Match Thread The Mighty Blades v Norwich City

So back in league action this afternoon, as we 'welcome' Norwich City to BDBL. Seemingly a match that from a supporter's point of view, has become a real grudge affair after last season's shenanigans. I'm sure Jordan Rhodes will receive a warm welcome too.....

Mcgoldrick recovered from his dead leg?

Billy definitely starting?

Norwood retaining his place after an excellent debut?

Duffy fit again after illness?

Woodburn likely only to appear from the bench?

Draws don't usually happen between Norwich and ourselves so it makes it harder to call, but such stats mean nothing. Will be a tough game, but with the changes made, I feel confident we'll win today. Think they'll score though, so it's a 2-1 Blades victory for me.

Might have half a chance now Norwood's here though, so you never know. He's what I'm most looking forward to today.

Now that is a shockingly bad stat, never realised it’d had been that long since a 3pm Saturday home win.
Today should be quite tough and I’m expecting a 1-1 draw.

I suppose some fans are hypercritical but most comments I've seen about him have been a pretty fair reflection of his performances so far this season. He needs to step up a bit because he's well short of his best. If I could wish for one thing from him today it would be that he takes at least 50% the chances that he'll undoubtedly get. This is my biggest gripe with him tbh - I've never known a player miss so many sitters. Credit for being in the right place at the right time to get those opportunities, but my God...I mean, he really can be very wasteful. I said last season if he'd put just half of those missed chances away we'd have finished in the play offs.

It's ok missing chances when you are scoring plenty as well. But if you're doing neither then fans are going to get frustrated, understandably.

I don't think the defence is bedded in yet and they've got a very fast winger in Hernandez. I think he'll cause us some problems. On the other side of the coin, we look to have really boosted the midfield with Norwood - so if we can make better use of those final balls into the box we should cause them some problems too. I think it's going to be an open entertaining game with lots of goals. My guess though is a draw. 2-2 or even 3-3.

Rhodes will score a couple so we will need to score at least two to get at least a point today, three or even four to get a win.

Must start Sharp in that case he’s looked our only real goal threat.

Be nice if Leon has had a rocket up his arse this week and told that this is last chance saloon, he either gives a performance of effort that’s been sorely lacking since January from him or he’s on the bench for the foreseeable.
