he will be off in the near future. Arsenal supporters dont like their manager and on dodgy ground, Potch has gone at spurs and Ole is on thin ice at Man U.

Good post for your first one mate! Well done! Try and get them to deteriorate from here onwards if you can though, otherwise you'll not fit in properly.

If I may pick up on a few points...

"Big money is not the be all of success". This is an interesting perspective because I posted something about 18 months ago now suggesting that Wilder could possibly "break the mould" in this regard, because of the emphasis he puts on getting the right type of player in and the way he organises and motivates them. I still think big money is very important though. It's the oil in the machine as far as modern football goes. Without it everything would come to a halt. But there are other important things too, like good management, which we are lucky to have in spades with Wilder.

I think all the teams you've mentioned will continue to be contenders for the top 6 spots - regardless of what other issues they have. I don't see a sudden decline of these teams and a huge gap appearing for us to fill. That doesn't mean we can't stay amongst the top 6, but we'll be there on merit, not because other teams have fallen away. Consider also that there are some very good teams just below that as well, like Wolves for example. I think they will be pushing for the top 6 as well.

The other point is, you've not really shown much concern about our own issues when making these comparisons. You say we could do o.k. as long as there are no "boardroom battles". Well...there is a boardroom battle isn't there? A huge one, that could drag on for the next 2 years at least. The good thing is, it hasn't seemed to affect the club's support of Wilder so far. I agree with you that, as long as he is backed, we'll be o.k.

I'm far less concerned about the "envious vultures" in London and over the Pennines. I cannot see Wilder swopping a situation where he is managing his boyhood club at the top end of the Premier League and is worshipped here, to take on a high-risk, high profile job, with a faltering London club. Not in a million years. And as for the Manchester clubs, Wilder is not a big enough name, or a foreign enough name, for them. He's not "exotic" enough. And I don't see that changing either.

I'm totally with you re Leicester btw...I think they were as good as any team we've played so far this season. I wouldn't bet against them winning the title again.

But if a new manager takes over at say Spurs or Man City there is every chance it takes a couple of years to rebuild to same standard especially as many may move on or past prime. My point is compared to three or four years ago the established teams are going to have their own problems to maintain top status and it opens a door to others on smaller budgets.
