So immediately back in action again at BDBL after the oh so important win over Boro. This time we entertain Reading FC who make their second trip to the steel City in 7 days. Their away record is pretty dismal with only one win in 16 I believe and that 0-0 defeat they suffered at the hands of our City Rivals...

They are however on a reasonable run of form, but we ought to have enough, surely?.....

Anyway..

Any team news? :)

Baldock recovered to return?

JOC was mainly precautional?

Obviously Basham still out...

Aim to go unchanged from last time out depending on injuries and JOC not recovered?

Not counting any chickens as far as this match is concerned but confidence should be strong, and these are not relegation threatened for no reason...

So I'm gonna be a bit cavalier in my forecast, early goal equals a comfortable 3-0 Blades win....please

Complacency is the biggest hurdle here, but im sure cw will not let that happen. No easy games left now as most teams are playing for something, Reading on a bit of a mini revival but if we are on our game today we should win and win comfortably! UTB

I'm praying we get a shite referee again.

I think Reading will set up quite defensively but they have the individual quality and pace to trouble us. John Swift is back in their team and he's one to watch. On paper, they shouldn't be fighting relegation.
I'm glad they won in midweek because that makes them less likely to get a result today. They don't need it as much now.

I think we'll score twice, at least one in the first half. Probably a 2-1 or 2-0 win.

Regarding selection, we can't argue with any of Duffy/Dowell and McGoldrick/Madine being selected. Hopefully Hogan will get some time on the pitch today.

I would put Cranie in Bash's position with Duffy wide right in place of Baldy and play our usual system, with Fleck Dowell norwood and Stevens across the middle. Madine and Billy linked up brilliantly on Wednesday so i would start with those 2 up top. A bit cruel on Goldie but we can't play everybody. 2-0 Blades. COMEONYOUREDANDWHITEWIZZZAAARRRDDDSSSSSS!

I’ll predict a relatively tough game, they are near the bottom but don’t think it will be a big scoreline.
Go for Blades 2 Royals 0, Sharp and Norwood
Attendance: 27,531, apart from the Kop (loads of space) and the away end most of the ground is close to a sell out.

Strongest team poss minus JOC if he’s still got a niggle.
4-0 up at half time. Hogan, coutts and Bryan on at half time for some game time

Do not take this lightly, Reading have picked up recently and are though to break down, they held Mr Bruce’s Barcawednesday to a comfortable 0-0 recently.

It’s another must win so treat it as if it was Boro or WBA.

Ok, I won’t. ;)

Not bothered about score.but win.win.win.nice to see us top of league second chance this week .lets not blow it.although it could only be for a short time.utb

Don't think this will be a walkover Blades - it could be a difficult game.

Thankfully CW doesn't under estimate any opposition - he'll have us ready.

Play the A team (minus Bash) assuming JOC is available and just take OUR game to them.

Just seen University has an open day. Buses running around may cause delays.

this should be a routine win for us & going top of the league, potentially 7 clear of west brom, if we can get an early goal then we could be in for rout. because on paper its a miracle we are playing reading this season how they survived on 44pts is miraculous as I said, also since Premier League creation it was joint lowest points total for survival (Birmingham in 2013/14 had 44pts but 6 goal better goal difference) & reading are 4pts worse off than they were this time 12mths ago as they had 33pts after 32games in 2017/18 but this season they have 29pts after 32 games & projected for only 42pts

but like Barnet 5 weeks ago, that why we play football on grass & not paper. as anything can happen if we dont turn up with the right mindset. & also I might assume they are going to set up for a point & hope to nick something on the counter or from a set piece

It isn’t “another must win” because there hasn’t been one yet. Another fans’ fallacy.

As a matter of interest what is the “A team”? Right now, if it hasn’t got Dowell and Madine in it, it’s B+ from me.

We’re not a ‘jobs for the boys’ team and never should be.

The A team is the one CW picks when everyone is fit and available.

His A team away from home appears to now include Madine and Dowell as starters.

It isn't rocket science to understand what CW's plan are - it never has been rocket science. He's modified his tactics based on what happened in the 2nd half of last season - again it isn't rocket science, just evolution of a good manager getting better with experience. CW isn't hard to understand, and probably not hard for opposition manages/coaches to understand - he's just better than them at what he does.

Disappointed Billys not starting, but are we absolutely sure he’s not got a slight knock or something? Maybe its more a precautionary thing?

Tufty saying to a few “prove that you want the shirt” Stears did that, let’s see how Freeman and Johnson react.

Madine and Hogan - with a fair wind our starting front 2, for 2 or 3 Prem years, so let’s see how it works.

Half time is the time to assess and react to all of the above.

Our manager is a real professional.

unlikely to be on the bench if that's the case. I'm guessing CW evaluated everyone's recovery from the physically tough game against boro a few days ago and would rather give Billy half an hour if we need a goal. Excited by CW seeing Hogan as being ready to start a game, he must have impressed in training
