Lads and lasses , let's stay up first , that's our goal nothing else , oh and to beat Brentford when mister wier comes to town .

I wondered when someone would get carried away...didn't take long....lets just stay up yes?

Every place we finish above 21st will be that bit more of an achievement!

If we can finish the season like Wednesday did the other year it's game on. Didn't they win 14 in 17?
No they took 36 points from their last 17 games and were already averaging 2 points per game before they went on that run.

There is no way we can put a run together to get into the playoffs.

I refer you back to that fucking idiot Weir: 10 games 5 points. That's where we started.

I was hoping for Europe, mesen.

There was a tweet flying round the other day - don't know how true it is but ...

If Sunderland beat Brighton in the QF ...

If Manchester City beat Wigan ...

If Arsenal beat Everton ...

And if Arsenal and Manchester City finish in the top four ...

Arsenal and City = Champions League
Sunderland = Europa via League Cup
Other FA Cup Semi Finalist = Europa League via FA Cup, i.e. United, Pigs or Charlton.

It makes sense but I'm assuming there's a rule in place to stop United ever representing England in Europe.

EDIT: Found it on Premier League website, it's not true:

"Should the FA Cup winners, runners-up (if applicable) and the Football League Cup winners already have qualified for Europe, their place goes to the next best placed clubs in the Premier League."

We'd better make the Final then.

We'll have at least 4 games in hand, because of the re-arranged Rotherham game. 5 if we get to the semis. And I've been checking the gap from the play-offs all season, even during the darkest hours of Weir's tenure. It ain't over 'til it's over.

Didnt we have about 5 games in hand on the MASSIVE a couple of years ago and we were above them at the time. That ended well didnt it?

But as mentioned before by someone else No Weir = No Clough as he wasnt available at the start of the season

Wonder if any team club side has ever won 3 times at Wembley in a season? ;)

I agree, for once we were in the right place at the right time.

Of course, the point I was making was how hard it was for anyone to put things right and get us in the play offs after that start, the disjointed squad and fuckwit approach to L1 football.

How lucky were we that Cloughie walked through the door ? It won't mean playoffs this season but hopefully next.

Its all a pipe dream , but ,,, if we really have found some form and the new blood gels stranger things have happened, you need luck though other results going your way, just now its miles off , but if we can get to 6 points adrift with 8 games left , might get exciting

If we win our game in hand we’ll be 14 points behind Peterborough in 6th place. However, we still have to play the Posh. So if we can beat them, the gap is potentially just 11 points. We still have 17 games to play. That’s 51 points to play for. We’d need to go on an amazing run, but if we did, we could potentially be within striking distance of 6th place by the end of the season.

Blades to get promoted and win the FA Cup, while the pigs get relegated. You heard it here first.

Good joke that. :)

The OP clearly missed his niche. You must have passed the door for Fantasy Football on your way here fella.

Heard what first? Some crazy Mystic Meg-type prediction? I bet you went out and bought a couple of grand's worth of lottery tickets based on that type of prediction, nothing's gonna get past your hunger to believe something that miraculous is a way for the fates to reward us for having a shit season is it? I'd love to live in your world mate, what exactly do you take that reinforces that type of belief? Go on, pretty please, share it with us, I'd love to know what can cause a grown-up to indulge in something so plainly bonkers.

Just calm down mate, we're doing ok at the moment, but we're not exactly on a roll, we're just showing the signs of turning the corner and collecting those necessary survival points.....that's all, nothing more than that UTB

If we'd have had a slightly better Christmas period then I would agree they're still on; if we'd taken at least 10 points out of Notts County, Walsall, Oldham, Bradford and Stevenage, compared to the 3 that we actually got, then we'd currently be sat in 11th on 39 points, 10 points off the play-offs with a game in hand. Considering we still play the team in sixth then that would potentially mean a gap of just 4 points which would definitely be close-able.

However, we threw away 8 points away against Notts, Walsall and Oldham meaning we currently sit 17 points off the play-offs. We are literally in the territory of having to win all but one or two games in order to reach them; and this will be almost impossible when you consider we still have to play all of the top 10 sides again. The PO's are well and truly gone and I can't believe some people are STILL entertaining the possibility of them, however tongue in cheek it may be.

Top half is much more achievable target, and would be some feat considering we only won one of the first thirteen (?).

All we can do is keep winning. For us to get into the playoffs everyone up there needs to lose several games. Not going to happen.

Sod thinking about the the play offs, it's dreaming nothing more. From where were sat currently we need to look at small gains and milestones.

Next milestone is to bring that goal difference up to a '+' rather than a '-'

From there it's all about hitting the top half of the table, then the top 10...

But as was pointed out to me in January, were still closer to the bottom of the league than we are to top 6

The team are playing with a smile on there faces and its showing in the results.
The fa cup run has done us a favour,i dont care what anyone says, its bred a new found confidence in a squad thats unrecognisable since christmas.
The players that have come in have slotted in perfectly, coady, flynn and murphy are different beasts under nigel.
Play offs are a bit to far to reach, but 12th and above will be cause for celebration after a turbulent period for the club.
It all bodes well for next seasons assault,if we can pursuade the purse strings to be prised open, keeping Coady and Brayford could be pivotal in our quest for greatness.
In Nigel we trust.

Need 13 wins out of 16 games .... step too far without a proven striker
