Theyre re-turfing it again. They seem to do this every year yet it still looks like a farmer's field (comparatively, it's worse than other teams but I wouldn't mind playing on it) come Christmas time.

Is it usual for a club to replace the turf so often?

I wonder if we'll adjust the size to suit DW's passing style.

Not a very interesting thread, I accept, but there's some right shite on here at the moment so I thought this would blend right in.

Up the Blades.

I thought the pitch had been widened when Danny took over last close season? Agree with the farmer's field comment though and Danny said himself last season when the pitch had cut up quite badly "the pitch is not conducive to how we want to play football." Sheffield Eagles playing rugby on it can't help.

Didn't they reseed the pitch last season rather than apply sod.
Huddersfield had a pitch close to Wembley's in size if DW feels that is the way to go with the players he will have ,go for it.

If we made the pitch bigger then we would neede to play with proper wingers who get some chalk on their boots?

Quinn/Williamson did very well for the most part llast year but I would not call them wingers even though they played in such positions.

For what its worth I agree with the OP; our pitch aways seems to be a mess come Xmas/Winter time and then is in a pretty awful state for the remainder of the season. Whatever they are doing it does not seem to be working.

Unsure why when other local teams (Wednesday one sadly) seem to have far nicer surfaces when they have had effectively the same weather. Unsure if a few Rugby League matches played at the end of the season should make that much difference?

I'd give the egg chasers the elbow. Keep our pitch for us, and let the Eagles go back to Don Valley. And get the groundsman a new fork - the prongs have nearly gone on his.

To be fair I can't see how playing RL on the pitch is any worse than playing football.

It matters not what they play. It's Sheffield United's pitch. Not the Eagles'. They can do one and take their egg with them.

Maybe it is because apart from one corner the lane is closed in, certain parts of the pitch never get any sun or wind to dry it out. A lot of the new stadiums have this problem some keep the pitch outside so it gets sun and wind over it until needed then it is wheeled in under one of the stands.

How much cash do the Eagles bring into BDTBL? If we're that strapped for cash we shouldn't rush into owt!
They manage to play decent football in Swansea on a pitch that is used by a RU team. No doubt that RU with its scrums and rucks is far worse than RL.

Good idea but what cost far too much and where would they put the pitch anyway? Plus, what happens when the inevetable happens and it gets to 2pm and some idiot has forgot to bring the pitch in?! :D
