The interviewer had wound him up but I agree it was uncalled for to start criticising McNulty. He only picked up on that subject because Buchan often asks about McNulty starting. Poor from Clough, he should know better and not try to score points over the journalist.

But my view is that McNulty often offers little to the team play when he starts, I'd put Done and Adams ahead of him. He still young and may improve further.

But not the time and place for him to have that discussion with a radio journalist.

A lot of his decisions are mystifying. We seemed to be suffering exactly the same problems at the end of the season as at the start. A load of players were brought in and shipped out but it had zero effect on the quality on the pitch. The ones who came in were pretty indistinguishable from the ones who were bombed out for apparently not being up to it.

At the same time, what's the alternative to Clough? We spend the summer agonising whether it will be the young up and comer from Staveley Miners Welfare or the experienced old head whose had a succession of uninspiring stints at various lower league clubs.

What do you mean he didn't get us promoted fair enough? It's not fair enough at all. He's made numerous ridiculous decisions. Too much being read into that, just a public showing of support for human, as for mcnulty he was shite tonight, when Davies came on he showed what a centre forward is supposed to do

Stability is indeed good KON, provided the means are in place to sustain that stability. IMO United have not been any where near that position all season. Clough has few excuses, since he signed most of the squad, including those whom he apparently fell out with and didn't play. A certain lack of judgement there I think.

My doubts when Clough was appointed concerned his lack of hands on experience in the Third Division and his poor showing in getting teams promoted. I saw him as no more than a safe pair of hands, who was able to work within a low budget. Had he studied form. he should have realised that promoted teams generally had big nasty men at the core of their defence. It may not have been pretty to watch ,but sometimes needs must.

Throughout the season Nigel's brother, our chief scout ,must have had a rail card on the Glasgow Derby loop. oh yes and a trip or two to Blackpool thrown in. Whilst admiring the skills of players similar in stature to Messi, did he at any time consider that such vertically challenged players would be easy meat for the big lads at set pieces? Looking at the reviews I think not. Good little players, but not fit for purpose (getting us out of this league)

Whilst we persisted with Clough x2, Milton KD and our Toy Town friends have prospered, with managers who knew the standards of the leagues their teams were in and that knowledge has paid off.

Leopards changing spots and dogs learning new tricks. I don't think so. Sorry Nigel, you are too intransigent and if you stay around for next season. I can only see a repeat of this one.

Nigel is only human, just like the rest of us. No doubt it was emotionally draining the last few weeks. It is easy to say things that you may regret later under those circumstances.

I do feel that Nigel has a point, McNulty always looks good as a sub, but doesn't do enough during a whole game. However I do feel that it is better said behind closed doors. At the same time, Nigel has an extremely loyal following of players, which says to me that he is very fair to them. His support of Barker was extraordinary in football and really shows the measure of the man.

As for the much critisized scouting system, I think in Che, they did unearth a gem. Every time he comes on, I get excited as anything could happen. He may be raw, but he is certainly very talented.
