I think they should know better than us mate - I really do. They've had him there since he was 9 years old and have seen him play many more times that we have. Unlike 99% of Blades, the jury is out for me on Ebanks-Landell.
First of all I'd say he's made a huge positive difference to our central defence - I wouldn't deny that for one minute. We had no one of that kind of stature and dominance before he came. I think he frightens attackers to death, just the look of him. I also think he's pretty good on the floor with the ball too. But, and it's a big but...I don't think he's dominant enough in the air, considering the size of the bloke. He was second best to Vaughan and Pope of Bury for most of that game when it came to winning the ball in the air. But he scored the winning goal and that's all some fans will recollect about his performance in that game. Looking at the video of that free kick of Charlton's yesterday - he never even got off the ground!
I think some fans are far too quick to bestow "hero status" on certain players. Ebanks-Landell is a big improvement on what we had before, because we had bugger all! But that doesn't make him a cult hero like some of you on here are trying to make him. I'm looking to see a big improvement from him, consistently winning the ball in the air and dominating in all matches, not losing his concentration and going awol like he did yesterday. If he can do that, I might even join in the silly songs about him. But if he can't then let's thank him for his efforts and get someone else in who can.
