Here's one for you itsinyerblood...

If quick quid are paying us an exceptional amount of money for the sponsorship of the stand and therefore increasing our turnover, it could allow us to pay the wages for Brayford

Quick quid can sponsor as many stands as they like if we sign people like Brayford. You could even rebel and call it the john st yourself.

Car Insurance, Tenant Leases, Bank Charges; All companies that levy unscrupulous charges in some form (recently I paid a £75 admin fee for a tenancy agreement). QQ, Wonga etc. just built a business on one. I understand not wanting them as sponsors, but as long as it's done with some responsibility (i.e NOT having someone handout flyers on match day or running a prize gift with each successful loan application etc.)

Point taken SwissBlade and Deadly_D'Jaffo. Just wanted to air my distaste chaps, not seek to fall out with anyone.

I somehow doubt whether their sponsorship for the stand would cover Brayford's wages, but I get the general idea you're both making. I appreciate we all make choices that compromise us in one way or another, it's just that it shouldn't mean we have to silently wander off into the sunset without letting our views be known.

I've paid for Sky before, but can I stand Murdoch? Think that's precisely the sort of supposed dilemma you're addressing.

itsinyerblood I actually agree with you, I've just been toying with you a little to make a point.

The club should really be looking elsewhere to get sponsors that we can have some pride with or that fans want to buy the products or services of or are local.

But they clearly don't pay or don't want to pay for the sponsorship of a club like ours.

Perhaps you could reverse it... Would 'decent' sponsors want to sponsor a 3rd tier club when controversy such as Tevez affair, Ched, Marlon King etc hang over us. Didn't WBA's sponsor pull the plug over Anelka? Shocking I know

It'll be interesting if the Prince will bring any new commercial partners our way

Hi Swiss, no need to explain mate, I do get the commercial principles contained in this point.

Like you, decent sponsorship would only really happen if we are in the Prem again. Of course then you have increased wages to consider, bonuses, transfer fees, and any number of outgoings associated with a Prem club. These days those unfortunate enough to get relegated at least get the windfall of the parachute payments. To be honest, unless the circumstance was truly exceptional I doubt whether a sponsor would adopt the moral high ground. Put it like this, I doubt whether a player squandering money on prostitutes would be enough to put a sponsor off investing in a club. Ched's another matter though, as for King, huge mistake that one. Yes, I can see why the rumpus surrounding Anelka might give a sponsor cold feet, but jumping ship that early was stupid of them.

We're in a crap division, and with that comes all manner of problems. Attracting decent players (even on loan), decent sponsorship, and just about anything that has substantial monetary benefits. Let's hope that come this summer we see the pluses associated with having the Prince on board. I know there have been negative outgoings he'll have coughed up for (Weir's departure for example), and he'll be the one who dipped his hand into his pocket for Scougall (a steal), but this summer is about as important as any moment in this club's recent history.

I'd rather we had sponsorship by the likes of Durex, at least that way we could have a promotional photo with players wearing the product, mind you, not sure if they make 'em in Scoog's size UTB
