Has anyone actually managed to watch an entire video update of the new pitch being installed? I think the only thing more boring than these videos would be a timelapse of the grass on a football pitch growing. That or some of the home performances last season.

Yes.

I find them fascinating.

Especially changing the speed to 0.25 so I can see what is actually happening.

And to see which bloke is having a crafty fag ... :D

SPOILER ALERT !

Thanks Vassilis, I 'was' going to get the box set, but there doesn't seem much point now. :(

Is anyone going to put last weeks episodes on here. I've seen weeks 1-3 but not last weeks. I want to see if Tracey started that fire.......oh hang on a second am I mixing up my programmes here?

Is it just me or do they not seem to get going until mid morning, knock off promptly and achieve very little on some days?

Where's last weeks fekin episode, thought I'd missed it been checking BBC iplayer. Getting to the juicey bit with the green stuff by now surely.

Here it is...stop panicking

Weds and Thurs things really got moving. We have now gone from a pitch of brown sand to a pitch of yellow sand. Really fascinating. Cannot wait for next week.

I thought we might finally get to see Hoyland's (Falconer's/Hamilton's/Harper's) hole but alas they seem to have already filled it in.

They are turning their attention to repainting the changing rooms after the pitch is done. Just imagine what they could do with that.

Does anyone know if it will be ready for the Newcastle game?
No, we're playing that one in the car park with jumpers for goals ;):)

Appeared to be a bit of a goalmouth incident at the kop end on Thursday!

Some details about the new pitch - this has come after a recent senior Blades do at the Lane.

Apparently the pitch has been leveled - it was a 1 metre slope from SS to JS - it has gone !

They have also found water under the pitch. They have apparently drilled down 100+ metres and found water which will be used to water the pitch for free.

The amount of sand put in the sub structure will enable the water to drain away much faster, which helps in match preparation and less chance of postponements due to inclement weather.

The pitch is being seeded this Friday and then the plastic implants will follow. After that it apparently needs 3 weeks for grass and plastic to knit together. The question above about the Newcastle game is a valid one and this falls just inside the 3 week knitting period, but the Desso people have said it is ok to play the game. Obviously no issue with the Hull game a week later.

Also led to believe the pigs ground has also being leveled - it had a downward slope from "OUR" end to the piggy kop and as a consequence there are 3 less rows of seats at the front.

Surprised they struck water 100m down though, its not as if the Sheaf is even 10m below the pitch level.

Genuine question, if its OK to dig a well on your property, then if Wednesday wanted to take water from the Don which is all but on their property would they be allowed to - I doubt it......?

I take it you mean my sarcasm is rubbish?

not at all - my post was just an update.

Interested to know why you would think that?

For all I know it was a genuine question and my post was just information provided from Desso.
That actual question has apparently been asked by some Blades seeing as the pitch is stall all sand.

I am not a mind reader - I just despair at times.

I think whooooosh springs to mind. But update is good. May have been better on the Desso pitch thread though than this one.

Your reports are getting crap Deadbat. For what its worth I thought the yellow crane was MOM ,put loads of effort in all over the pitch and never hid ,and red tractors distribution was excellent.while Scoop Muck and Dizzy hardly moved. Yet again we didnt look like finishing and Flynn was invisible as usual.. NGE.
Yellow Crane 8
Scoop 4
Muck 5
Dizzy 2
Red Tractor 7
Flynn 1

Sand? Digging? Saudis investing in an obscure northern town?

It's oil isn't it?

Sitwell in amongst your otherwise delightful drollery you missed that the Scoops kept on tearing up the pitch.

You were watching a different game to me.

Btw. unlike our mystery is it/isn't it sloped, the slope of the Hillsborough pitch became very obvious when it was an oxbow lake connected to the Don a few years ago. The video shows that, just like Fulwood said it would be, the new riverbank was running along the third row of seats on the Kop or 'Row Z' as it is known at the club.

As a random recollection, Simon Inglis describes our pitch as sloping 'alarmingly' . Pretty sure that's what he says although I've not got his book to hand.
