I don’t mean winning the title, I mean that for the first time in the 6 promotions I have observed, we have more time to plan for next season. Wilder and Knill can take in matches to watch targets and not next week’s competition.

One of their key achievements of their time here, has been that they have tried to get their business done early in the transfer window. While other teams are still fighting for promotion / avoiding relegation, we can hit the ground running.

Only a minority of the clubs in the Championship and those coming down from the prem, have nothing to play for and of them how many will lose their manager? The speed Wilder and Knill worked at bringing in players at the start of the season and then January, was fundamental to our success.

For this reason and the fantastic run were are on, I do believe that we could well be contends next year, I honestly have no idea in how big the gap of quality is between the two divisions, (gap in recourses and quality are not always the same thing). The one thing I do know is Wilder and Knill will know. I would not be surprised if 7 or 8 of our current squad start the first match, if not even more. Ideally a minimum of a ‘Hulse’ type stricker and one old head at the back / defensive Mid. (Home coming for Jags?).

Anyway, what a great season and I’ve not felt this positive at the end of a season since the drive back from Wolves, after Harry’ first promotion. No mass changes to that squad and Chris was part of it, hope he can recreate it.

Wilder and Knill are no mugs. They'll have had a list of players they are interested in for a long time, with plans made for whichever division we could have been in. Now I suspect the list of players for League One will not be as important as the list of players for next season in the Championship.

I genuinely belive Wilder already knows who needs replacing and has targets in mind.
2 x Strikers.
1x CB
1x GK
Thats the minimum.

Moore needs a good challenger.
We are light at the back,I would't pursue EEL at all.
OK in midfield/wingback.
Need 2 goalscorers.

I don't think he will get a new keeper. The new rule that there must be someone from your academy in the match day 18 pretty much nails that for Long

IMO not getting a new keeper would be akin to playing without one. Long is gash in L1. Never mind the league above.
He could chuck Reed,Brookes et al on the bench to pay lip service to the bollox EFL directive.

Will we see any foreign players under Tufty?

I was thinking about an odd foreign, though we need to ensure the team sprit is kept, as that is core to a good united side. We have had some great ones, but we do not want a Warnock style, buy half a dozen and hope to get a good un. To be honest it does not make a difference where they are from, it is all about ability and desire.

Agree with this, + need to ship a few players on e.g. Done, Scougall, Hussey etc

Don't forget the bloke who will already have his shopping list sorted , and wouldn't surprise me if deals are not already done.

Paul Mitchell - Head of Recruitment . The bloke with the recommendations .

Knill said on RS this morning that they've been thinking about this since Christmas, looking at which players can step up and he said we're in a healthy position with the players that we've got.

I have no doubt team wilder have a great shopping list. The point I was making is we have a head start with our early promotion. It now is their number one priority, where this is not the case for anyone else in the championship. Hopefully 80% of our business will be sorted by mid June. Even if it cannot be announced.

Princey should be stepping up with the required .....

There must be another Luton Shelton out there ......

I have it on good authotity Rolloblades mate has been given the go ahead to work hard on a bum back. He's already sourced the glass topped tables for the bar.

Not sure if brooks would count as he came to us from Man City but I get your point
I think the criteria I read was must have been at the club for at least one year before age nineteen so I think he would.

If anyone doesn't agree we need a GK even if it's back up seriously can never have watched George Long. If anything was to happen to Moore we'd be up shit creek without a paddle.
