The Passing of a Lifelong Blade

I thought I had lost my son in the Preston home game in October 2008. There were plenty of vacant seats at the back of the South Stand during that season so my son often sat with his mates there but in that Preston game I was looking behind my back to see if he was still there but I then realised he wasnt sat with his mates, I panicked and ran to the back of the stand to ask his mates where my son had gone to. All shrugged their shoulders so I told the stewards that my son had gone missing. They asked for his name so that they would ask him to report to the stewards in Gangway G. I hadnt realised at the time that my son had decided to sit on one of the vacant seats in the bottom of the stand (he said he had already informed me of this!). When he heard his name over the tannoy and that he was asked to report to the stewards in Gangway G, he feared that something had happened to me. It was such a relief when I saw him in Gangway G!

It was Helen who informed the PA to ask for my son to report to Gangway G and I will always be grateful to her. A lovely lady who often made sure that the deaf group in row V are ok and often talked to us.

RIP Helen

RIP Helen. That’s really no ages these days.

Thoughts with friends and family.
