the Kop worse than that.
And that was Duffy’s last contribution to the game. Don’t know if the booking affected him but he didn’t do anything after that.

Did he slide? Can’t remember that to be honest

Slid on his knees in front of their stand looking at them. I could have understood it if they'd been giving him stick from the crowd but I don't get that response to a few idiots on social media whatever.

The Brum fans we spoke to in the pub after said they were surprised he'd reacted like that.

Personally I prefer players to celebrate with their own fans but can understand it if they've taken stick all game.

Just wish a few more refs would dish out the yellow when players do it in front of the Kop.

Sadly the standard of refereeing in general imho isn't great at this level or below.

I don't argue that he gave them more than us but not only have I seen worse performances this season, I think he actually got some right that many fans around me went mad it. The free kick on the edge of the box first half for example.

One or two of the quick free kicks being pulled back were annoying but weren't exactly one on ones through on goal. The ref wasn't to blame for Stevens pissing about before the first goal, or the ease in which a simple knock forward allowed Maghoma to walk through.

He had it for 2 years on social media and still clearly rankles with him.

The referee didn't cost us the game but he was trying his hardest to affect the game. There was one or two bizarre incidents one of them being, it was 1-1 he give a free kick inside the D which was dubious in the first place, the referee paced out the ten yards for the wall then he want to there centre-forward who was stood in front of Blackman and in an offside position and told him if he stayed there he would give him off side, so I would move if I was you the centre forward moved to on side position. I was down at the front and could lip read what the referee was saying to the centre forward the fans round me were outraged with this, if they had scored from the freekick after the ref had told the centre forward to move the fans round me were young and full of beer I could easily have seen then go onto the pitch. Surely this is a referee influencing the game which he is not allowed to do he should be impartial. Did anybody else in the crowd see this bizarre incident.

I was on the third row close to the goal and agree with this, the ref was quite clearly telling him he'd be offside due to blocking the goalkeeper's view if he stayed where he was.
